“Fab hols”
Reviewed April 17, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

Upon arrival at La Tocade we were really impressed at the high level of decoration and furnishings. We felt very much at home once we had put the kettle on. Being two families both with children (us with older ones who slept in bunk beds in hall), the bedrooms were comfortable with plenty of room. Other family had 2 younger children so had the larger bedroom which slept all 4 of them comfortably. The attention to detail to ensure people could relax in comfort was lovely. It was like staying at a friends apartment rather than a rental property, definitely the best rental we have stayed in. Whilst there was a wonderful local bakery selling a few essentials, there was a lack of local convenience store and the supermarket was a car or bus journey away which was a shame but then again having the gondola within a 2 minute walk was fantastic, especially with kids in ski boots. We drove and hit a supermarket on route so had a full weeks shopping on arrival so I would strongly recommend arriving fully prepared with food. Again we did stay when we were somewhat snowed in and so didn't want to risk the drive. Overall I would highly recommend this accommodation for winter holidays although I can imagine that a summer break here would be equally as lovely.

“Perfectly positioned for the slopes”
Reviewed April 7, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Fantastic apartment, beautifully decorated, very homey with everything we needed. Space for drying gear out of the way, and storing kit. We really enjoyed returning to La Tocade after a busy day snowboarding. Close to the slopes with off road parking. Just perfect!

“An amazing place to stay!”
Reviewed September 20, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We visited La Tocade in July/August this year. A wonderfully comfortable and stylish apartment, well done owners for creating this masterpiece! La Tocade is situated in the beautiful village of Chatel, just a few miles from the Swiss border. It was a superb place to come home to having spent a busy day seeing where the ski lifts could take us, or visiting the easily accessible Chamonix/Mont Blanc or picturesque Montreux. The apartment has everything you could possible need or want. What could be better than opening a bottle of wine, sitting on the balcony and taking in the stunning views on offer? Having seen this amazing place in the summer I can't wait to visit again when the snow is around.

“Great place to stay winter or summer”
Reviewed July 24, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Chatel is a very picturesque alpine village and the apartment is situated in the outlying but close district of Villapeyron. The delightful views from the apartment are of the valley with the mountain of Linga towering above. The apartment itself is very spacious and comfortably furnished to a high specification. It has a comprehensively kitted out kitchen with everything you could need for a visit. It also has a Bose system speaker for an i-pod with a useful Bluetooth attachment, full internet access, Wii games, TV of course, DVDs, and other forms of entertainment.
There is a sunny balcony which is a great place to sip a coffee or glass of wine while admiring the extensive views.
The village itself has a lively bar scene and many places to eat. It is conveniently situated to visit places in both France and Switzerland, with Italy being accessible within 3 hours or so. The village has a new swimming pool which will be a great amenity.

“Comfortable and cozy chalet apartment”
Reviewed March 13, 2014 for a stay in February 2014

We were greeted at La Tocade after been guided to the door on my phone. Very quick and friendly check in. We were told and felt we could treat the apartment as our home for the week.
Very well decorated, pretty Alpine furniture and excellent kitchen equipment. The only reason I didn't give an 'excellent' rating is because, although there was plenty of space for us, 3 adults and 1 teenager...there is only one toilet and a separate shower room. An extra 'loo' would be a good idea in the shower room, especially if there were to be 6 people staying.

“This appartment helped make this mountain holiday one our best yet.”
Reviewed September 9, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

We stayed in this property for two weeks while in the alps for a mountain bike/outdoor orientated holiday and found the apartment to be exactly what was needed after a day on the lifts.
The apartment was extremely well equipped, more so than we anticipated, and meant that we really lacked nothing while cooking and relaxing at any point during the stay. All rooms are very large and there is plenty of storage space for all of the 'stuff' you find yourself taking. There were only two us staying but I would happily go back with a larger group of friends as there is plenty of space to sleep six comfortably.
The apartment is a little bit out of the main centre of Chatel but this wasn't a problem for us in any way as the walk up the hill only took 10-15 minutes to get to the main bars, restaurants and shops etc. The walk back is all downhill which helped no end after a few drinks in one of the bars! If you don't fancy the walk there is a bus stop about 150 meters from the door which regularly goes up to the village, these busses also travel between all the resorts main lifts and are well set up to carry bikes and riders if that is what you are there for.
We would definitely use this apartment again, for either a summer or winter holiday and would highly recommended it to anyone looking to stay in the area. We also felt that for the price, even just for the two of us, it represents extremely good value.

“All the convenience of home”
Reviewed July 24, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

If you are thinking of a rental in Chatel for your family and don't want to take the kitchen sink with you from home then you can't go wrong with this lovely cozy attic conversion.
The rental looked very much like the pictures, but what you can't see is that the owners leave you with more than most holiday homes - convenience items like bin bags, toilet roll, fairy liquid, salt, pepper etc are left for you, as are plenty of fluffy towels and an excellent stock of kitchenware.
The beds were very comfortable - bed linen is not just boring plain-washed-1000 times, but has been carefully chosen to suit the country cottage theme. The shower is great, TV and internet work well, and the balcony is a nice feature in the summer.
I think this would be fantastic in the winter, but it was very nice in summer - there are walks that start from the cottage, and easy access to many more. Chatel was a 15 minute walk uphill, or a bus ride (if you are organized), but there is a bakery just a very short walk away (2 mins).
We loved the apartment - the owner has a local agent who was fantastically friendly (and English, if you are a poor French speaker).
The ONLY negative I would mention is that if you are very tall you might find the sloping ceilings a bit irritating. The other aspect that was not clear to me before we stayed is that the bunk beds do not have a separate bedroom - guests will go past these on their way to the 2 other bedrooms.
