My friend and I stumbled upon Santa Teresa last week, and I wish we'd found the village earlier in the trip! After lunch, we decided we wanted to take surf lessons, so we started walking up and down the main road to check out a few different businesses. It was about 2:30, so most places we walked into wouldn't take us out that day, and all seemed to have pretty high prices. We remembered driving past Nalu and thinking it seemed legit, so we drove back down to check it out.
Ben was super nice and said that not only was it not a problem to go this late in the day, but that the tides were low and it was an ideal time. Even though it was last minute, he called a teacher on his roster and we were able to begin our lesson in about half an hour. It's $45 for the lesson and includes half a day board rental. Since it was later, Ben offered for us to come back the next day, but unfortunately we were leaving that morning for San Jose. The lesson also includes being able to borrow a rash guard (surf top), which thank goodness, as we hadn't really come preparing to surf! There is also a changing room in the shop, parking in front of the store, and we kept our valuables in the shop with Ben while we surfed.
The surf lesson itself was a lot of fun (although very hard!!), and definitely one of the highlights of my trip. I've never surfed before but plan to incorporate it into all of my seaside vacations now.
Overall, I highly recommend Nalu! As all of the other reviews on here seem to tell you as well, you are sure to have a fantastic experience.
