The Grant Family

this was our second stay at this hotel and resort. On both occassion the food and service were first class. Room was very clean and facilitys were excellent.

Staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us.

Took my daughter (22) with us this time who is a vegie. They could not do enough to accommodate her food wise. They always had alternatives for her and would make sure that every course was catered for.

The only down side to this hotel is the smoking in the lounge area, which was a bit overwhelming in the evening., but I do understand that Austria do not have the same rules as the UK with regards smoking.

The resort was great for beginner skiers and the ski school were also first class.

I would not hesitate to return to this hotel and am thinking of going there in the summer months for the walking.

A great week in a great resort.

Food:
The food was exceptional, 6 courses of A'la carte food every evening. The vegetarian selection was inventive and of a very good standard. the breakfast buffet was impressive and every food choice was catered for. Btn 1500-1700hrs there was afternoon tea, with soup, cakes, bread.
Drinks were not that expensive compared with other hotels and bars, although compared to UK prices there were pretty steep.

Accommodation:
We stayed in the annexe which was very clean, quiet, but a little dated. We looked out onto the chair lift and was woken a few times by the snow plough during the night. The Annexe is a very short walk away from the main new hotel complex. The annexe is where is all started back in the 1960s.

Activities:
There is a large bar area with open fire which is very cosy,it catches the afternoon sun and is a delight to sit in the shadow of the mountains and read a book. There is a very rickety but fun skittle alley which is only 1 Euro for 10mins play time. There is a table tennis table, tennis court, a whole range of saunas and steam rooms and lovely swimming pool and Gym. All of this free of charge. There are spa treatments at extra charge. On at least 4 days there is a lady that comes to the hotel and provides walking information and does guided walks. The activities board is updated daily and weekly with all activities in the hotel and the local area.

Other:
There is a free Laundry room with tumble dryer. There is free Internet access in reception

Staff:
The staff all spoke english and were more than helpful and friendly, you could not almost look up in the bar without a waiter being there to take your order. they were very attentive and provided a real family feel to the hotel.

My family and I are huge fans of Rauris and The Rauriserhof and have spent the last 3 Christmas holidays there. I am amazed at the high quality of the food and the great variety offered, I never got bored with it! The staff are friendly and efficient and make a bi g effort to look after their guests, especially the bar staff! We had a wonderful New Years Eve,the owners went to a huge effort to make it a truly memorable night! We hope to return to Rauris again and I would not think of staying anywhere else!

We experienced the service that is expected from a 4 * hotel in Europe. I must say that after a few days I grew tired of the dinner menus. The breakfast was sufficient without being exceptional. We were bothered by the lack of cleanliness of some areas compared to others (the spa area was spotless at all times, whereas some cobwebs and dead flies could be seen elsewhere). Excellent room size, booked a studio room, shame the chairs on the balcony were in such a bad state.

Stayed at the Raurishof for a half board ski holiday in Feb 08, would recommend this hotel to anyone. Food was excellent for every meal, 3-5pm afternoon tea, homemade cakes, soup, pasta, meats. cheeses etc. but drinks are not included so you can run up a hefty bar bill! We found that between breakfast and afternoon tea we did not even need lunch on the slopes.
All the staff were very friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English. Facilities in the hotel were very good, swimming pool, bowling, gym, table tennis, indoor and outdoor tennis - take your own equipment. Bedrooms and bathrooms were of a good size for Austria and extremely clean, no fridge or tea making facilities though.

Ski bus stop literally outside and chairlift is in easy walking distance even in ski boots.

We loved Rauris, very unspoilt, however i think it is a beginner/cautious intermediate resort - we're only second time skiers and although plenty of slopes for this year probably need somewhere with a few more for next year.

  • Liked — Friendliness of staff and quality of food
  • Disliked — No tea making facilities in room
