Frida Village Apartments

Came here with four female friends in June. Upon arrival we had to drag our heavy cases up the steps to our apartment which was quite annoying.
In the Frida apartments, you are only provided with one toilet roll and then you have to buy your own after that. That is something I have never experienced anywhere I've ever stayed and I thought it was terrible as we did pay 400+ for the holiday each.
The cleaner was also very hesitant about providing us with clean towels and bedsheets, there was 5 girls staying in the apartment and we took showers every evening. She complained about our sheets being too dirty? Surely that's her job to wash them. It was very hot while we were there, between 35-40 degrees so naturally you would sweat alot.

The security guard in the frida was also extremely irritating, on the first night we arrived late(about 12 am) so we wanted to explore the complex but he was shouting at us to get in. This nonsense carried on for the whole week. We werent allowed sit out on our balcony and talk after a certain time or play music in the apartment without him beating down the door. We were on holiday not in a boarding school. We certainly weren't being overly loud or disruptive in anyway.

Can't say there was anything wrong with the pool area and the bar food was quite nice, but definately not worth the money that we paid for it.

Just back from a week in Frida, it started off by them putting us into the wrong room while paying for a studio we actually were given a tiny corner room, which was flooded on arrival from the previous guests which clogged the drain with there hair that had not been cleaned ALSO there was yellow and toothpaste stains on the sink. To add to this there was numerous condom wrappers visibly on the ground and on the side of the bed boards, not only that there the ware was not washed and had coffee stains on the cups, the cleaner was meant to come in on a daily base but refused to do so .On the days she did make appearance she was very laid back and REFUSED to change the bed sheets and clean the shower. BUT not only that she used the same cloth that she wiped the toilet bowl with she also wiped work top and sink. i found that revolting. Now if things were not up to standard in the room, the pools manky there was dirt and soil on the ground of the pool never mind that the floors during the day were serious health hazard. The ladder on the pool was faulty one bar was completely discounted to the ground, that defeated the whole purpose I was repulsed at the standard in frida i do understand they are very basic but there is a fine line between basic and cleaniness. Might i also mention there was a 50euro fee for the air conditioning which i found appalling due to the temperatures reaching to 46oc at one stage on the holiday. There was also a fee on the safe of 11euro that you pay on arrival unknown to you that the safe is visibly and at a easy access to passers by if the window is open. i would not recommend any one to stay i found the owners of Frida some what racist on numerous encounters towards my Nigerian friends. i do not this appropriate.

Just back from Crete, lovely two weeks enjoyed at the Frida apartments, young, lively, not really suitable for families but nice stay nonetheless. Donal and Conor in the onsite Hill 16 pub will make you feel welcome and give you access to whatever sports you want to watch, as well as lots of activities including karaoke, pool competitions and more. The lovely Anna will feed you with food and drink at the poolside bar, I found the food to be really nice, basic, but perfect for an afternoon snack. Nicely situated about a kilometre up the hill from Hersonissos, and in the heart of Piskopiano which is lovely, lots of nice places to eat, Kostas and Lichnos the two we enjoyed most. Hersonissos is a pleasant walk away but is more than likely a taxi journey back as the climb is a bit steep particularly in the heat of Crete, Didn't go out in Hersonissos that much when we were there, but we did eat in a lovely restaurant called Mythos just near the Dutch area, couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Had a gr8 holiday in Piskopiano at the end of May this year!! 4 friends going for a relaxing chilled out holiday! The staff in the apt & the hill 16 pub were soo friendly, from a previous comment home from home! the bar food was fab and the rooms were very very clean. please be careful about the step in the bathroom the floor is slightly raised as you leave the bathroom, banged my toe & it was very very soar :( the layout of 1room could do with a revamp we banged our feet by the bed and the cupboard a few times. i couldn't fault our room! the people are so friendly. left up on the hill are a long line of restaurants - hit & miss people! 1 of the best restaurants we ate at was "Mezes Restaurant" by Alex & Christine, past the big well in the middle of the road as you walk a little :) such lovely people and unreal food sooo tasty! steak, chicken pasta dishes, their wine OMG! we ate there 4 times it was that good! right down the hill is the strip, service in the 1restaurant wasn't great so we left before dessert! the security guard in the hotel is a bit annoying but i suppose good that its there. food & shopping are reasonable. alot of tourist shops enjoy!

