We were travelling from Mykonos to Santorini. Our Ferry Boat was behind schedule and we had delays in Patros and Ios. We got to Santorini 2 hours later than we were supposed to and we were island hopping with a broken luggage (not fun). We were a bit tired from our trip, but when we finally arrived at Kafieris Hotel, a very pretty and ever so pleasant Hostess named Maria opened the door wide open and with a beautiful big smile greeted us and told us that she was waiting for us. Let me tell you, Maria was so pleasant and accommodating that we forgot about being tired and excited about our visit to Santorini again. Originally, when we booked our room on line, there was only one room left with no view. Maria upgraded our room, not only with a view that took my breath away, but also with private access to the terrace which includes a small pool. Our room was clean with all amenities and we are so happy with our stay here. Maria was really helpful in telling us where to go shop (for a new luggage, lol) and great restaurants. Kafieris Hotel is perfectly located. I would recommend this hotel. There are many Hotels that offer a view, but there is only one Maria, and you will find her in Kafieris Hotel.

Room tip: Room 8 has breathtaking views

We got a room with a stunning view of the caldera. Even if you stay at one of the other rooms, you can enjoy the view from the terrace. Maria, the owner, was very able in helping us throughout our stay.

Central and close to a bus stop. A great view. Not luxurious but clean and comfortable. Separate kitchen. Reminds you of typical Greek living. Breakfast was sufficient and tasty. Staff was friendly and helpful.

We booked Kafieris as our splurge at almost 200$ a night in the beginning of the off-season. Expecting at least a 3 star experience we were very disappointed. While the rooms were cozy and equipped with stoves and fridges and more like a traditional North American apartment, the beds were very uncomfortable and the washrooms were dirty. We enjoyed drinks on the balcony that we bought from a liquor store down the road and although you don't plan on staying at your hotel most of the time you're on vacation, you certainly shouldn't be wishing that you were staying at all of the other hotels that you see. The pool (which is more like a small hot tub with cold water), was filled with a light green water. The location gives you a great view and is a long walk from town so be sure you're in great shape if you plan to walk. Also, groceries are key, they have nothing on-site. The "breakfast" is nothing to phone home about; cold meats, cheese and bread! We stayed in 5 hotels in Greece this was the most expensive by far... And rated as the lowest on our list.
