We just left Santorini after a wonderful and relaxing stay in the Cavana Cave House at Blue Dolphins. The house was perfect for our family of four. (Parents and two college students). It is large with 2 bathrooms and a separate bedroom for us, fully equipped kitchen, lots of hot water, fresh towels daily (additional beach towels daily). Also a private lower deck with picnic table where we had dinner and appetizers and a private upper deck with lounge chairs and a lovely upper view. Dennis and Alexis were great hosts and very helpful in suggesting visits around the island. The ladies laid out a lovely island breakfast each morning with plenty of fruit, yogurt, local honey, breads, eggs, cheeses, coffee, fresh juices etc. Firostefani is a perfect location with quick access to the entire island (oia and black beach both by 15-20 minutes by car). Our teenagers could walk into Fira in the evening, we also walked to imerovigli to watch the sunset one evening, made our requisite trip to oia and had plenty of time to visit black beach, red beach, megalochori, and enjoy a fabulous hike up to ancient thira. The day we checked out we spent the afternoon at the sister hotel (the grand view) near the port to enjoy the afternoon by the pool. If you are looking for a quieter spot on the southern part of the island the grand view is beautiful with a pool overlooking the sea - if we came back for a week we would spend half at blue dolphins in Firostefani and half at the grand view!! Look no further -- book your trip here!

It was great experience to stay at Blue Dolphins Traditional Apartments! Locations is perfect, the personnel is very friendly and smily! Breakfast is very good and the rooms are beautifully designed! I was staying there just for 1 night, but will definitely get back there when in Santorini next time!

I stayed alone for two nights now in May in a Romantic Suite and it was a very relaxing short trip. Dennis and Alexis from the team were a big help as well. Even though I arrived very early in the morning they arranged that I could check in already so I had a great start with a healthy local breakfast on the terrace of the Blue Dolphins. Alexis gave me later great tips and hints on where to go, what to see and where to eat, which helped a lot. The location of the Blue Doplhins is ideal since you can discover the island in both directions. Dont forget to wear propper shoes when discovering. The room was very clean and had a tasteful interior. Keep up the good work.

Room Tip: If you book a Romantic Suite ask for a higher floor

Between May 6th and 13th, 2013, we stayed at the Blue Dolphins Traditional Apartments. Our transfers to and from the airport were seamless and we arrived at the small resort speedily and with ease. The location of the apartments is good as it is within walking distance of Fira and about eight miles from Oia along a scenic hiking path. The Blue Dolphin's Manager, Dennis, greeted us and showed us to our wonderful apartment consisting of a small very clean bedroom with a comfortable full sized bed, traditional arched ceiling, fine bedding, and splendid views out the shuttered windows. The apartment also had a small dressing area with dressing table, closet, and storage; a living/kitchenette area with a fridge stocked with free local wine and sparkling water plus corkscrew, three kinds of glases, and hot pot as well as a small dining table; and a large bathroom with good ventilation, a good sized sink, and a shower big enough to wash a horse in. Most importantly there is a splendid and large wraparound balcony overlooking Fira, the caldera, and the coast. The balcony is the selling point. From the balcony you finally see the view that appears on all the Greek travel posters. The balcony boasts wooden lounge beds with comfy pads, a table and chairs, additional built in seating made of stone and stucco, a large sun umbrella, numerous blossuming pot plants, and a truly hypnotic view that will make it hard to leave. As the light and wind changes from minute-to-minute, the view is captivating. Balcony security is provided by a locking exterior metal door from the balcony, while the apartment also has a good lock on the front door--although you must be careful to lock the large windows as well. In the apartment, heat is effectively provided by two passive heating panels set into the walls of the bedroom and living/kitchenette area; while AC is provided by a unit over the front windows facing the bed. The apartment has a music system and a fair sized flatscreen television with good reception of many channels. Due to the length of our stay, Dennis generously arranged for a free car to be dropped off at our apartment and picked up by the company after two days of free use, which is a much easier way to get around on Santorini than the buses. Staying at the Blue Dolphins also gets you discounts at many local cafes, discos, and shops. The Blue Dolphins provides an excellent free breakfast with German, English, and Greek touches including remarkably good Greek yougurt, hard boiled eggs, sliced meat and cheese, endless coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice that still tastes of the flowers and fruit, local breads, outstanding local jam and honey, etc. The breakfasts provide an opportunity to meet and talk with the other guests, who come from all over the world. Each morning either Dennis or Alexis (the owner) stopped by the breakfast balcony to answer any guest questions and provide guidance on where to go, what to do, and how to book various activities (i.e., snorkeling, cars, day trips) that had arisen. Both Dennis and Alexis provided a full orientation upon a guest's arrival plus a written list of best restaurants, shops, and tours/sites not to be missed that is quite useful. Their advice was sound and they were generous with their assistance. The only downside to the reasonably priced Blue Dolphins was the lack of a swimming pool actually at the apartments (although you could go to a remote affiliated pool across town for free via taxi) and the need to leave our apartment after our week was over. Please note that occasionally nearby construction or maintenance may result in noise, dust, or fumes during the day; which we experienced on three days of our seven (next door construction, agressive chemical plant spraying from below, and work on sanding down the surface of the Blue Dolphins itself on our last evening, which drove us from the balcony). However we think this is not a regular issue, we were just there when the work had to be done in the Spring. Also note that the walk to Fira is both steep and long, not easy for the elderly, out of shape, or disabled. However, no place we have stayed at has had a more beautiful view, better food, or more helpful staff. We hope to come back as soon as we can. We strongly recommend the Blue Dolphins Traditional Apartments to our friends.

