The beach is clean, long, not overcrowded, choice of beds or sandy areas, plenty of bars and restaurants on the beach front. There is a water taxi to Kamari beach just round the corner if you fancy a change. It is a lovely chilled place and still one of my favourite beaches.
The sand gets VERY hot in high season, as it is volcanic dark sand and absorbs the heat. I advise take water shoes for the short walk in and out of the sea.
Only one thing spoilt it for me, which I don't remember from my last visit 10 yrs ago: The ridiculous number of sales people. There was a small army of hawkers wandering the beach selling over 10 different items from (the expected) watches to a needle threading gadget!! Loads of girls pounded the beach all day long offering beach massages, but they were like buses and 3 would pass within 30 seconds of each other.
These sales people also have no problem waking you up to ask if you want their rubbish (even if you've refused them 10 times the same morning).
Don't let this put you off though, just develop a cold stare and a firm no.
