“The finest home style cuisine of the Perigord, enjoyed in a familial atmosphere”
Reviewed October 20, 2012 via mobile

Part of the fun is trying to find this place. Way up a hill with barely paved roads, we were led to this place purely by Trip Advisor reviews. An easy 5-minute drive from Le Vieux Logis and the town of Tremolat, this is basically a restaurant set up in the home of a gracious family, whose matriarch serves as the chef, with the family doing everything they can to make this a special night. Casual and fun, a parade of courses starts with an extraordinary salad and is followed by all of the Perigord treats, from outdoor-grilled canard to foie gras to local wines and specialities. The food was absolutely top-notch. A fun, special, memorable evening!! Thank you, Trip Advisor!!

“A gem!”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

The restaurant and owner were magnificent. While staying at Le Vieuxx Logis the dining options are few. I recommend this home style restaurant over the stuffy Chefs Suggestion at the hotel.

“The Perigord Noir at its very best”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

It took a little while to find this delightful auberge-restaurant, situated in the wilds about 3km outside the beautiful little village of Trémolat on the D30, but when we arrived we were welcomed like close family friends by the owner and chef, and enjoyed a simply incredible meal.

It was a set six course menu, of food and wine produced almost exclusively on the premises, and began with a refreshing pear aperitif. Delicious course, after course then followed, including a big tureen of Le Tourin, the local garlic soup; thick slices of foie gras with freshly baked bread, (our nine year old son enjoyed a large plate of ripe melon and tomatoes instead); stunning salad of duck géziers, with fresh mint, nasturtium flowers, borrage flowers, all clearly just picked fresh from the garden; succulent duck breast and sautéed potatoes; the freshest goat's cheese imaginable with pink peppercorns; and finally a simply stunning panna cotta with rich strawberry coulis. Each course came with a different wine to accompany it - delicious, and also, all included in the price.

The meal, served in what felt like a rambling farmyard kitchen, was like being part of a large and exuberant French family. The other diners - all local French families celebrating La Fête Nationale that evening - were friendly and lively, clearly thoroughly enjoying their evening chez Yanick.

Les Truffières is very special - a warm and relaxed atmosphere, superb value for money and the food is quite exceptional. One of the best possible way to sample the gastronomic delights of the Perigord Noir. Book now!

“Amazing meal where you feel like family”
Reviewed June 15, 2012

We wanted to celebrate our third year wedding anniversary in a very special way and asked the hosts of our guesthouse for a recommendation. We took their advice and made a reservation with Les Truffieres in Tremolat. What a fantastic dining experience. The chef and owner of the restaurant greeted us at the door and offered us an aperitif of a pear kir to enjoy on the terrace. Then the exciting tour of the Perigord region by plate started. We moved into the dining room which seats a maximum of 8 tables, so you do need to book in advance. From there the chef led us through six amazing courses showcasing the Perigord, the highlight was duck (of course) with generous servings of foie gras and duck breast, a course of local goat cheese from the neighbor’s farm (which we were also able to visit), all delicious traditional dishes of the region. These dishes were paired with local wines which made the meal even more enjoyable. We ended the meal with the best panna cotta that we’ve ever had served with strawberry wine soup. Indeed it was a meal to remember and the perfect way to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves food and the experience of enjoying it.
