“Great views and great staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2012

We visited in the off season, so although the weather was not the greatest this was made up for by the amazing views and friendly accommodating staff. The hotel is clean and homely, the rooms are a reasonable size and have everything you need. The only blight on the trip was confusing this hotel for another with a similar name moments down the road, but when we called the hotel they where quick to come and pick us up and take us to where we needed to be.

Overall the service at the hotel was good. The shuttle picked us up from the port free of charge. The rooms were decent. The lady running the place seems to be doing everything herself from making breakfast to cleaning the rooms. The cleanliness could be improved but I do understand that she is one person and thus will overlook this. The showers are very small and the shower curtain tends to stick to you when you shower. One thing on the whole island including this hotel, you cannot flush toilet paper down the toilet. You must put it in the bin. It was a bit of a shocker but you get used to it. We enjoyed our stay here, as we were out for most of the day and only slept there. One last thing, it is quite a steep walk to Fira so be prepared. There are back streets between the local houses but it still takes you 20 min to walk to Fira.

This is a fairly small hotel and so are the rooms, average but not so cheap. The rooms are bit small especially for couples with children. They have a small wardrobe and a kitchenette to prepare the usual. Luckily our room shared with the next door a beautiful balcony with a breathtaking view of the Cyclades islands and the ocean. The breakfast was right for such hotels, It came with the necessary for the first meal of the day. The staff was friendly and answered our questions in English not very understandable. The hotel is located on top of the hill so it is a bit hard to get there with a lot of luggage, so only a backpack and wil be grateful. So you should choose between the comfort of a large hotel or offered wonderful views of the Caldera (for us this was priceless) to sit at breakfast overlooking a deep blue Aegean Sea, feeling a little breeze, without any background noise that bothers us was incomparable even if we must sacrifice a bit of glamor and space.

Room Tip: Ask for 2º floor rooms, try not to get a big luggages there.

You cannot knock the location! Its at the very top of this part of Firostefani with simply superb views but once you have said that, sadly, you have covered all the positives

The room was damp - one wardrobe door hinge is rusted solid, the external blinds are false (without the correct openings in the surface to ventilate) and do not allow enough ventiation, so much so that after closing them for one night the inside of the blinds was running with condensation. Clothes left in the wardrobe over night were damp by morning. To describe Room 6 as 'Spacious' (as the website does) is a poor joke - 3 beds in c 10' X 11' is not spacious, there is hardly enough space to walk between the beds. The kitchen has a sink with hot and cold taps but the Hot tap is connected to the cold supply, as is the cold! The wash basin in the bathroom (with holes in the ceiling and tile grouting missing in places) had no plug and one of the taps has lost its chrome. The tiled floor and shower tray are very slippery and close to dodgy when wet and one tiny bath mat doesnt solve the problem. The lady receptionist/general factotum is very obliging but has a lack of language skills and surpriningly did not know that Museums in Greece are apparently NOT open on Mondays so - even knowing that was where we were headed - she didnt offer any advice and when we mildly remonstrated on return that our day had been wasted and it would have been nice if she had told us - she seemed to be as surprised as we were.

The administration failed to confirm in advance that we would be met at the harbour despite our asking on the Bookings.com booking site and chasing up directly by email.

The price for this room was exhorbitant and there was no approved room price notice inside the door, as we saw in other places we stayed at in Greece, and we decided to save ourselves the hassle of complaining and prefer to caution others not to expect too much.

Santorini prices seem high compared with elsewhere and it is a truly lovely island but I wouldnt stay again or advise others to stay at Kafieris Apartments (on the cliff) and would have willingly paid more for something closer to what the website led me to expect had I known more in advance.

Room Tip: Don't chose Room 6.... and, if others are to be trusted.... don't chose the top floor!

We arrived to the hotel late at night and then next morning we were amazed by the view; it was breath-taking! This hotel is less luxurious that similar ones on the cliff, but it is excellent quality for the price and has an amazing location (we were even able to witness a wedding going on at a lower part of the cliff). We were also happy that the shuttle bus came to pick us up from and brought us back to the port.
The only thing slightly annoying is that the person serving breakfast was not very friendly. But the person at the front desk made up for it.

My wife and I visited Santorini in june 2011. Service was always good and friendly. Stella, our host gave us good tips were to find restaurants and cheaper shops. Rooms were a bit worn but always clean. Renovation in the next door apartment was the only disturbance during our stay. The view to caldera was magnificent!!! Value was more than excellent.
