this is a small local zoo....i feel sorry for most of the animals that live there. it seemed to me the plants had better care than the creatures behind the fences. i wanted to set them all free!

The number of different birds and animals was great but the quality of their cages was terrible for more than 50 %. Concrete floors for animals that normally live in the jungle??

It is not like a big city zoo, has a nice assortment of animals and birds. The frog exhibit is especially interesting.

The zoo needs more funds for maintenance. It's heavy on chickens and birds and not a lot of animals. You want to improve the conditions of the animals. It's worth seeing the Smithsonian building where they are doing research to save the frogs. Nice location and view of the mountains

First of all, let me start by saying that this is NOT your USA Metropolitan type of zoo. You need to understand that. Do not expect your food courts, restrooms areas, trams, etc. This is a private property with absolutely beautiful landscape. Its backdrop is a mountain range. Here you will see a small, but very varied zoo. Lots of birds and small animals. You will also see some that are only found in Panama. There is a center now to protect the famous Panama Golden Frog. This whole property is like walking through a forest......wait a minute. It IS walking through a forest. Very little manmade "Disney" fake structures. You can come in the morning and spend half a day here. Even if you do not have kids, it is well worth the visit. My daughters loved the chicken with "Bell Bottom" pants, yes they actually look like they have bell bottoms on. The richness of colors of the different birds species is amazing. So next time you are in El Valle, please go, you will not regret it. The road to get there is not that great, lots of holes and bumps. So drive carefully. Even if you are not staying in El Valle, but you are in Coronado, Punta Chame, Gorgona, Vistamar or Bijao go for the day.
