We stayed for 3 nights in a well furnished, good sized, room with a small terrace overlooking the sea. The Jucuzzi bath in the large bedroom area was a nice feature although somewhat impractical if you just wanted a shower. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel has a contemporary bar/dining area overlooking the bay and breakfast here is a pleasure. The hotel is well located a short walk from the local sandy beach, with shopping in the town at your doorstep, along with a good many restaurants and bars. A few paces down the street you can find L'Escale's excellent companion restaurant serving up all the usual Corsican specialities. I'le Rousse is conveniently located for some great sightseeing along the surrounding coastline to Calvi and Porto as well as the high mountain areas inland. Good value, especially when we stayed, just outside the peak season. We will surely stay here again in the future.

Stayed at L'esacle cote sud during June 2012. The hotel room was modern and very clean. The location is perfect: Just by the beach, but at the same time right in the city. The hotel offers free wi-fi, which was great.

The breakfast was very good, however the manager of the hotel restaurant offered me some flat bread he guaranteed was gluten free, although its ingredients was mainly water and wheat (I have coeliac disease and get very sick if I eat wheat). If you have any food allergies I will advice you to be careful if you eat breakfast at the hotel restaurant since you obviously can't trust the hotel personal with your food allergies.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a balcony.

The hotel has a perfect location literally a stones throw away from the beach, and its right in the heart of the village where all the restaurants are. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room and thought it was excellent value for money, particularly given what we were paying for other accomodation on the island.

All the staff we encountered were very friendly, cheerful and helpful. The breakfast was nice and the view in the morning is really nice. I rarely go back to the same place twice but I woud definitely stay here again if I go back to L'Ile Rousse.

With the most beautiful location imaginable, this hotel was all we'd hoped. Delicious breakfast, friendly staff and super-modern, well-appointed rooms. Whilst we had an issue with the A/C, I never worry about problems, rather how they are dealt with, and the staff couldn't have worked harder to fix the problem - even upgrading us for our final night. Would recommend this hotel highly - it is a bit pricey, but THAT view is so worth it, and the rooms are really nice too (we were in the new annexe building).

Room Tip: If you can afford a sea view room - it is really, really worth it!

We recently went to France for our honeymoon and stayed in the suite for 6 nights.

It was like a modern condo with great design features (closets, bathroom with tons of thoughtful storage, bedside reading lights, K-cup coffee maker, double shower heads, wifi, etc). The view from the hottub was spectacular and spending a day reading in the lounge chairs was so relaxing. Staff was extremely pleasant and helpful.

Highly, highly recommended. If we ever go back to Corsica, I know where I'd want to stay!

Room Tip: Get the suite facing the water! I think there may be other suites with "town-facing" balco...

Firstly, there are three establishments in L'Ile Rousse called L'Escale, which isn't really clear from their website. One is a hotel with a few car spaces near the habour, and there is another hotel and a restaurant, both on Rue Notre Dame. The second hotel is called L'Escale Cote Sud. This has only a public (free) parking area about 100m away which had spaces available in April, but which might be a problem in high season. We had a 'superior sea side' room which was just about big enough but contained no chairs, There was a very small balcony which just accommodates two chairs and a small table, so these chairs could be moved inside if needed. The room was in good order, the bed was good quality and there was indeed a great sea view. There is free internet access. There are two such rooms on each of the first and second floors. The balconies are directly over a narrow but fairly noisy traffic route and are close to the main sea front promenade, making them quite public. These problems are worse on the first floor - the second floor rooms are less noisy and more private. The owner is often present and is very attentive and helpful. Some of his staff could do with a spell at charm school. The breakfast is good and is served in the attractive ground floor bar. The nearby L'Escale restaurant is excellent if expensive.

Following a three-hour drive drive we were greeted warmly and given our room card. The lowest-price rooms (two on each floor) are small, perhaps only three times as big as the double bed, but still impressive. We weren't expecting a balcony or a sea-view but - stretching definitions slightly - we had both.

This is two hotels in one: the west side faces a charming pedestrianised street lined with cafes and restaurants. That alone would make the hotel's location attractive but the other side is one minute from the white-sand beach. Ille-Rousse station is less than five minutes' walk and regular services make the 40-minute scenic journey to to Calvi and the many quiet beaches in between.

We loved the hotel bar which takes full advantage of the site. The sea-facing terrace has settees while the other side has tables in the street.

Reasons not to stay here? Very few. Too cool for some maybe? Well you'd have to be a real traditionalist to say that. Not grand or plush, but still smarter than many five-stars. No pool, but then this is a small town-centre hotel, it's well-priced and the sea is there for swimming. No car park but we left the car for free a few minutes' walk away.

With so much in the world we rarely decide to return to a hotel, however good. This will be an exception, but next time a larger room.
