We stayed here last summer and we were happy with the accomodations. Our room was right in front of the pool area and a side window overlooking one of those signature santorini domes. Breakfast was great! You can eat all you want and prepare for the long walk around the island. Good location too, it's near restaurants and bus stop if you plan to take the bus to Oia or Fira.

After getting the local bus from Fira with less than helpful driver we stopped at Firostefani - the first stop on the way to Oia (make sure you tell the driver or they'll keep on driving). A short haul up the hill (200 metres) on the cobbled walkway and there was Villa Ilias perched on the cliff top straddling both sides of the pathway.
Here we met Mary. She proved to be the real star of the hotel. Friendly and helpful - just wonderful. She provided great information that made our three night stay great.
We stayed in Room 11 that had a great balcony to the side with a room window over the Caldera. A small bathroom/toilet may not be suitable for someone who has mobility problems. But as we came for the view and a central location and not to sleep in the shower it was fine. The tiny kitchenette has some crockery and cutlery - all good.
A small but adequate pool for cooling off with sun chairs and a great view of the sunset - why bother going with the cast of thousands to Oia.
Santorini isn't our favourite island but if you are coming for a few days and you want a peaceful oasis in amongst the crowds Villa Ilias is one of the best!

Room Tip: We stayed in 11 ( I think it was classed as a Superior Room) suggest that you stay at above pool lev...

My wife and me really enjoyed our staying at Villa Ilias in Firostefani. We enjoyed the beautiful sunsets every evening from our balcony so we did not need to go to Oia for it. The hotel is on the main walking path, few minutes away from the centre where the restaurants and shops are.It is also away from the busy night life so it is very quiet if you want to have a good night sleep. The pool area and the pool are fantastic. The busy Fira town centre is 15 minutes walk away from the Villa. The staff was really helpful when we tried to arrange activities for each day, rent a car, transports or if we needed anything else. The breakfast was delicious and we had so many choices! We had a fantastic time! We highly recommend Villa Ilias to everyone visiting Santorini!

The hotel is simple but clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are very very small and so is the bathroom. A tall person should reconsider booking the smaller rooms because taking shower will mean trouble.
There is one great thing about this hotel. Location. it has a wonderful view of the caldera with not no many stairs (only rooms in the main building - those villas for families have stairs and are away from the rest of the hotel). It is about ten minutes walking from Thira downtown.

This was our 7th stay at Villa Ilias. George and his staff never fail to disappoint. The hotel is right on the main caldera walking path which makes the location perfect. The rooms all have views and have all of the amenities you will need. The sunsets from your balcony or the pool area are amazing so there is no need to fight the sunset crowds in Oia. Within a few blocks of the hotel are many restaurants, shops, a mini market, and the bus stop which makes getting around the island easy. Villa Ilias is in Firostefani which is in the middle of the island. The breakfasts are very complete, especially with Marina's daily delicacies. George and Mary will help you with anything you need as far as sight seeing, transfers, etc. George has lived on Santorini his entire life so he know everyone and everything and is a great resource. We would highly recommend Villa Ilias to anyone who wants a traditional family run hotel in Santorini.

Room Tip: Reserve a room facing directly onto the caldera.

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Villa Ilias. In addition to the great location, view, rooms, and delicious breakfast, the staff was outstanding. Helped with EVERYTHING included assisting us with airline customer service in trying to locate a missing bag! The accommodations and customer service were superb. I highly recommend it!

Our travel agent Chevy booked Villa Ilias for us for our stay in Santorini and we are so happy that he did. We arrived by ferry quite early in the morning, way too early for most humans to be up, yet when we got to the hotel, they immediately came out to greet us and take us to our room so we could rest a bit while the sun came out. We were charmed with the place, but probably even more charmed with the staff, whose graciousness and kindness won a place in our hearts! Thank you George, Mary and Marina, as well as our cleaning lady for making our stay there quite special and for taking the time to explain to us where to go and what to do. In addition, Villa Ilias is quite strategically located. Not only does it have a magnificent view of the caldera in front of the rooms and pool, but it is also right in the middle of the island, only a 15-minute walk from Fira, the capital of Santorini and quite a busy little town, where you can catch a bus to anywhere else on the island (that is, if you are not the adventurous type to rent your own motorcycle or smart car!) And we did exactly that. First we walked down the cobblestone path to Fira, enjoying the view and the small stores along the way. We looked down into the turquoise waters and admired the white-washed houses, apartments and hotels clinging to the cliffs. We also got to see the cable car bringing up passengers from the cruise ships. Once in Fira we easily took a bus to the black lava beaches for a little sunbathing and swimming and then another to explore Oía at the other end of the island. We only had one day in Santorini and there was so much to do! It was impossible to do and see it all. However, Villa Ilias proved to be perfect for this trip. Our stay was great. The rooms are plain but quite comfortable, air conditioned (or heated if the weather is cold), with satellite TV, good Internet reception, a mini fridge and coffee maker and a little porch with chairs right in front of the room where you can sit and look at the magnificent scenery. Believe me, this is where you will spend most of your time---outside enjoying the most wonderful view! If there are any complaints I might say that the shower is a bit small (but we found that too be true almost everywhere else we stayed!). We also noticed that there were some books and movies available at the lobby, but we were not there long enough to make use of any of these amenities. And we definitely did not need the coffee maker as the buffet breakfast Marina makes daily is spectacular, all with fresh ingredients and many of the local Greek favorites! That evening, we watched the sunset from the pool alongside a young Canadian couple staying in the room next door to us. They were staying there for two whole weeks and with their infant son. For those staying with small children, this couple mentioned that they had researched where to stay because it was their first time traveling with their baby and that they were very glad they had chosen Villa Ilias, from where they could walk to the market and back, and that had a little stove and refrigerator in their room for the baby’s food in addition to having such a great staff that helped them with everything. Well, all I could think was that this couple knew what they were doing and I hope I can go back there again soon. Next time may be even follow their example and stay in Villa Ilias for at least a whole week if not two and really relax and enjoy myself! I have no hesitation recommending this place to my friends and family!
