Our stay at the Reverie Apartments absolutely made our trip. We spent 4 days on Santorini and were completely charmed by the little "neighbourhood" outside our hotel. The front of the hotel is on a pretty busy street but the back opens on to a stone footpath that takes you from Firostefani to Fira. Our studio room had a small, fenced terrace with a gate that opened on to the path. A few meters up the path was a convenience store with food for our fridge (we had breakfast at our leisure before heading out for the day) and souvenirs that were a little cheaper than we'd found in Oia or Fira. Across from the store is a cafe for the all-important first coffee of the day.

The family-run hotel excels in customer service. They've been in business for a while and willingly gave us frank advice on excursions, car rentals, how to get places and how much time we needed to allow. If there were a Nikolina in every holiday hotel, the world would be a better place.

From Firostefani, it is unbelievably easy to see most of the island. We rented a car (Nikolina had it delivered and picked up at the hotel for us) to visit the south of the island with its amazing, slightly untamed beaches and to drive up to Oia for some sightseeing and souvenir shopping. The walk to Fira is quick and easy and we never felt unsafe walking back along the footpath at night.

The only negative is that we had a hard time getting on to the internet from our room and had to sit out by the pool at night to take care of correspondence and make plans for the rest of our trip. I guess that our room was too far from the router.

From the time we arrive at Reverie apartment, Nikolina and her family was extremely kind and very helpful. She provided us a map of the island, excusions that would could take. Places that we can go eat. What different with her recommendations for restaurants vs. other hotels, is that their family actually goes to this places and they were excellent. This place was very clean. The location was about a 5 minute walk from Fira and 10 minute walk up to Imelivigli (sp?). It is close enough to Fira without the noise and conjestion of FIRA. We ate breakfast a couple of doors down, can't remember the name, but they have pastries, coffee and at night, drinks. I heard the breakfast at the hotel would have also been awesome, but we did not try it. A mother/daughter mentioned that the hotel breakfast was really good. I would recommend that you book a ride to and from port with the hotel as it can be a bit confusing once you get to the Santorini port via ferry. I would not really recommend renting a car as most places can be reached with a bus and the roads are pretty narrow on the island.

This hotel is a bit north of Fira, but that makes for a calmer location. Walk the footpath to Fira restaurants and shops. When you're hot (as frequently happens in Greece) take a dip in the little pool, put up an umbrella at your room, or go up to the terrace. If you need a scooter or car-they have it delivered to the hotel. Want a quick market nearby, right out the back on the foot path is a mini market, pizza place and breakfast stop. The family that runs this hotel makes you feel right at home!

Reverie is a shining star in service and hospitality. This small, family-run hotel could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Nikolina provided us with outstanding suggestions and bent over backwards to help us book excursions and to make our stay truly a relaxing vacation. The one drawback of Reverie is that the view is not quite as spectacular as other hotels (still lovely), but the service, cleanliness and positive attitudes more than make up for it. A very short walk outside the hotel (maybe 200 ft) brings you to an amazing view of the Caldera. The rooms are large and clean. The breakfast is fantastic, particularly in comparison to the usual European spread. In general, Reverie was a fantastic and relaxing place to spend our vacation!
