Enjoyable hike through the former ochre quarries - even on a warm summer day. We did the 2.5 euro tour since did not plan on going to the Ochre Conservatory. A reasonably well curated tour with interpretive signage explaining the history and uses of ochre. About a 45 to 60 minute hike on the longer circuit through a world of sculpted spires, cliffs and ridges.Appeared to have all the variant hues of ochre from brown to red orange to yellow. Also try to view the cliffs Mont Rouge and Rue de La Poste. Good photo ops from Rue de La Postre. Good photo ops of the village from the area just outside the entrance to Le Sentier.

This is a memorable attraction!!!

Walk the village. After all it is a beaux village

Parking could be an issue. We ended up in the parking lot north of town called St. Michel. It is a hike up a steep roadway just to get back into town.

We enjoyed walking through Roussillon itself as it is a very pretty village. My husband and two kids enjoyed the walk at Le Sentier des Ocres and the kids managed to come back a rather nice color!! The walk itself is not overly taxing but it does get hot. Parking can be a bit of a mission on busy days.

This is a very curious site. It seems to be out of place in the Provence. Very beautiful. The routes are well designed. We took the short course with two girls of 4 and 7 years and that wa sno problem. It town is very busy however. I took us about 30 minutes to find a free parking place. Take 10 minutes to look around the graveyard near the entrance of the Sentier des ocres. I loved to walk around the old graves.

Perhaps Le Sentier des Ocres is great because one wouldn't expect to find such sites in France.

Without a car, getting to Roussillon is no easy task, but once that's figured out, Roussillon is a lovely day trip, and the hike among the ocre adds to its appeal. The site is very cheap to get in (less than 2 euros I believe), and there are two options for hikes, a short and longer one. I suggest taking the longer hike as there are some pretty cool rock formations that you would miss on the shorter hike. Plus, the hike times that are displayed are exaggerated - if you are a healthy adult, you'll probably complete the hike in half the time.

I highly recommend visiting Le Sentier des Ocres while on your trip to Roussillon!

Roussillon is a charming town to walk through. Very nice art galleries and cafes and the Red Ocres looks like a mini Sadona, AZ. Would not make a special trip there, but if you are in Luberon it is a great day trip
