we (wife and me) stayed at the hotel from April 24 to May 1 in room 107. Room 107 is a 2 rooms apartment situated at ground floor close to the pool and bar area, which probably in the high season is too close to the pool and bar unless you love high Greek music and "noising" kids from early morning to late evening. However we enjoined room 107 and despite is was at ground floor there was plenty of sunshine all day and not to forget the room was only 2 minutes walk from the sandy private (hotel) beach. WiFi available for 25 euro for a week, but the signal was very bad in the room, but reasonable outside at the balcony.
As the hotel are located in the center of Platanias with a huge number of restaurants and bars, we had no meals at the hotel. However various meals and drink packages are available from all inclusive to individual meals and drinks packages and in fact to reasonable prices.
I had to add that for families with kids are all inclusive a great benefit.
The hotel are based on families with children in all age, which means you don't have to use an alarm clock in the morning as most families are up around 7, which quite natural create some noise from the surrounding rooms/areas, not a big issue and you have then the benefit that after 10 in the evening are most light turned off in rooms.
The hotel staff was service minded, especially in the reception, but Caldera Bay is a charter tourist hotel, where most people stay for a week, prepaid in there home country and not a hotel where individuals make reservations or drop in from the street and that's make a difference in the service level.
Self catering is a possibility as there is many supermarkets close to the hotel, but as the kitchen
facilities in rooms are very spartan don't expect to be able to create and serve even simply meals except maybe a fried or boiled egg.
