Hello,
We are a swedish family with one teenager son who spent 2 weeks on this beautiful island , Corsica, more beautiful then we've expected. We stayed at the Napoleon Bonaparte hotel in the pitoresque village Ile Rousse. It was quite romantic to live in such an old buildning (from 1830) and think about the persons who maybe stayded in your rooms or walked on the corridors...Anyway, it's a swedish managing so everything was...perfect:) The stuff very service minded, and nice all the time, helpfull and attentive. The food was absolutely high class,( we've travelled all over the world so I can see the difference ), breakfast both continental and english, dinner, only fresh vegetables, different kind of sallad and the meat, almost put on the dishes by the cooks , good desserts.
They should change the towels more often, only twice/week, too little for a 3 stars hotel!
We've hired a car for a few days and drove around the island which I can highely recemmended: St Florent, Bastia, Corte, Ajaccio, Porto, upp in the mountains, absolutely astonnening. We could'nt see the all island it's too big for only some days , but we'll come back!

Room Tip: Rooms are very high , over 3 m, so you have the sensation of old, big saloons, bathrooms was new ren...

Unfortunately we can not say much positive things about this hotel. We had spent lots of hours to choose the perfect family holiday for 2011. And Langley Travel seems to be a travel agent that would offer something out of the normal, and they did but not on the positive side.

When booking the holiday we were explained that it would be served a 3 course dinner that was inclusive of the package. As we appreciate food highly we went for this thinking it would be something special and not standard buffet food.

When we arrived we discovered that it was a buffet with 3 courses, but still a buffet. The starter was always cold and left out in the warm dining room about 1, 5 hr before serving. There was always a pasta dish and then something else and a tiny dessert, really tiny. And some salads that almost everyday was the same and some cookies and fruit salat in the sweet corner. We even had frozen fish one day. We spoke to the Hotel Manager and explained to him that our expectations were not met in his hotel, but he just said that no one else complained and he had the best Chef de Cuisine in Langley so the problem was not in his court as well as telling us about the high food cost on the island. He was just”very sorry” that we were not satisfied

Every evening we had to be seated by the Headwaiter and then to be met by a waiter who asked us almost every day if we had any allergies!!!!! As it was a children menu every day with dessert (no one told us the first days, we found out later) we one day asked the Head Waiter about the menu and was told rudely that we had to check with our waiter!!!

Compared to dinner breakfast was OK, at least those days the bread was fresh and not re-heated. It would have been nice with fresh coffee instead of instant and it would have been nice with fruit that was not cut into hundred pieces. But it was OK.

The staff was OK, but they could never help if there was a problem. As the day the children should go horse riding and they”forgot” to tell us that it had been cancelled the day before. When we asked what we could do now, they could not help; they were only”very sorry”, as usual.

The positive areas in the hotel were the nice staff in the kids club and that we were located in the new section of the hotel and had nice rooms.

I would not travel with Langley Travels again, but visit Corsica for sure.

The hotel may look nice on the outside but it´s a huge disappointment when you get inside. The rooms are old and mouldy. Allergic people should avoid this hotel. The working conditions for the staff are the worst i´ve herd of as well whit a salary below 600€/m before tax whit allot of unpaid overtime.

I spent one of my best vacations on hotel Napoleon Bonaparte in may 2011. I was there with my family (husband and 2-years old child). It is extremely child friendly and I will recommend other families to go to this place. The new hotel is the best one.
Corsica, Ill rosse is fantastic in May, the weather couldn´t be better and the beaches was very good.

I joined a Danish group of 48 bridge players. It was the 7th year the organizer had tours to this hotel. It was an excellent stay and the hotel lived up to our expectations. Full of atmosphere, excellent dinners, good Scandinavian breakfast. An old hotel so the size of rooms differs, so reserve in good time if you want a big room with sea view.
Drawbacks: the reception is closed for a couple of hours in the afternoon. The serving at dinner was friendly but rather slow - but 48 came at the same time. We were there a week from Sept 18 in marvelours sunny weather.

I wish there was one positive thing about staying one week in this hotel, but sorry.

My husband an I had never been to Corse before and opted for a socalled 3 star hotell with halfboard. The travel agent called it gourmetkitchen, really it was like beeing feed at a soup kitchen. The food was sparse and we had watermelon in starters, maincourse and dessert. It seems to be a lack of ressourses .

Breakfast was as bad, no fresh bread, only a couple stale baguettes and a limtide variety of jams and a cheese. Juices from consentrat and not even fresh coffe. We have never experienced anything like this in France. During our stay several of the guest went out to the bakery and started buying croissants and fresh bread to supply the breakfast on offer.

Our double room, had a smelly wall to wall carpet, the smallest towel I haver ever seen, and only on chair in the room. Not to forget the worst matress ever. Rockhard.
Cleaning was Ok in the rooms, but absolutely not in the dining room or downstairs toilett. .

There is noe linen on the dinnertable, no napkins and no wine in glass or open wine. You cant reserve a table, and have to clear the table and dismantle the babaychairs before you sit down for dinner.

The staff is rude, unexperienced and only useful if you want something blonde, swedish and young to rest your eyes upon. The know nothing about what they put on your table, shows no interest i your comfort and gives the final shot to this awful hotel.

We feel in love with Corse, and will return to this lovely island with the gorgious beaches. But never to stay at this hotel or, Mediterranee, Orizonte that are beeing leased by the same hotelgroup called Langley Travel. No Way !

We stayed at hotel Napoléon Bonaparte for one week in early september 2008 and we simply loved it. The hotel is beautiful, and has probably seen better times, but it is all so well kept and the rooms are really nice and comfortable.

Something we really appriciated was the AC. You could choose three levels of effectivity (so you don´t get that icy feeling AC can give sometimes) and you could also choose temperature. The AC was also wery quiet. You didn´t even notice it.

The hotel´s location is in the center of the lovely little town Ille Rousse. You walk out of the hotelgates and step out to the Place Paoli, the absolute center of town, a beautiful square, where you find loads of cafés, restaurants, glacerias and bars. We sat under the platans and drank our cafés and cappuccinos every day. The coffée att Glaceria and Rhumeria was the best in town.

You walk across a parkinglot and find yourselves at the beautiful beach. White sand, turquoise water, so clear you can´t believe it.

The staff at the hotel couldn´t be friendlier or more helpful. You can ask them for anything and they will do their best to help you in every way. The staff is scaninavian but all speak french and english.

When you stay at Napoleon Bonaparte you get breakfastbuffet and a threecourse meal included every day and the food is absolutely amazing!!! You would never expect this kind of food at a hotell where meals are included. We enjoyed every single meal to the fullest.

Over all the food in Corsica is fantastic. You can really tell that they are proud of their cooking. Nothing is halfgood, everyting is perfectly cooked, and the local wines and beers are marvellous as well.

We really recommend this hotel, both to young and older couples and families with children. It suits everyone really. Enjoy your stay at Napoléon Bonaparte in Ille Rousse, Corsica. We surtainly did!
