“Nice dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2013

At the recommendation of our hotel, a friend and I ate dinner at Le Renard after skiing one evening. We chose the 3 course meal, and weren't disappointed - both the food (salad, fish, cheese, raspberry tart) and wine were very good. Every table was full, and the place isn't all that big, so I'd recommend making a reservation. Would return again.

We stayed over New Year 2011-12. Rooms are simple, but adequate. As a dining experience, this place was just amazing. Highly recommended. Lovely hosts, gteat value for money.

“The Fox - cunning to be open in July & serving great food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2012 via mobile

Typical alpine interior - with the added addition of a namesake - the most beautiful fox (stuffed!). Very tasty Savoyarde cuisine and some dishes with a more Eurpoean influence. The 24 € menu was outstanding value with choices of 3 starters and 3 mains, followed by local cheese or fromage frais then ice cream or sorbet to finish. Sometimes one feels the dishes on a set menu are the poor relative of the A la Carte - but definitely not so here. We opted for the 24€ menu. The Savoyarde salad was more than ample with delicious salad leaves, cheeses and meats, nicely presented. To follow the pork rib with pesto and seasonal veg was tasty, the meat was succulent on a bed of al dente veg. English is spoken (fluent) which isn't always the case in this area. We'll visit again before our holiday ends.

“Atmospheric restaurant with good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2012 via mobile

This hotel / restaurant is just outside Chatel. The restaurant decor is nice - lots of old pine with a stuffed fox surveying the diners; apart from him there are no Savoyard Nic-knacks. We enjoyed friendly and attentive service and the menu of the day was excellent. The food was plentiful and tasty and €24 per person. We thought it good value.
The food, the atmosphere, the quality and value men we will be back.
NOTE Chatel in early July is still only half open. Lots of the restaurants - at least 70% - are closed either for the entire summer or until later in the month. Reynard was one of the few that was open.
