“Mediterranean blue”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

Our stay at the Kafieri apartments was overall nice and pleasant, with only minor issues:

- when booking online we had asked for twin beds and higher floors, and on arrival in the evening we were sent to a lower floor double bed and rather small apartment (I'm still not sure they have twin bed apartments)
- after talking to the members of the family they promised to change us the next day to an upper floor and bigger room with two beds, which they did...
- bath curtains are too short (can't understand why they don't change them...)
- breakfast is rather basic
- most of staff speaks really poor english, which leads to some misunderstanding (on the transfer to the port they forgot to tell us other guests would also be catered and when we arrived to the hotel 5 minutes late everyone was stressed looking for us and we had to pack in a hurry, and that could have been avoided...)

On the positive side:

- the property is spotlessly clean and the view is absolutely astonisihing

- in result, what might be a very basic breakfast results in a breathtaking experience...

- it has a reasonably sized pool, unlike most of the surrounding properties

- the staff is overall nice

- it is a 15 minute walk to Fira, and there are lots of nice restaurants on the way where to enjoy the amasing view.

So, it turned out to be a memorable experience, and Santorini is really one of the places you should go before you die...

Room Tip: Ask for upper floors, big room

i stayed there for 4 days. The view was wonderful, the sunset from our balcony was much more beautiful than in Oia. I've never seen such hospitality to another hotel. The staff was polite and smiling. The breakfast was wonderful with views of the volcano and Thirasia. We also enjoyed the warm jacuzzi. We will absolutely be back!

The rooms were quite large and the view out of the door was amazing! The sunset here is amazing!! It is still worth checking out hte sunset in Oia however the sunset out the front door (or in the jacuzzi) is equally amazing! Has good views of the Volcano. The owner was very friendly and so was the lady that cleaned the rooms and brought out breakfast. It is a 10-15 min walk into Fira, there is a bus stop on the main road just above (up all the stairs!!) The rooms are very clean and have a kitchenette also. Only issue was the shower which is quite small and so water gets out a fair bit however this apparently is normal for the area and the bathroom is designed to drain this and it isn't a deal breaker in my opinion.
We travelled just before the season started (arrived 29th April) so the pool wasn't full for the first 2 days of our stay however once we could use it, was great! :)

Room Tip: All the rooms have an amazing view. Maybe in the busier times try and not have a room right near the...

We stayed at Kafieris Blue Apartments for three days in the first week of September and for the price, think you would be hard pressed to find better. Our spotless 4 person apartment had two full/queen beds, along with a separate kitchen area with fridge, kettle, cooktop and microwave. It was absolutely perfect for our family of four. The views from our room were amazing and we enjoyed many lingering hours of just soaking it in. Yes, you will have about 50 steps up to the main streets of Firostefani, but for me, this is to be expected cliffside. There were restaurants right at the top of the stairs, along with mini mart, liquor store, coffee shop, etc. or you could follow the cliffside path into Fira in about 10-15 minutes, which didn't seem long as you had incredible views all the way. Bus stop was a few hundred meters down the road to bring you into Fira main station, where you could connect to anywhere else on the island. The pool, although the water was cool in early September, was magnificent and very refreshing after a day out and about. Breakfast was served on tables poolside for those in the higher rooms, or right outside your door for those on the lower levels. Our room was on the third floor up from the pool and I would want exactly the same next time. I will agree with prior reviews that the shower was small and the shower curtain not long enough so that the bathroom floor got wet, but it is designed to drain, and not the first I've seen of this in Europe. This would certainly not be a deterrent. We had no trouble whatsoever with our booking, transfer and receiving exactly what we were promised in advance. I would strongly recommend this property, and will be back in a heartbeat on future visits to Santorini. Thank you Eleutheria and family for an incredible stay on your beautiful island!

My husband and I stayed at Kefieres Blue Suites for our honeymoon. We made our reservation last minute and also added an extra room once we arrived as we had an extra guest. We were easily accommodated. The view from our room was amazing and we had our own balcony. I believe for the money it is well worth it! It is a family owned hotel which makes it comfortable and relaxing for the guests. Most of all, all our requests were met and the owners were more than happy to accommodate us. One thing in general travelers should note, most of the businesses in Santorini (hotels, restaurants, and stores) prefer being paid in cash over credit cards. That wasn't something we expected in such a touristy place.

We stayed here from 01.Aug.2012 for a week and are very satisfied with this hotel. The view is fantastic and you can even watch the sunset just from your balcony - almost no reason to go to Oia :) (Kidding, Oia is more than sunset and definitely worth a visit). The volcano and the beautiful deep blue sea make the perfect atmosphere. Location is great. We walked everyday to Fira along the small paths, takes roughly 10-15 min and we enjoyed the scene on the way. From Fira there are good local bus connections to all the attractions like Oia, Kamari, Perissa etc. The nice thing about the location is that you have the convenience of Fira but you can escape from the noise and crowds so that you can enjoy peaceful moments with the terrific view on the cliff over the Aegean see. The staff are very friendly and helpful, although only few of them speak good English. The room is pretty basic but has everything we need. They have a nice swimming pool and jacuzzi too. You can also cook here but we did not do that since we were out most of the time. Local small supermarkets nearby. All in all a nice choice for us. Santorini is really magic!
