“Clean and comfortable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2009

We stayed at Samson for a week and we loved it! It is very close to the beach, it's nice, clean and comfortable. The atmosphere was intimate and peaceful. The rooms have even a small kitchen and you can make coffee or tea. We didn't have sea view, but it was really nice enjoying a cold drink on the balcony in the evening. The pool is small, but you don't really need it since you are so close to the sea. The rooms were clean and they were changing sheets and towels almost every day.

We went to Samons village for one week at the end of September. Whilst the appartments are absolutely fine for a week they are incredibly small. Our toilet broke also and meant we had to take the lid off the cistern to flush it most time we went to the loo. I would not recommend these appartments if you like the quiet. There appears to be no sound insulation and you can hear everything that is going on outside and in neighbouring appartments. Also the end of September appears to be the start of their hunting season - we were kept awake on more than one occasion by the continuous sound of gun shots. Nice clean sheets and clean towels regularly which is always good. Also the maid seemed to pay attention to what we were using in the appartment and things like scouring pads and a frying pan kept appearing which was absolutely brilliant. Very odd shower - you basically just stood in the corner and held the shower head with your hand. Having a shower meant the whole bathroom got wet - inluding the toilet paper. The studios were worth what we paid so whilst I might sound like i'm grumbling we still had a great holiday and enjoyed the appartment. I would only visit the island for one week - I think you'd run out of things to do if you went for two weeks. Also - if you stay in Perissi be prepared for stray dogs - quite happy looking stray dogs it must be said but still made me want to feed them all!

The location of the property certailnly made up for lack of facilities. The pool wasn,t as large as the angled brochure photos led us to believe,&even though we went outside the main holiday season there was a severe lack of sunbeds & space around the pool. The 2/3 person studio caused the two of us many problems-if 3 people were there it would have been very difficult,The kitchen facilities were the most basic we have experienced in the whole of our greek travels however we did have an electric kettle-if we wanted to risk trailing the kettle base & chord accross the sink to the only electric kitchen socket or balance it literally on the corner of the sink-not ideal if children are around! The restaurants bars & buses where all in close proximity & a quiet location overall.

Ive just got back from santorini and i wish i never came back.
Ive never been to a greek island before and i was soooo looking forward to it.... and what can i say SANTORINI is fantastic, great views of the caldera and you must visit Oia and see the sunset.
When you arrive at the Samsons apartments, its right next to old ruins of houses, but do not be put off by that once you get into the resort, it is lovely...Lovely people we stayed with, and i applaud the barman who looks after the whole of the apartments. There is no reception. The apartment is small and petitie, which is rather nice and cosy although it is basic kitchen wise, we only had 2 forks, 2 knifes, no toaster, but we didnt mind because we like to go out every day for dinner., but i would reccomend to bring your own travel kit if u are wanting to cook.
I do recommend the restaurant on the breach front called The Atlantis, great service and lovely food.
The best thing about the apartments is the location it is basically right next to the beach front, near loads of bars and restaurants, i recommend Bobs bar on the main road, Mario is so firendly.
The only thing i could say is bad about the apartment is, if you do have problems in your apartment, such as our toilet stopped flushing the last few days and we told the guy that looks after them but he never fixed it and other people also complained about the drainage system but yet nothing happend, so be careful.
Overall it was a great stay and the weather was gorgeous for spetember, i will definately be coming back again in the future to santorini.

We found the samson Village to be very clean and basic they have now got a kettle and toaster in all rooms but the showers are still dicey. the cleaner never stops and cleans your room every day. The bar closes at 4 pm every day , all they sell is lager and soft drinks, but I found Alexander the Barman to be a nice guy people should talk to him he speaks good english. Santoini is expensive especially in ia and Thira and the best place to see the sunset is in Thira not ia. In Perissa there are no greek nights. The best restaurant we found was the Veggera and Bar on the main road called Bob's bar but make sure you ask for our drinks not their local (mind blowing) The noise of the motorbikes up and down you can't have a romantic dinner for two. If you looking for a quite break then go to Karamri in Santoini it is beautiful and with no bikes allowed where the restaurants are even the locals go here. I wouldn't recomend Santorini but I am glad I went.

The studios were very clean and the maid works extremely hard and very long hours. The problem is the size of the accommodation. It is ok if you are a dwarf!!!
There were 4 of us 2 adults and 2 children. The upstairs is reached by a very steep wooden ladder and once upstairs, unless you are very short, you can not stand up straight because the roof is curved. Luckily I am not very tall 5ft 2 but even then at the highest point my head was touching the ceiling. So, if you are very tall or even average height expect to have back ache and a sore head!!.
We have stayed in Greece many times before and expect the accommodation to be basic, but this took it to the extreme. I think the owners are being greedy and the studios can't cope with the numbers of people they say it caters for. My children slept upstairs in the end to save my husbands head and we slept downstairs on the sofa and there was a pull out drawer underneath with a mattress on that my husband slept on. Although the First Choice brochure says the air conditioning is payable locally - there was no charge - which is just as well because our air conditioning did not work very well at all - if you balanced on the steps right underneath it you could just about feel it but because the control had been dropped on the floor (sometime ago I suspect) you couldn't alter it - so we spent 2 weeks in August with virtually no air con - not nice! We did mention this twice and also to the rep twice but it was never fixed. Aaron (rep) admitted as we were on our way home that the owners probably would never get round to fixing it - so bad luck if you stay in no34.
Aaron also said that he had had no end of complaints regarding the size of the rooms and everyone we spoke to staying there all said that we would not go back.
Having read the reviews before our holiday there was only one that said about the dangerous roads in Perissa itself. There are no paths and the quad bikes, mopeds, buses, cars etc go whizzing past you and beep at you if you are in their way - but there is nowhere to go. You have to walk in single file & luckily my children are 11 and 13, but if I had young children or a buggy my heart would have been in my mouth the whole time. it really is dangerous and although the Greeks are usually laid back -0 when it comes to their driving - they are not - they really don't care and are very impatient. If you want to stay in Santorini I would recommend Kamara as this is more pedestrianised and child friendly.

This hotel gives you everything that you need for a holiday.
The hotel is very small which makes this hotel great. The rooms are larger than expected and have everything you need for a relaxing self catering holiday. All the rooms are different but yet all are still large and had everything. We were there for my wedding, so i had family stay at this hotel so i got to have a look at some other rooms in the hotel.
The rooms were very clean and were cleaned daily.
The only negative point was the shower!
The pool is good, as its only a small hotel it is in proportion to the hotel. The room around the pool is small and i had to squeeze past some guests to get to a sun bed.
The pool bar was pointless as it only sold a few things and was very expensive but we are self catering so nipping to the local supermarket and getting your own drink is advised!
The hotel is very quite, away from the main strip of bars and off the main road from the beach so very quite at night and during the day.
It is a minute walk from the beach.
The beach is great and peaceful, be careful where you get a sun-bed, some places will charge you for them or like us, if your using a bar on the beach, they will let you use there sun-beds for free. We used Sellada as they give you service on the beach and are very friendly!

Overall this hotel is great. We have stayed in Perivolos before and this hotel was better as the rooms were much bigger.
Whilst on our holiday we had wedding guests at alot of other hotels and we got to see a few other hotels. We were happy with our choice of hotel. Samsom had the biggest rooms and had more facilities for self catering than the rest we saw.

If you decide to go, my advise would be to get drink from the supermarket not the pool bar and have a great time as we all had the best holiday ever!
