This wonderful little b&b hotel in Firostefani is a fabulous find. The rooms are clean and attractive, and the setting--clinging to the cliffs of the caldera--is spectacular. The hotel is high up on the cliffside, so there's just one set of stairs to walk down, so access is easy. The common terrace is wide and the white wicker-like furniture looks brand new and is quite comfortable. The right-there-hanging-over-it-all view to the caldera is the equal of any fancy hotel anywhere on the island. There's a hot tub with a view, too, although the weather was so hot when we were there that I couldn't imagine using it. (They also have a massage room, although we didn't use those services either.)

We had breakfast on the terrace every morning, and it always came on time, was served with a smile, and was quite delicious--toasted bread, chocolate croissants, cheese and ham slices, hard-boiled eggs, orange juice, and coffee, tea, or hot or cold cocoa. The condiments included little bowls of Nutella, much to my teenage daughter's delight.

Internet is free and the connection is good, although it doesn't reach to most of the rooms. There's a spot to sit with your laptop near the reception, though, so that is no problem at all.

Firostefani is a great place to stay--within easy walking distance to Fira but not in the middle of all the hubbub. It's also within easy walking distance to Emirovigli.

We found everyone who worked at the hotel to be helpful, friendly, and accommodating. I could not have been more pleased and would come back here in a heartbeat.

We chose this hotel largely because of the reviews we have read and I am happy to say that it lived up to all the reviews.
The hotel is situated towards the southern end (nearest to Fira) of Firostefani and is about a 15 minute walk from the main areas of Fira itself so when night fell it was a peaceful place to just sit back on the terrace and take in the view. Also it was about a 1 minute walk from where the taxi drops off so no lugging heavy suitcases too far. Breakfast was a typical continental breakfast, cheese, ham, breads, eggs and such like and there was more than enough of it to fill a hole in the morning. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and gave us really helpful advice about trips and local restaurants.
We stayed in room 9 for two nights (as we hotel hopped around the island for 2 weeks), which I believe is the largest available here. The accomodation comprised of three rooms - a bathroom, bedroom and a living area that had a cupboard, table, two chairs, a dressing table, tv and fridge. Both the bedroom and the bathroom had caldera views which made for a pretty view first thing in the morning. The bathroom was a little on the narrow side, maybe 4 feet or so, but i cant say this really bothered us.The room was very clean. The rooms do not have private balconies but there are tables and chairs outside all rooms and comfy canvas sofas. The hotel has an outdoor hot tub available for all the guests.
We stayed in a few different hotels as we moved around Santorini and i would say that this gave us the best value for money and we have plans to return the the Sunset Hotel next year.

Nektarios and Teodora were very helpful, and pointed us to 4 different great restaurants, 3 of which we tried and were excellent. The location is just behind the Mylos hotel and windmill cafe, so not as difficult to find as others mentioned, although it's best to get a lift / taxi to here as it's in a pedestrian area (very quiet) otherwise in a hire car I doubt you'd find it as easily.
Room 2 was perfect - we had a choice of that or room 5?. The shower was large and didn't leak into the bathroom as in other hotels, there was a single bed as well as a double, making this one of their larger rooms, I presume. The view was spectacular and we used the warm tub twice, lovely after lots of walking - it was shut 2 nights due to unusually high winds.
The ONLY thing that could have been improved was the timing of the breakfasts - first available at 08.30, and one morning the bread had to be chased, and we were catching a 09.30 bus!
The beds were hardish, but the most comfortable we had in Greece.
Buses are easy - in Santorini we never needed a hire car - but this was May, and even the hourly buses normally had standing passengers.
A WONDERFUL 5 NIGHT STAY. THANK YOU.

We LOVED this hotel. The view, the location, the helpfulness of the manager...everything was perfect. We were met at the airport and brought straight to the hotel. As it was early in the season, we were the only guests! I can't imagine that there is a better location on the island, as it is central to everything. It even has free wi-fi!

Great location (photographers delight) difficult to find without detailed instructions, down alleyway, then down almost vertical tiled stairway without any handrails. Difficult with suitcases.

The sunsets are awesome. Room 3 had no safe and had to leave valuables with manager who is only at the hotel on a casual basis.

Breakfasts are basic, however, each room has a table and chairs outside overlooking magic view where breakfast is served.

Recommended ( but watch the stairs especially when wet).

Stayed at Sunset Hotel with my Husband and two friends. We had rooms next to each other and a balcony that overlooked the Caldera and water. We could sit in the spa and watch the sunset - absolutely awesome. Rooms were spacious and clean, and contained a fridge (which was handy). Breakfast was included and was a typical European breakfast (cheese, ham, toast with a variety of jams etc, waffles, boiled eggs & tea or coffee). You could have breakfast inside the premises or they would bring it to your balcony. There is no better way to start the day that sitting on your balcony looking at the view having breakfast. Staff were friendly and gave us advise on what to do and where to go. Overall great experience, and a very cheap price.

We spent an incredible 6 days in Sunset hotel, where we met new friends Nektarius and Teodora - both were very nice and helpful owners of the hotel. The strategical location of the place with a local bus stop just in 20 meters, helped us to explore the island very easy. The busy capital Fira was just in 10 min. on foot. Sunset hotel had a spectacular volcano view and we could enjoy it every morning during our brekfast on the wide terrace.Next time i'll visit this place again. For sure! :)
