Our first time at the Philoxenia and hopefully not our last! Great welcome and lovely large room. Facilities basic - which we expect from this type of holiday - but exceptionally clean due to the diligent work of Areeta, even on Sundays. Outside areas were beautiful with most marvellous courtyard garden. Pool area also very clean and comfortable. The only downside was the very basic breakfast but this was outweighed by the friendliness of Ellie, Eugene and their daughter Marianna (a very promising and enthusiastic Greek folk dancer!). Plenty of varied tavernas, but we especially enjoyed the Sirocco, Tranquilo and Cyclades.

My daughter and I were looking for a break but didn't want to pay a fortune. We got this hotel with Thomson and thought it would be fine as we don't typically need much from our hotel, just a clean bed and a safe place to store our stuff. It turned out to be the loveliest place I have stayed in years; the owners were so helpful and pleasant without being overbearing, the room was clean with frequent changes of linen and it was only a 10 minute walk to the beach. Although it was close to the 'main' road, it was so quiet on the property that it felt as if you were miles away. The pool is very cute and perfect for a dip after a beach day. I have been to Santorini twice, but if I ever go back, I'm going to stay here again!

we have stayed at the philoxenia several times, Ellie and Eugene the owners are super and we are greeted with a hug each time, facilies are basic but very clean thanks to Areeta. Recomended for people wanting a quiet relaxing stay

Room Tip: book direct to get a studio and Eugene will pick you up from the airport

We stayed at the Philoxenia for two weeks at the end of August begining of September. Really relaxing holiday which we needed. The hotel was small but spotlessly clean, Rita was really friendly with a cheery good morning every day. Breakfast was basic, going self catering time, already booked for next year. Supermarket and Bakery very close. Close to all amenities, brilliant food, check out Dorrians Bar.

We stayed in Philoxenia one week at the end of August 2012. We booked our holiday through a travel agency with a "roulette formula", so we didn't know before where we would end up, but in the end we were pretty happy with it.The hotel is in an excellent position, close to the beach (5min walking) and to the main street with the shops, car/bikes rentals and the bus stop to Fira. There's a supermarket just next door, a big parking in front of the entrance, and an amazing bakery open 24/7 just round the corner. The owners are extremely nice and helpful, but their English is quite poor, so it was really difficult to communicate with them. We had a problem with the daylight, as our window had no thick curtain, but they tried to do their best and gave us a mat to cover the window..
Our room was essential but clean, the bathroom was very small and with no shower curtain, so after each shower it was a mess, but the cleaning lady was coming every day and was very accurate. They even changed our towels and bed sheets in the middle of the week. We also had a fridge and cooking facilities.
I'd definitely recommend it for the cleanliness and the position, if you're looking for an easy, unpretentious accomodation.

This was a really nice base for a relaxing holiday. Close to the beach and the restaurants, it was ideally placed for peaceful and enjoyable break. The maid was an absolute star! The apartment was basic but very clean and the pool area was pleasant and shady. An ideal place for a couple, maybe a little quiet for families but I will definitely be returning, had fab time!

Room Tip: had a room at the back which was pleasant

the hotel is well situated. easy to get to the beach and the shops.
breakfast was toast jam and tea. and juice. A bit of choice would be good.
The owners are very nice and the cleaner Rita who is new this year is very friendly
and hard working. the rooms are cleaned everyday and the pool area is spotless.
the only problem is the shade the large pine trees cast around the pool and making the rooms downstairs cold and dark. The self catering rooms are upstairs with a nice sunny balcony. the b and b rooms are down stairs with open spaces outside the doors to sit in.

Room Tip: go self catering - supermarket and bakery very close by. you get a table and chairs and all utensil...
