Just back form a 3 day stay and I can't recommend it highly enough. There is a laid back, chilled atmosphere that makes you feel at home. Eduardo and team are attentive and friendly. The breakfast is amazing and the views are breath taking. The rooms are well thought out and I love the minimalist approach which is chic but comfortable. Thanks for an amazing stay and I would recommend this place if you are staying in ST.

I checked out of Akwa today and am terribly displeased with the service for the price it charges. For 250 usd at night at least, they could have apologized when there was no electricity or water supply to my room. I reached the room one night at 2 am only to find in the shower with soap on my face that there was no electricity or hot water available and this was the case until check out the next morning and the owner had the nerve to say that since he was not responsible for the power cut, there was no need to apologize. He also said nobody washes their face at 2 am. Mind you, this is a tourist “resort”.

Further, there was a swarm of ants in the room eating a dead praying mantis and the owner also concluded that since the “resort” was in greenery, this was typical.

One more thing, there is no way to contact the host/ owner for anything at all because there is no telephone in the room. For instance, when the swarm of ants appeared and I mean speckled, big black ants all over the floor covering half the room at night, there was no way to contact housekeeping to come assist us in getting rid of the ants that actually bit us.

Neither was there any way to call anyone when the electricity AND water disappeared for 8 hours in the middle of the night.

Needless to say, because of the power cut, wow, breakfast that we paid for was also not served the next morning.

He also did not refill any tolietries after giving a miserable tiny bottle of shampoo and conditioner combined with one tiny bar of soap for the 4 days that we were due to stay.

Given their arrogant unscrupulous attitude towards guests, id say stay at your own risk.

No apologies offered, no refunds and no discounts either.

To top it off, the guests next door offered their room since they paid an extra night but what do you know, Shylock here decided to sell his room although we conveyed to him that there was an arrangement between the guest and us for the next night. He also told us that if we wanted to stay, we had to pay an extra night for the day after. This is considering that from the booking that spanned 22nd-26 december, we left the room for one night from the 24th to stay at another hotel and when I asked for options about a refund for a night, he said since you paid for it already, you can do anything with your room.

Isn’t it a wonder that he was however able to sell someone else’s room that they had already prepaid for and capitalize on selling it again?

Be very careful if you want to stay here.

Terrible service, lackluster attitude reeking of odiousness and witless shortsighted behavior to running a small establishment (akin to buying a house and renting out its rooms).

Overpriced rooms for unbelievable below par service.

You can pay to stay here if you like to be mistreated.

The 5-star reviews look disingenuous as the owner speaks French and all of the reviews are by French people.

How odd.
