We had an awesome experience here , Friendly Staff and was surprised by the Free Champagne they gave us for my B'day , Best Service , Yummy Breakfast and the icing was the World's Best View to the Caldera .... Most romantic sight of the Rainbow makes you marvel at the beauty of the nature.

Room Tip: Suite facing the Caldera

Just returned from 4 days at the Mill Houses. Beautiful boutique hotel in a perfect location. The staff is very friendly, helpful and top rate. Breakfast is delivered to your balcony! Rooms are fresh, white and vert peaceful. Although we booked a junior suite, our room was small, HOWEVER our view was the best as we could wake up and look at the caldera, we could even see the sunset from our bed!
Suggestion- shelf space/drawers for your clothes.

While we are not aware of other suites, we were fortunate enough to have the honeymoon suite (although not honeymooners in the true sense) for seven nights. This was our first visit to Santorini and although we weren't disappointed with Mill Houses, we were a bit disappointed with Santorinii being so touristy and lacking the true Greek flavour - we wanted to smash some plates and dance like Zorba.

The staff, Nanad, Nefelli, Pilot, Antonius, Maria and Sophia were all wonderful and could not do enough for us. The view was spectacular and we never had trouble getting a lounge at the pool. The pool was quite big enough for a quick cool off - we didn't need a lap pool.

We feel we got our money's worth and really enjoyed our stay.

Dear guests,
Thank you for your review and your kind words. We are glad that you enjoyed our Honeymoon Suite as well as our service. We understand your disappointment for not finding zorba dances and plates smashing anywhere, but these "activities" do not take place in Greece anymore.

We booked a studio apartment at Mill Houses, following extensive research into accommodation on Santorini. I had previously visited the island on two separate occasions, and each time stayed at the incredible Artemis Villas in Imerovigli, which have one of the best views on the island. Unfortunately for this visit, they were fully booked.

We were very grateful for the complimentary pick-up, drop-off service offered to guests. This certainly took the stress out of making our way to the accommodation from the airport/port.

When we arrived we were taken to our studio room. As others have remarked, these studios are at the top, separated from the rest of the premises. The room itself was nicely appointed (although there was a very odd smell), but the balcony was shared and the view was disrupted by some rickety old TV aerials. We found these rooms were also quite noisey (as there is a restaurant directly above), and consistently heard chairs being dragged across the floor above, late into the evening. After speaking with the receptionist of Mill Houses the next morning and asking whether we could perhaps be moved to an alternate room, we were thankfully offered a much nicer room, closer to the pool. This certainly made the trip, and we thoroughly enjoyed the rest of our stay.

Breakfasts were lovely (fresh orange juice and many other options), and staff overall were very helpful and friendly, particularly the afternoon housekeeping lady who was very sweet.

The pool area was small but the perfect place for an afternoon dip, and free wifi was excellent throughout.

Overall, if you are planning to stay at Mill Houses, my advice would be to avoid the Studio rooms. They are completely isolated to the rest of the accommodation and, if I was running this complex, I would probably drop them altogether. There is such a stark contrast in the quality (particularly the view!) between these and the rest of the suites, and if you're heading to Santorini for the sunsets (which you probably are!), I think you may be disappointed with the studios. Spend the extra money on the suites. It'll be worth it!

Room Tip: Avoid the studio rooms!

Dear Guest,
We would like to thank you on your positive comments on our property. We are happy to know that you enjoyed your stay with us.
As for your comments on the studios, please note that we do understand that there are differences between suites and studios as it is common in the accommodation, but that does not imply that studios are not worth to stay. We understand that you preferred the suite we upgraded you, with no extra charge because our main goal is to make staying a pleasant experience for our visitors, and to help them enjoy their vacations in Santorini.

We would like to thank you for taking the time to write your thoughts for us. We wish you the best!

At last we are getting round to posting a review (as promised!) of Mill Houses. Like many people we spent ages trying to make the right choice. We rely heavily on Trip Advisor reviews and really wanted the perfect holiday as this was a special trip.
We wanted somewhere romantic, peaceful and relaxing to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. It was as if someone had read our minds! We are delighted to say we got just what we wanted!! It was PERFECT!!!!
However, It has been interesting to read some reviews since we have returned. A lot can depend on your own personal preferences and to be honest a bit of luck as well!
We stayed here from the 10 -17th of July and had booked a junior suite way back in January. We were picked up from the airport ( it was great - no hassle) we had read reviews and knew all the view but it was even better than you can imagine!!!
Neferi booked us in - and brought us 2 glasses of sparkling wine. That was the start of a wonderful week. Thanks to her for all her help and advice - nothing was too much trouble.
The room is quite small but stylish, cosy and very clean. We LOVED it!! the view was spectacular!!! and you could see the view from inside the room. Bed was very comfortable and it was SO quiet at night! Even with the air conditioning on!
The bathroom was small and could have done with a lick of paint on the ceiling but this was offset by the fact you could look out at the view through the little window!! It was like a postcard!! The breakfasts were good. We took our order to reception on the way out each evening and we would phone in the morning to have it delivered to our balcony( always by Sean who was great fun and very helpful and friendly) We loved not having to queue for buffet breakfasts like other hotels. We did not see in any other rooms during our stay. Certainly our balcony was not entirely private- you needed to pass our room to get to the next but this wasnt a problem. There were lots of other guests when we were there, but we were lucky that they seemed to be somewhere else - especially for about the first 3 days. We found NO ONE at the pool in the afternoons until about 4 or 5 p.m. We had the whole area and pool to ourselves!!!!
We knew the pool was small and had no problem with other guests when they did appear -it depends on whether you want to chat to others. It was busier towards the end of our holiday but we just sat on our balcony if we couldn't get a lounger.
We got a hire car for 2 days at a very good price and they only needed half an hours notice to bring one round for us. The sunset in Oia is beautiful but not any better than where we were. We didnt really like any of the beaches but thats not what we came for.
Firostefani is small but had plenty of good resturants so you can try a different one each night. All quite pricey but lovely views and good food. We especially liked the Italian restuarant even though it had no view - we got a takeaway one night and ate it on our own balcony - in peace and quiet and a stunning view all to ourselves!! We also loved Mamma Thiras and Cafe Gallini ( for iced coffee).
Mill Houses was perfect for the romantic holiday we wanted - it was very clean and the food and service was excellent. We loved the peace and quiet and the staff were there if you needed anything. We would love to go back!!

