We stayed at the Agali Houses for our honeymoon, in the Sunset suite. We'd recommend everything about it, from the gorgeous location to the wonderful breakfasts and helpful staff, who made some great restaurant and excursion recommendations for us.

Room Tip: Sunset Suite has its own pool and is wonderful for afternoon sunbathing

When we walked into our room and took in the vista beyond of Caldera Bay, we just couldn't believe how lucky we were. Trying to describe this amazing location in words is difficult, check out the website and then imagine it to be ten times better, because truly it is, the pictures only give you a small taste of paradise, visit Agali houses and then you'll know you're there! The room was so tastefully furnished in soft greys and whites, modern, renovated, roomy and quite simply.... beautiful! The staff were so helpful, they gave us travel tips, advice on where to go, nothing was too much for them, particular mention must go to the very special Vassiliqi in reception, who welcomed us at Agali with open arms, you made our perfect Santorini holiday even more so! thank you Vassiliqi we will be eternally grateful to you. They have a beautiful little coffee shop/restaurant, ideal for a nice brekkie, excellent location, close to the main part of town, but far enough away to have peace and solitude. I would highly recommend Agali houses, I would love to go back to Santorini, just so that we could stay at Agali again, give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 107, it was not too far down, at the end, so no one either side of you, secluded a...

It's such a bad thing that we have visited the Island during a major power crisis.
As the hotel isn't in the city centre, the cuts lasted longer there.
No problem for a couple in honeymoon. We have just enjoyed the huge balcony with the moonlight and a great Caldera view, drinking a great Santorini white wine. Totally recommend staying at the sea view apartment. It's huge!
Oh, and the breakfast just made my mornings.

We stayed at Agali Houses for 3 nights in October & had a wonderful stay. Weather was perfect, sunny and 75f every day (50's at night). A few places (hotels mostly) were closed for the season, but crowds were down, making for a pleasant time.

Service: front desk very helpful, received a slight upgrade to 2-room suite with private balcony due to low-season (the lady said they close for the year on Nov 1st). Welcomed with a bottle of vino in the room & check-in no problem even though we got there mid- morning. Took advantage of hotel-arranged transfer from airport (18€). Very helpful with local info, getting boarding passes, etc,

Location: 2nd time on Santorini, & have stayed in firostefani both times, so cannot comment on other locations. This area is nice since a bit removed fro Fira, but a nice 15 minute walk to get there for restaurants, shops, museums transport hub etc. A couple of restaurants in Firostefani, but we did not try them. Hotel is a bit down the Caldera, making for a little work-out going up, but no problem for us middle-agers. We did the hike to Oia (EE-ya) one morning & loved it. Nice path, but you do go up & down those hills you see in the distance, so wear good walking/hiking shoes. Took about 3 hours with minimal stops. Had lunch there & caught the bus back (I think was 1.25€- pay on the bus).

Hotel: very nice room with great views of the caldera sunsets etc. Breakfast was served on one of the terraces, basic but good. Booked this place partly because the pool looked a bit larger than others. It was, long enough for some short laps, but not heated. A bit cold, even for this Wisconsin boy, but got swims in on 2 out of the 3 days.

All in all great place, was a bit more € than some others, but worth it!

Fit people will be fine, others will suffer! it was 175 steps from the street level down to our (fantasitic) room. 3 of us were in room 123 which had a spectacular front porch with two sun lounges, and a sofa/two chairs combo that looked out over the caldera. Simply the best views I have seen. This porch became the living room in spite of the heat. The room itself was quirky. Upon check in we were given a tour of the room with the comment "20 minutes before you want to take a shower, come over to the breaker box, switch this breaker on and you will get hot water". Turn it off afterwards." A little odd. Also, the bathroom is tucked into the back of the room with no ventialation. We had a strong mildew/mold smell coming from under the sink throughout our stay. In spite of this I cannot say enough about the cleanliness of the entire hotel. Housekeepers cleaned the cushions on the pool chairs and mopped the outside steps. They were always in otion. Very impressive. The pool area is beautiful, however the pool itself was VERY cold even in late August/early Sept.Transportaion to and from the hotel was right on time. Location was excellent- far enough away from Fira to avoid the cruise ship crowd and close enough (20 minutes?) of interesting walking to be there without too much effort. Convenience markets are close and water/beer/drinks should be purchased there. In any case the bar/breakfast area is very well maanged and the people there are very special. They are a true high point for all guests . Lastly, no review of the place would be complete without noting the amazing athleticism of the guy who carries the bags up and down these odd sized steps. If he ever takes a day off this place will close! You WILL enjoy being here.

Room Tip: Room 123 had an incredible private and covered front porch. A porch with protection from the sun wil...

Agali Houses is a beautiful, super-friendly and very comfortable hotel with a stunning views of the caldera from every room! Upon check-in, we were given a free upgrade to a beautiful suite with a private patio from which we watched the sunset every night. The location in Firostefani is great too. It's within walking distance to Fira but far enough for a more tranquil experience. The only downside to the hotel is the steps. There are over 50 steps from the street level to the hotel and then there were over 50 more from the gates of the hotel to our room. It's not bad if you're relatively fit and a good sport. If you have any trouble walking or taking stairs, I would avoid this hotel. Overall, I would definitely recommend Agali Houses for anyone who wants a beautiful hotel experience.
