“Tranquil and chilled”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

We stayed 2 nights at the Amelie Hotel.
We were greeted by lovely staff, shown to our room that they upgraded to a larger room with 2 double beds, our 2 year old couldn't believe her luck!

The hotel is simply decorated in white and signature light blue with inviting cool tunes playing by the pool all day.

Breakfast was a really good spread for Greece including cereal, breads, honey preserves, cheese and ham. Plus tea and coffee ofcourse.

The hotel bar was perfect, right by the pool. We could sit and drink a beer at the bar, chat to the lovely staff and watch our daughter paddle in the pool.(it's too deep for toddlers without a buoyancy aid)

All in all a perfect stay. Simple, cool decor, chilled out, located in a quiet location up the hill, no more than 10 minutes from the beach and a few minutes walk from the bus stop.

Topped off with fabulous staff.

Superb

Amazing experience in a foreign European country, the staff unbelievably helpful and the rate super good. Just left Santorini and fell in love with the hotel, feels like being at home.
Well done guys, and see you next June.

We adored the hotel, the service and the staff!!! And the price.

The hotel is very pretty, painted blue and white, and one of the best looking places we saw in the resort.
We paid 50 euro a night for bed and breakfast which was quite good value. The hotel is kept very clean by the staff who work very hard. Keeping it clean can't be easy - when we were there it was quite windy and everywhere got very dusty.
Our room was very small, with not much space to unpack. The fridge is in the wardrobe so hardly any room at all, in fact my husband lived out of his suitcase for the whole time we were there!
Breakfast was fine for us - bread, ham, cheese, jam, yoghurt, tea, coffee and juices.
Swimming pool is fine, not that big. Because of the wind most of the umbrellas around the pool were broken so we didn't sit there often as it was too hot for us with no shade.
If we return to Perissa we may go back to Amelie but more likely to try a different hotel.
The hotel is an easy 5 minute walk from the beach. The sun beds on the beach are not free though, even if you sit on those allocated to Amelie. You have to buy drinks from the restaurant behind the beach as a minimum or pay to hire the beds. Not a big issue, just a point to note.

We have been in mamy many hotels in Europe. This one is something that made a change. It was so clean that my husband asked me to ask them how they manage!!!. The room we had, it was on the second floor, overlooking the Perissa mountain, right above the pool and it was very clean and modern, the pool bar was nice and clean, small but stuffed with everything we needed. The lady at the bar, Fotini made amazing cocktails and she was smiley and all the time chatty and talkative.

We are both unhappy for leaving tommorrow and hopefully Mykonos will be as good. Vicky the manager offered us a bottle of wine twice during our week's stay and Samuel, my husband could not stop drinking!!!

We will be back to Santorini for sure. And back to Hotel Amelie definately. Thanks for everything guys, it was unforgetable. We will never forget you.

Room Tip: Ask Vicky if she has the room overlooking the Perissa mountain available, amazing for couples!!!

Firstly, in terms of value for money you couldn't argue with Amelie Hotel, and it does have a lot going for it, however there were some downsides. Below I have tried to set out positives and negatives to provide a fair review.

Positives: very nice surroundings in traditional blue and white colours. Nice (small) pool and pool bar. Rooms were very clean and had nice table and chairs outside. Rooms also had a fridge which was great for water and drinks, and air con which was invaluable in the heat. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is fairly well located, a short walk from the beach area, and restaurants etc.

Negatives: the bathroom was our biggest issue. Amelie has "wet room" style bathrooms which is fine, however our bathroom was so small you could have taken a shower whilst sitting on the toilet and washing your hands all at the same time. I have never seen a bathroom so small, it was more like a toilet with a shower mounted on the wall. Room lacked some storage space, although not a big issue. Fridge as very noisy, we had to unplug it overnight as the noise was so loud. Hotel advises safe boxes however these are in reception, and there are not enough for every room in the hotel. We had to wait a day for another guest to leave before we could have one, meaning we were keeping all valuables in our room. Breakfast was also pretty minimal and the same every day. After 5 days we were definitely in need of a change.

If you are looking for good value in Perissa this is a great place, however do be aware of the points above. We had a nice stay and would recommend this place if value for money is a priority (and you don't mind the small bathroom) but if we were to return to Perissa we would probably try somewhere different.

Room Tip: Try and get a pool view room if you can

A very nice, relaxing hotel set back from the main road through Perissa. Good facilities (pool, bar, pool table), and the staff were amazing. Vicki made us feel very welcome, helped us to organise trips and we wanted for nothing.

Overall an excellent experience, thank you!

Very clean, excellent hotel for the price we paid and the staff very friendly and professional! Vicky the manager always had a sincere smile on her face and gave us the best recomendations for restaurants, cafes and beaches we should visit before leaving the island. Santorini is an amazing island and combines romance and party. Hotel Amelie had a really nice and clean swimming pool overlooking the Perissa mountain. We will miss swimming in it while drinking the tasty and big cocktails. One thing I shouln't forget is their price -for what we we re bying. Very ecomonical and big in size.

Can't wait to go again. Thank you Amelie. Best and cleanest hotel we have been in Greece!
