lovely beach, nice breeze to keep you cool. We loved the beach as it was not very crowded and enough beds to choose a quite spot near to the bars. No pedlars when we visited at the end of September 2013. Sandy in places with spots that have fine gravel. Rocky in some places which is better for snorkelling. beds at 5 euro a pair with parasol and plenty of choice.

Platanias beach is a nice beach, it's nice that there is a lot of places you can go and eat it while being right by the ocean. The beach itself though isn't the best, there is a lot of rocks by the water and the sand isn't super soft. It's a beach you can't expect that much from it since it pretty much changes from how the water is, or how much the water brings I should say.

It was beautiful, just hard to walk on.
Lots of restaurants and plenty of room for people to lounge, play in the water and waves.

A lot of previous reviews complain that the beach is not sandy as advertised, this is obviously a let down if a sandy beach is high on your holiday destination wish list. The majority of the beach is a little rocky as you enter and you could easily slip. However if you head towards the man made rock seperators by the olive tree restaurant you will find it is much sandier and much more pleasant for dipping in and out. You'll probably notice there's more people around already dipping in the sea so this is a clear indication of where to go. Sun beds are about 2.50 euros here should you want one.

Quite clean, lots of sunbeds, but not really truly sandy. More shale in places. Sea could be rough on windy days.