Room Tip: Ask for a room high up with a large balcony. The higher up you are, the fewer steps to go to Fira a...

We arrived in the afternoon to be greeted by Dennis, who we had exchanged emails during booking and before departure. We took our bags up to our room, told us to take our time to settle in (also with a full minibar as a gift from the hotel) and then come down to reception when we're ready and he can give us a list of things we can do. He was such a big help, with a list of top restaurants and things to do we were able to plan our week. We booked our rent-a-car and catamaran through Dennis who organised this for us. The car was delivered to the hotel and picked up too when we were done; also for the catamaran we were picked up and dropped home. Both we would recommend doing as we were able to really see all aspects of the island. We had booked a week at blue dolphins, we got to know the other residents there, especially our neighbours. On their last night they recommended we ask the hotel whether we can move to their room. (We had a honeymoon suite which was absolutely gorgeous, clean, 2 bedrooms and jacuzzi, however the balcony was very small-not a lot of space for us sun worshippers who wanted to soak up the sun on the balcony!) anyway, the hotel checked to see whether this was possible for our last2 nights and immediately helped us move into the nicer honeymoon suite with bigger bed and huge balcony with a stunning view over the whole caldera...and they offered us a free bottle of champagne!!! We highly recommend this hotel, it is in a great location from the capital of Fira and a beautiful walk to Oia, the rooms are lovely and clean, breakfasts are very good and traditional, we couldnt really fault it! We have been so looked after and would definitely come again! Thank you Blue dolphins for looking after us!

Room Tip: Honeymoon suites have a better view of caldera as they are higher up, though breakfast balcony also...

I spend the best day of my life!
we arrived at 01.00 am and the suite was there ready for us with a free bottle of champagne and fruits for our Honeymoon! the view is breathtaking! it is the most romantic place I ve been in my life. we had breakfast in the room - no charge for this- or at the veranda. Dennis helps us organised everything, a sailing trip to the volcano with a catamaran (this is a must-worth the money spend), rental cars, free sunbeds at wet stories in perivolos beach..
the suite is so nice decorated, calm colors, nice mattress, many tv channels with cinemas..
we also had a free treat from the reception white wine in the afternoon. we wanted to stay more days and there was no room available (of course) so stayed for another 3 nights in their new hotel with the pool in the caldera- Grand View- this hotel is also great maybe even better..as you are more isolated there with sunset and volcano view!
thanks you Dennis!
