Hotel Macchi is a small but smart hotel and, apart from going skiing, there is no need to leave. The bar and restaurant is lovely and staff are very helpful. I recomend this hotel for a ski break, the shuttle bus to any lift is a real luxury.

Spent a ski-weekend in Portes du Soleil ski area and stayed at the Macchi for two nights. It's a rather traditional hotel yet very cozy. The staff was very nice, starting at the reception, the bar but also the driver of the shuttle bus. Great service as they drive you to the ski stations in Chatel in the morning and also pick you up again on demand after skiing. We did not check out the spa area due to intensive skiing. The receptionist even offered for us to take a shower at the hotel after skiing on the check-out day.

We've just returned home, from the most wonderful week, staying at this family run hotel, which is situated in the heart of Chatel, in the French Alps.
Ideally situated for all amenities on offer, close to an array of ski areas and perfect for shopping, restaurants and sight seeing.
The hotel is family owned and run, with the friendliest staff we've ever experienced - A wonderful change from the norm. The restaurant serves high-quality, fresh and locally sourced food, the wine cellar is exceedingly well stocked, as is the bar. Rooms are traditionally decorated, with those 'little touches' of thought and kindness. Very comfortable beds, quality linen and warm.
The hotel boasts a spa, indoor pool, sauna and steam room, together with ski equipment hire at favourable rates. Not forgetting the free bus service to the chair lifts!!

Highly recommended!! Well done Hotel Macchi, we'll be back!

Room Tip: No preference- all rooms are of the same standing

An amazing stay with fantastic service through out. The hotel is family owned and run and it shows in the care and attention that is placed in everything that is done from the food, to the ski shop, spa, the shuttle bus and the hot chocolate choices!!
Definitely recommend this wonderful hotel. We will come again.

We stayed at Hotel Macchi for three nights in August. This is a four star hotel which ticks the four star boxes if you want to use the spa and pool but there are some four star benefits which in my opinion are missing. The room was extremely hot with no air conditioning and there was no tea/coffee making facilities available. The toilet was extremely dark (as was a lot of the hotel corridors). There was no staff available after about 10.00pm so guests had to enter via the basement with a key. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was of good quality although I always feel 16E for a continental breakfast is a bit steep.

Room Tip: Choose a Classique room they are bigger. Hotel says for 4 I say for 2!