This is just like being at home really only the weather is better. the place is run by Orla and her husband Manos, the perfect hosts. The nearest bar, Hill sixteen is also connected but run by Donal. The atmosphere is most friendly in both establishments and no messing is tolerated. The frieda is to be recommended to anyone wanting a fantastic holiday with no interference from the "wild crowd" but who still want lots of fun and an odd late session

Room Tip: In may all rooms were perfect, on this occaision we had a room beside the breakfast bar and it was b...

So Im from Ireland Co. Limerick myself and my partner statyed in the Frida Apartments 301 which was located near to the pool but in a corner. The apartment was very basis which I think all the reviews are saying but clean. The shower was filthy like black scum coming off it when you take a shower could have used a bottle of bleach. We asked for the a/c to be turned on which was a reasonable price 14e for 5 days. But the a/c was useless barely any breeze out of it and as the bed were situated behind the bathroom wall the a/c had no effect whatsoever. Buy a fan guys! Ok the staff were lovely especially Anna behind the bar near the pool. The pool was lovely clean and front small pool also lovely. Now the apartment is about 1km uphill but we did not avail of a taxi €7 we walked it every day as I enjoyed the excerise. You can rent a moped €10 2 days if you like. We ate in a Restaurant up the hill gosh! what was the name Mento or something like that just 2 doors uphill from apt. Fab food the waiter was a gas man the staff very friendly so we ate here every nite. Tried all the traditional foods from fish to rabbit to pork and drank the ouzo and reki lovely. Price for 4 courses including 1lt wine and cocktail €40total. The first beach we went to was tiny and full of lava in the sea. So we went to Stalis beach which was fab slippery in the sea but nice place to lay out. You can get your cocktails served to you buy the guy who supplies the sun loungers €6 for the loungers. The bar/restaurants on the beach front are lovely place to eat also. We ate swordfish, octopus, squid etc lovely. The shops are much the same as Ireland as in the price of clothes/shoes is much the same. Beer is €3 and cocktails vary from €4.50 upwards. We had a scottish rep who was very difficult to understand (Thomas Cook,) he spoke very fast and didn't seem to give anyone the chance to hear what he was actually saying but saying that he was a nice guy, even though his knowledge of the island could be brushed up on as he didn't know where the post office was located and didn't know if there was post box on the streete. Ok we booked the WaterCity and Spinalonga trips. €104 alltogether. The WaterCity was fab great slides and absailing over the pool was pretty kool. Lockers and showeres/toilets on site. Locker is €6 but u get €3 back on return of key. Spinalonga was a bus trip then boat trip. The lady organising this was also not on the ball. She collected the entrance fee from us on the coach €3 which was grand so we got on the boat and had to sit in the baking heat for the other buses to arrive half hour then we had to sit another 20mins baking because they didn't collect the entrace fee on the other coaches so everyone had to pack around the bar and pay her. Doh!! So off we went on the boat trip lovely views got to the island Spinalonga and she said to follow her she would be on the left side had to look everyplace for her. The we finally to into the place and No Smoking by the way,,, she gave us the history of the place, we could barely hear her as the other tour guides were directly behind us talking to their crowd about the history. We got so up on top of other tours that we missed out on someplaces to visit as she rushed us onwards. But it is a lovely place and I do recommend going there it was where all the lepers we banished to and left to live and fend for themselves. We docked in the bay of Elounda and went swimming and had a BBQ on the boat then which was lovely and well organised. So that's what we did on our trip. Best laugh of all was getting from Hersonissos Airport had to que under a tent for 15mins as they only allow a certain amount of people in the Airport as it is long but now wide enough. Checked in fine but they have an old fashioned way of checking in the under bagage it doesn't automatically go on the belt at check in but you take it over to a seperate belt for checking it. Then you wait 10mins for a shuttle bus to take you like 20m to the plane. The journey from Ireland was 5 hr there is no dvd on the plane to watch so make sure you take plenty to amuse yourself or kiddies. Ok that's my review. So I love Crete!!

Room Tip: Makes little difference as we request a balcony view and got stuck in a dark corner with just the ba...
