“Astonishingly beautiful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2014

Definitely the best beach i've seen on this trip, gorgeous long, seemengly endless strip of sand backed by jungle and palm trees. I found the best part to be the one of Santa Teresa itself because it was a bit cleaner and the sand softer.
A few steps away (just back ont he main road) there are plenty of restaurants and bars.

“BEAUTY HIDDEN IN THE JUNGLE”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2013

In the jungle of the Pacific peninsula of Costa Rica , there are several white beautiful beaches hidden. Playa Santa Teresa is one those beaches well hidden but a pleasure to walk every morning. It is clean, relaxing, and possess a beautiful sunset daily which attracts the entire community to gather and enjoy. The beach is mostly attractive to surfers but anyone can enjoy the waves and atmosphere surrounding this stretch of beach. There was only one bar I could spot at Santa Teresa however, it connects to beautiful Playa Carmen, where you can find a places to grab a drink and the main road to Mal Pais. The best parts about the beach are that it is free of charge/entrance fees, you can enjoy watching the surfers ride the waves and enjoy beautiful sunsets. The worst part is the journey to get here. It is a 6 hour journey from San Jose if you land there and there are only two buses daily (6am and 2pm) that take to San Jose. I only recommend this beach for young adventurous people that are looking to get away from everything. NOTE: Renting an ATV (i.e. Quad) is the best to travel around the terrain of the jungle, if you don't have your own 4WD SUV. ATV usually cost $50 per day.

“Beautiful, but not really a swimming beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2013

Disclaimer: I'm not a beach type, and I get easily bored after laying around for an hour.

That being said, the beach is beautiful and there's a lot to explore. It's more pebbles than sand, and I spent a lot of time sifting through the different colored pebbles. There's also some interesting driftwood and the trees come right up to the beach. One of the local boys climbed a palm tree and threw fruit down for us.
The water itself is not very swimmable as it has quite a bit of undertow and large jagged rocks hidden under the waves, but it is so beautiful and picturesque as to be almost unbelievable. I recommend visiting the catarata (waterfall) in Montezuma for some swimming adventures.

A stunning beach where you can relax and kick back.

Santa Teresa is a brilliant location, at the start of the summer season (December) it was picture perfect

The town has a wonderful array of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets

“beautiful beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 10, 2013

This area is amazing for surfing, swimming, hanging on the beach, and eating delicious food! the jungle runs right up to the beach and the beach is all sand, with just a bit of drift wood up high, no rocks!
