Me and my girlfriend stayed here in June 2007. we got a bargain, paid £200 for 2 weeks S/C. We had been warned about the hills but as we were young we didnt mind.
rooms were very clean, had a few ants but concidering it is located built in to a mountain, it can only be expected. room was an excellent size, 2 storey,2 bedrooms with a down stairs living area. great for just 2 people.
we did not have much contact with the owners/staff as we like to get out and about, but when we approached them they seemed very nice.
the only problem i feel anybody could claim about this hotel is the hill it is built on. it is a 45 degree pitch up to the enterance. we hired moped, and this struggled at times to get up the hill, but the Greek village that it is located in makes it well worth it. it is situated above Hersonissos, in a little village with plenty of resturaunts/shops and lively bars up there which were amazing and you will never need to go down to Hersonissos. there is so much choice in terms of bars and places to eat and the views are amazing from the restraunts. the best word to describe the village is beautiful. We spent most of our nights up the hill and only went down to Heresonssioss a couple of times.
You can get a taxi down to Heresonisos for around 10 euros. We spent some nights in Malia also, you can get a bus from the bottom of the hill for a couple of euros and we got a taxi back at night for around 25 euros. This is a great place to go as you get so many different options of where you can spend your time, in the village, hersonisos, star beach or malia. This is more a couples place than a mates or singles in my opinion.
we would definatly reconmend gettin a moped / quad so you can go to the different places if you are there for 2 weeks. A couple we met there were only there for a week and they did not leave the top of the hill as it was so lovely.
In terms of value I'd say it depends on how much you pay for the holdiday. If you want to spend all your time in hersonisos then it may cost you too much to get up and down the hill. if you want to spend your like we did then we'd say its value for money! this was one of our best holidays and location of hotel made it as we may not have been exposed to that kind of village holiday. It really is worth a visit and I'm sure you'd fall in love with the village like we did!
