I planned this trip many months ahead and did a lot of research before choosing this hotel to celebrate my birthday. We spent a week here and definitely were not disappointed and loved the Ira hotel!
I had booked and paid many months ahead so we were able to secure a great room, however I think most rooms are wonderful and unique at this fab hotel. We just loved every second in Santorini, and loved returning to Ira hotel as our home base. The views are just amazing, like everyone else says. Even if you don't have a view from your room though, there are so many balconies to sit and take advantage of an unobstructed view of the sea or sunset.
Maria welcomed us and made us feel at home right away, giving us some great info of what to do on the island.
Breakfast was nice and had something for everyone.
This is a peaceful and very well run hotel and we felt very cared for there and not just another paying guest.
All the staff was so friendly and helpful in every way. Rooms cleaned to perfection each day.
The walk into Fira town was a short way down hill and just magical views the whole way down. A good work out on the way back after dinner.
There is a great place just down a bit from the hotel to purchase delicious gyros and iced coffee also minimart for drinks and snacks.
My husband and I truly will never forget Santorini and our wonderful time at Ira hotel. We only wish we had stayed longer.

Wow! What a great place! While we did not have a sea view, we were able to have breakfast and lounge at the pool and enjoy the views. Then again, we did not spend much time in the room! maria has great info on what to do on the island All good stuff! For breakfast, ask for a tray and take the food out and sit overlooking the seas. Stunning! The entire staff is friendly and hard working. We had a late afternoon ferry so after we checked out, they held our luggage, we did some more on the rented 4 wheeler and then were able to enjoy the pool and shower back at the hotel without any extra charge. This is a great place, about 10-15 minutes from Fiora so it is nice and quiet. A few little markets close by so you could stock up on water and cold drinks. We very much enjoyed our stay here!

Although Santorini is in itself amazing, this property was outstanding. Amazing views, great breakfasts, exceptional service. A top quality/value hotel overlooking the Caldera. Definitely ask for a room overlooking the pool/Caldera.

Certainly our room at the Ira had the best view of any hotel that we have every stayed in....not just in Greece
But that was not all. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the hotel itself a perfect collection of typical Greek island buildings, the room spotlessly clean, the bed a real double and not two twins pushed together as you find in many European hotels. Our room was slightly quirky as the bathroom was down a flight of spiral stone steps.....not so good in the dark in the middle of the night. The breakfasts were fine although not as varied as on other islands.
But these slight negatives did not affect us at all, we were captivated by the view of the caldera.
The Ira is situated about 15 minutes walk down and 25 minutes up from Fira. The walk is stunning and usually took more than 15 minutes as we were always stopping to admire the constantly changing views and photographing them. The distance (and the climb) from Fira means that the hoards of cruise ship tourists have thinned out and so the location is relatively quiet and the local bars and restaurants not overcrowded.
Just one word of caution. As well as the caldera view rooms the hotel also has some overlooking the interior courtyard, so do be careful if booking a room to get one with a sea view.
For those without a view these is the pool and a lounge, both of which have the stunning view.
We will remember this place for the rest of our lives

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a caldera view

We stayed at Ira Hotel 18-25 June this year and had the most amazing time.

We booked a driver from the hotel to collect us from the airport (took ten minutes) and we were met by a lovely man in an air-conditioned Mercedes benz who gave us lots of nice tips on where to visit on the island. It was 10 euros each which is good value.

On arrival lovely Maria took care of everything for us gave us some advice on where to visit. Maria and her team are so helpful and would do anything for you. She also helped with booking a restaurant reservation for us.

The cleaners were absolutely magnificent at their job. Our room was spotless and the hotel itself was like brand new. Each day they brought us fresh beach towels and stocked up the mini fridge with water.

The complimentary breakfast was lovely with lots of choice, toast, eggs, croissants, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, fresh juice, etc - couldn't fault it.

The island is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful and on arrival we were met with magnificent views across the caldera. The location of the hotel is perfect - perched on the cliff overlooking the caldera. I trawled the internet for weeks looking for the perfect hotel for a good price and we found it.

I would recommend booking a view room.

The area of Firostefani is perfect location as it is lovely and peaceful away from the hustle and bustle of Fira and Oia. The pool is very private with the most beautiful views comfy beds and waiter service! Even when we travelled around the island I realised I liked our view the best and struggled to find a hotel I would choose the next time I go for a similar price. Don't get me wrong there are other lovely hotels but for triple the price.

Firostefani has beautiful scenery and lovely restaurants. It was a 10-15 minute walk into Fira town each night and what a beautiful walk - right along the cliff edge with stunning views.

The hotel also has excellent wi-fi. The terraces are stunning for watching the sunset. Couldn't recommend this hotel enough. You will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a view room its a must.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here the 1st week of July. The hotel has the the best location if you want to take the most out of Imerovigli and Fira since it is situated in a short walking distance from both. I have stayed in so many hotels around the world but this one is the only one you can not point a finger at anything. We were welcomed by Maria in the reception. We were trying to find a last minute room since the grand suite we had originally booked in imerovigli was full with mold (we figured out later that it is a common thing in Santorini). Maria showed us the last remaining room at the hotel "ILIOS". The room did not had a view in Caldera however is one of the best rooms we have ever stayed at. Spacious entrance space, a big wardrobe and our room separated with white curtains from the rest of the place that gave a romantic touch to our staying. On the top of that the bathroom had a bath top that was far beyond our expectations. The rooms are so clean that you feel like home immediately. There was a welcome basket waiting for us with shower gel, body cremes, flip flops and even cotton buds and towels for the swimming pool. Furthermore the outdoor area of the hotel is fantastic. The pool area is very cozy with a spectacular view of the volcano and of course the pool was super clean. The breakfast served in the morning was delicious and has a variety of fresh greek products. Everyone from the personal was super helpful and polite always with a big smile. We tried almost everything from the roomservice menu and it was delicious and not expensive at all compared to the prices in Santorini. At the end of our stay when we checked out we asked if we could leave our bags because we had a late night flight. They let us not only use all the areas of the hotel, including the pool but they provided us with towels and gave us access to a shower so we can enjoy the full day in Santorini (without any extra charge). To sum up Ira expresses Greek hospitality in its perfect form. I fully recommend the hotel since at the end of the day we felt like we paid little for what it was provided and definitely it can make some of the best five star resorts and hotels we have stayed cry! Big thanks to everybody because they really managed to give us a great experience!

Room Tip: All the rooms in the hotel are excellent. We stayed at ILIOS and it was spectacular, you are not goi...