Room Tip: Room 109 above the pool - spectacular view! well worth booking a suite.

We stayed here for our honeymoon. I had read a lot of good reviews about this place here on Tripadvisor. All of it, was true, but I found the place little smaller than I had hoped. It had about 13 rooms/suites.

Airport Pick up: We were picked up from the airport after very warm greetings by the Serbian guy (sorry to forget your name). He was guiding us all the way through the way till we reached the point where we couldn't go by car. He took all our bags (yes, all of them himself) and went down all the 111 steps (approx) super fast.

Location: It is about 12-15 mins from the airport and 20-25 mins from the old of Fira. The proerty is located in Firostefani, a town little higher than the capital of Santorini, Fira. It takes about 10-15 mins on foot to get to the town as it is downhill (not the same uphill). Another option is to walk by the Caldera (through small walkways on the hilly terrain, facing the beach). We hired a car so we could go to Oia for the sunset (I think its over rated, the sunset was better from out hotel/room), Kamari and Perissa and other beaches.

Check-in: The check-in in was easy and quick. The lady at the reception provided us all the information about going around locally and also booked us on the volcanic islands tour. We were given the worst possible room on the property (small room and bathroom and no view), and were not shifted until next day morning. The new room was a relief. The staff was co-operative and thanks to them for the same.

Rooms: The changed room was fairly spacious and had a large window looking at the pool and the sea thereafter. Beds were also nice and comfortable. There could be more space for storing luggage. There was a small kitchenette with a sink and a hot plate, with vessels and cutlery. Lighting in the room was good. Bathroom was small compared to similar hotels that charge such prices (no bath tub obviously). It was disappointing. No shower curtains.

Cleanliness: The rooms were cleaned very often, as the maids were always on the lookout to clean any rooms even twice a day at times. They left small yummy chocolate muffins by the neatly arranged bed which bought a smile to out faces. We found the pool to be little dirty and it was a really small pool.

Breakfast: The breakfast was good but I had hoped better. As this is small property (especially for the price we paid), there was no common area where a buffet breakfast could be set up. Breakfast cards were in the room and you are supposed to fill your preferences and give it at the reception/pool bar the day before. Breakfast was then served in/outside your room or by the pool. They have champagne in Greece for breakfast. I loved that part.

Drop off at Port: We departed from the hotel for the port and the staff had to take 2 trips to our our bags in the car. Thought they always smiled, we made them happy with tips.

It was a fun stay and we would recommend this hotel to others too.

Room Tip: Pool View. Do not take the room below pool level.

Summary:
- Mill houses is good / very good but not excellent - we would not rebook here
- Excellent service - especially Nenad
- Suites are really nice and well located - avoid studios
- Great location on Santorini
- Whole complex is clean and well maintained
- Communal area is limited and pool is very small
- Rating would have been a three but for the upgrade and Nenad!

Detail:
We booked our honeymoon here based on reviews on tripadvisor.
We were picken up from the airport, luggage carried to the room, everyone friendly. We were given a complimentary upgrade to the honeymoon suite for the first two nights (we booked a studio) and given a complimentary glass of sparkling wine - it was a perfect welcome.
The view from our suite was amazing - we were truly wowed by it and the suite itself was lovely, a split level layout with bedroom up and living area down - bathroom halfway. The balcony was private (could draw a curtain to rest of balcony if we wanted) and had the same wonderful view. If I was being critical I would say that some of the decor was looking a little tired but overall we thought the room was great.
Breakfast is fab, preorders are made the prior day and you can order from a wide selection of eggs, pastries, drinks, toast, etc. This is served from 8-10.30 in your room or on the balcony.
The main level of the Mill Houses (-2 from reception) has the small pool, communal balcony and small bar as well as five suites. The pool is really a dipping pool and if a couple is already in it you would not join them - it is that small! There are only four loungers here for communal use (some suites have their own) but you will often find that they are occupied and you cannot really use this level.
The rest of the layout of the millhouses comprises four more suites on level -1 - these are well located also, the reception is above on level 0. The studios are badly located with three accessed from a separate entrance (see other reviews that comment on this) and one a level below the pool level with a separate access from what is more of a "service" path.
When we were moved to our studio as expected on day three we were not impressed by it, it was the bottom level studio, it felt isolated - like a "servants level" - and there were bad smells from the sewerage (there was an inspection chamber cover 20m away). Also it doesnt have a balcony but a very small front area with a wall so that people walking by are at your level. We did not complain at the time because we had just had the benefit of an upgrade and anyway the resort was full so we could not have been moved. My advice would be to either pay the extra for a suite or go somewhere else. I suspect the 5 star reviews are all from people in suites.
Service from Nenad in particular was wonderful, he is very friendly, accomodating and full of good advice. The fact we had such a great time on Santorini was due to his daily suggestions of what to do (and what not to do!) - he also recommended and booked restaurants for us getting great tables.
Overall I would not recommend this hotel, it is good, but for the money it should be better and there are better options available on Santorini.

Room Tip: Pay for a suite or go elsewhere - do not book studios - pool level suites are best, followed by the...
