“Fantastic, welcoming, clean hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2010

This was our second time at this hotel having skiied at Rauris 3 years running. The room was immaculately clean and spacious. If you're looking for a great location with ski bus stop right outside, excellent choice of well presented food and very friendly staff this is it. The hotel has a really relaxed feel and has high standards of facilities such as pool, bowling alley and lovely bar. The apres ski snack selection is so good ranging from soups to cakes and the atmosphere amongst the returning skiers was wonderful. Rauris has been a great place for us to learn to ski as it's so compact yet demanding enough for beginners/early to mid intermediates and we'll definitely be coming back to the resort and this hotel in particular.

I would like to echo the coments of family the from Dublin.

We tarvelled with Crystal Ski for our 1st ski holiday as a family. We chose the Rauriserhof as we wanted a nice hotel with good facilites as my wife didn't want to ski, but wanted somewhere nice to relax while we were on the slopes.

The facilites are excellent nice pool, sauna, steam rooms and spa area.
My two teenage children and I attened to Karl Maier ski school as begineers, and they were very good, some have rated them as best in Austria, very good instructors we spent a few days on nursery slopes and our instructor guides us on a few sellected blue runs.

Had a great time, would like to stay longer, hope to return in the future !

We just spent a week skiing in Rauris. We stayed in the Rauriserhof which is a lovely hotel. The rooms were great and the facilities are fantastic. There is a pool, jacuzzi and sauna facilities. There is a bowling alley and tennis courts. The kids had a great time. The food was great. Every night there is a kids buffet which is ideal for children of all ages. The food was superb for adults. The staff at the hotel are very friendly. There was no WiFi available, but there is a booth with computer access to the internet. We used the Karl Maier Ski School. They kept all English speakers together and the ski instructors spoke excellent English. Karl Maier also do equipment rental. There is bus stop right outside the hotel and a free bus service to the ski school every half hour. The morning bus can be very crowded but there are locker facilities at the ski school so you do not have to bring your skis on the bus. Both the equipment hire shops and the ski lift pass office are very busy on Sunday morning so it is worth trying to get your ski pass and equipment on the day you arrive. For the advanced skier who does not want to use the ski school skiing is quite limited. You will be able to ski the whole resort in one day. There are advanced classes in ski school, we were taken off-piste, powder and through trees and over moguls (perfect for my 14 year old son !!!!). Overall I would really advise Rauris as a good family resort and the Vacations is the best place to stay.

The Grant Family

this was our second stay at this hotel and resort. On both occassion the food and service were first class. Room was very clean and facilitys were excellent.

Staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us.

Took my daughter (22) with us this time who is a vegie. They could not do enough to accommodate her food wise. They always had alternatives for her and would make sure that every course was catered for.

The only down side to this hotel is the smoking in the lounge area, which was a bit overwhelming in the evening., but I do understand that Austria do not have the same rules as the UK with regards smoking.

The resort was great for beginner skiers and the ski school were also first class.

I would not hesitate to return to this hotel and am thinking of going there in the summer months for the walking.

A great week in a great resort.

Food:
The food was exceptional, 6 courses of A'la carte food every evening. The vegetarian selection was inventive and of a very good standard. the breakfast buffet was impressive and every food choice was catered for. Btn 1500-1700hrs there was afternoon tea, with soup, cakes, bread.
Drinks were not that expensive compared with other hotels and bars, although compared to UK prices there were pretty steep.

Accommodation:
We stayed in the annexe which was very clean, quiet, but a little dated. We looked out onto the chair lift and was woken a few times by the snow plough during the night. The Annexe is a very short walk away from the main new hotel complex. The annexe is where is all started back in the 1960s.

Activities:
There is a large bar area with open fire which is very cosy,it catches the afternoon sun and is a delight to sit in the shadow of the mountains and read a book. There is a very rickety but fun skittle alley which is only 1 Euro for 10mins play time. There is a table tennis table, tennis court, a whole range of saunas and steam rooms and lovely swimming pool and Gym. All of this free of charge. There are spa treatments at extra charge. On at least 4 days there is a lady that comes to the hotel and provides walking information and does guided walks. The activities board is updated daily and weekly with all activities in the hotel and the local area.

Other:
There is a free Laundry room with tumble dryer. There is free Internet access in reception

Staff:
The staff all spoke english and were more than helpful and friendly, you could not almost look up in the bar without a waiter being there to take your order. they were very attentive and provided a real family feel to the hotel.

My family and I are huge fans of Rauris and The Rauriserhof and have spent the last 3 Christmas holidays there. I am amazed at the high quality of the food and the great variety offered, I never got bored with it! The staff are friendly and efficient and make a bi g effort to look after their guests, especially the bar staff! We had a wonderful New Years Eve,the owners went to a huge effort to make it a truly memorable night! We hope to return to Rauris again and I would not think of staying anywhere else!
