We stayed in a suite which was simply amazing. Completely modern but very stylish and beautifully decorated. The large balcony had ample furniture with which to enjoy the amazing views. The suite has a large, modern bathroom, a large bedroom with it's own access to the balcony, a basic kitchen and a lounge with couches and tables and also a stereo and TV (not that you will ever need it). It was perfect. There is also a swimming pool and a breakfast area with views of the sea. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The whole hotel is beautiful, built going down the hill/cliff so the views are incredible. There are a lot of steps to get up to the road (about 150 from our room) but that's a small price to pay for such a stunning location (also, one of the great guys from the hotel carries your bags when you arrive and leave so you don't have to struggle). There are some shops and restaurants/cafes at the top of the steps, and you are about a 10-15 minute walk along the clifftop path from the cable car. We absolutely loved it and are already planning to visit again. You can't go wrong staying here and we can't recommend it highly enough.

Room Tip: We stayed in a suite which I highly recommend. Your own huge balcony with amazing views across the...

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at Agali Houses and absolutely loved it. It is a beautiful property with spectacular views. Most pools on Santorini are quite small but Agali's is a very good size. Plenty of deck chairs/umbrellas and sunbeds with shade. All the apartments have private balconies with the same gorgeous view; some are bigger than others depending on the number of occupants and are priced accordingly. We are a family of five so we had 2 suites with very big balconies. All properties in this area have many steps, in fact most properties with views of the caldera have to have a lot of steps by definition. The properties are built on a huge cliff. However, at Agali Houses you do not ever carry your bags on these steps. A man with superman like strength bounds up the stairs carrying three large suitcases at a time!

Without a doubt we would stay at this property again. I thought Firostefani was the best location for views and centrality and I thought Agali was the best property and I had a good look at a lot of other properties. I thought there was plenty to eat for breakfast; it was a continental rather than American or English breakfast so there is no hot food but there were the usual hard bolied eggs, cold meats and cheeses, several types of bread, cakes and croissants, fruit and youghurt.

Remvis is a great restaurant nearby but there are many to choose from and they were all lovely. We ate out for lunch or dinner and than made our own snack meal in the kitchenette for the other meal (breakfast being provided).

The staff are all helpful and lovely, Vossiliki looked after most things for us and was always cheerful as was Gabby and the lady who brought out breakfast.

We have stayed there for two nights . The location is good though a little bit "low" at the caldera . In order to go to the hotel and the rooms you have to go down more or less 100 steps .The view was a little bit different cause we usually stay in firostefani at the upper level near the main road. Our room had a private veranda , spacious bathroom and a small living room with kitchenette. The decoration is ambient and rather elegant. The room cost 175 euro per night and was great for a small family. We had our room done every day .The hotel has also a pool - no pool bar -it was clean and with nice wooden sunbeds. The only thing that turned us down was the breakfast .No variety not sufficient quantity and not good quality - they offered us yogurt that was bought from lidl super market and "mermelade" cheap alternative for jam - marmalade .

We stayed in a fancy suite and it was incredible! Well worth what we paid. Enormous balcony overlooking the caldera, good sized lounge, bathroom, kitchen and bedroom. We loved it and really didn't want to leave! There were 166 steps down to our room but totally worth it for how beautiful it was. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. They would only provide one key per room, but you'll probably find that's the case at most places in Santorini. Breakfast wasn't that special, but you can always go up the road to Mylos instead!

Thanks to all of the previous reviewers of Agali Houses. Your reviews helped us to select the property for our holiday in Santorini. After staying for three nights in early June, I can confirm that the other reviews are spot on! The property is wonderful! It's in a beautiful setting with comfortable rooms, great pool and areas to relax, plus the perfect location with Oia-like views of the sunset every night! We debated about staying in Oia, and I'm glad we didn't. This property was a short walk from Fira giving us access to great restaurants and shopping, but also provided us the privacy and solitude that we wanted on this part of our trip. Thanks to the staff we had a very memorable and enjoyable holiday.

Stay here if you want to appreciate the amazing caldera views in Santorini, but also want your own space, and don't want to break the bank. This is a fabulous location with several good restaurants on its door step and an easy walk into the capital. You will need good knees however as the steps down to the hotel are a killer, but help you stop piling on too much holiday weight!

The hotel is set up more as studios/apartments as there isn't an evening restaurant and other than breakfast you are left to your own devices. Suited us as we had a little kitchenette area and they have no issues with you bringing in food and drinks from the local shop or takeaways. We had a traditional room which mean't we had our bed up a step ladder on a mezzanine level - meant we had a lot of room and a lounge area but the steps were a little bit hairy if you had had a few glasses of wine!

We normally always eat out on holidays but because the view from the balcony is so amazing from agali houses on a couple of occasions we got takeaway pizza's from Il Cantuccio the Italian (just above the hotel) and enjoyed with a bottle of wine whilst watching the sunset.

We loved all of the different little seating areas/day beds around the pool, and breakfast although functional (ham, cheese, pastries and bread, hard boiled eggs, yoghurts and melon brought out to you on a tray) was lovely up on the patio area, again looking out on that view.

Location really is great as in Fira we thought the restaurants were very touristy i.e. average food over priced because of the view and in Firastefani you get more cost effective places with much better food. Also walked up to Imerovigli and the hotels looked really cramped with little space around the pool area compared with Agali Houses.

In Firastefani just above Agali is Mylos Cafe which is an old windmill renovated to be a cool contemporary bar, pricey but excellent mojito's. Below it is Il Cantuccio the Italian that although small we loved because it served good pizza, gnocci and pasta and great house wine for around 12 euros for a litre. This place has no view but gets packed so book or be prepared to wait especially for an outside seat which had the best atmosphere.

Would definitely return to Agali Houses, as the team there were really friendly the location is amazing and I think although expensive because it is Santorini! you get good value for money (having seen what other hotels looked like and knowing what they were charging)

If travelling from the UK book direct with the hotel and get your flights from Easyjet - we booked through an agent and paid way over the odds - having seen what we could have paid direct and still had to pay for luggage with Easyjet and arrange our own transfers (just email Agali Houses and they will meet you and pick you up for a very reasonable price!)

Room Tip: All rooms appear to have a view. If you can afford it upgrade and get a decent sized private balcony
