“Great food”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

The first time we went there was not very good because the was a blackout and the restaurant was fuller than full. We sat next to the open window where all the traffic back from Oia was passing by and we had to wait for our food for a long time.
The second and third time we went there, it wasn't nearly as full. We had tables inside the restaurant and the service was very friendly. The food was sooo good, especially the special Simos appetizer and the tsatsiki. When we asked for the recipes the chef came and wrote it down for us. The prize was much cheaper than the restaurants with caldera view.

“Average and Lacking Friendliness!”
Reviewed August 24, 2013 via mobile

We have had some wonderful Greek taverna experiences in Santorini, such as Thursday night music night at Tasos Taverna, but this place was a real disappointment.

Service was slow and unfriendly. One older lady serving us was very austere and was not a bit welcoming. The food was average and they omitted to bring us our starters.

Half way through our meal a talented young boy came into the restaurant and played Greek music on the accordion, which was lovely. However the moment was spoilt when he came round the tables begging for money, which he then gave to the stern restaurant owner. Completely unacceptable and uncomfortable!!

There are so many good restaurants in the area. This is one to avoid!

“Smoking in non-smoking restaurant!”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

The first time I have heard about this restaurant it was from a Santorini map I got at the gas station and immediately thought I will not go there exactly for this reason as it looks to be just a touristic place. I have forgotten its name immediately and got there by accident as it was the first restaurant next to parking with a nice donkey I was taking photos of. Anyway, I was nicely surprised with the food quality and the way they are offering you starters (that was the moment I knew I have already read about it). All starters are placed on a huge tray and the waitress shows you one by one telling you what is it and what it contains. Even if it is a non-smoking restaurant both owners (British couple living in Santorini for many years) and their friends were smoking one cigarette after another so we could not enjoy the lovely grilled fish plate for two (35€). When you ask for a bill, a small free dessert will be brought to you. In the evening it is really dark there, so sorry for the pics quality...

“Bit remote but wortwhile the walk”
Reviewed August 19, 2013 via mobile

Simos is about 8 min walk from the center of Fira. We visited this place first time in 2006 and quality and owner did not change. A good restaurant with reasonable prices. Sometimes the traffic noise is a bit loud, but if you want some air choose a window seat. If you don't know the Greek food to well, the waiter will show you an example on a big plate. Original and easy!
The dishes are tastful and variated. Try the zucchini and Greek salad as a starter and souvlaki, pastitio or even better stifado as a main course. Or do it the Greek way: every dish on the middle of the table and a small dish for everone.
Simos will not disappoint you!,!
