I stayed here with my husband and 2 kids, ages 3 and 5. We had a great time! Centrally located. Can walk to stores, restaurants and beach. The owners are on site and extremely gracious and met all of our needs. They also had a full time staff to help us. Place was clean with a shared kitchen and laundry service. Pics on their website are accurate. We spent most of our time alternating between the pool, beach and eating - what a life! Pura Vida!!

This is a fine place, perfect for mid-level budget travelers that want to be at one of the best strips of beach during the day and have a good night's sleep whenever it may be time to call it quits. Atrapasueños is right between Tropico Latino and Luz de Vida, two older, well-known hotels. Like those establishments, It is on the "beach-side" of the road, which I consider to be an advantage (the main road is usually either dusty or muddy, depending on the season), and the beach access is perfect. A short walk will get you to most of the night spots.

Unlike many hotels in this price-range, Atrapasueños shows that the owners have payed attention to functional AND aesthetic detail. There is air-conditioning, although the surrounding heavy foliage and the insulated metallic roofing truly make it optional, especially at night. We used the fan.

The B+B is versatile in the sense that it can be "converted" if a large family wants to rent more than just a room or two.

I have been living near the CR capital for 7 years and I have been visiting this particular area for double that time. I can tell readers that there are dozens hotels between the southern tip of Malpais and Playa Hermosa to the north. Of my favorite 5 properties, this is the least expensive. So I tip my hat to Margot and Juan, who have built a good, new hotel, where I will surely be staying again.

I was traveling with my 3 girlfriends and had reservations at another hotel. We didn't like what we saw at our original hotel and went looking for better accommodations. Lucky for us Atrapasuenos had a room available. This is a fairly new B&B and has not been in business very long. Margot was so kind and helpful. We had a huge, beautiful, clean room upstairs with 2 king beds and a balcony. I slept like a baby at night. The room had air conditioning and a large bathroom. In the morning my girlfriend would make coffee in our room and she would sit on the balcony and watch the monkeys in the trees. I would grab a cup of coffee and take my morning walk down the long white beach. The beach is only a 3 minute walk behind the property. It was a great start to the day watching the fishermen standing in the surf throwing out their line to catch fresh fish and see the surfers catch waves as the off shore breeze blows mist off the back of the waves. After my walk we would all gather at the tables by the pool for the complementary breakfast consisting of coffee, juice and fresh fruit. For a few extra dollars you could also have eggs and toast or if you wanted to make something yourself, the kitchen was available to use.
After a day of adventure or sunning at the beach we would cool off with a swim in the pool usually accompanied with a cocktail of some kind. There was a small market across the street and several good restaurants within the block.
I was so pleased with our stay that I inquired about renting the entire B&B for a family reunion next year. This would be a excellent choice for a family that surfs or a romantic getaway for a couple. Hats off the Margot and her staff. I'll be back to visit soon.

I was traveling with three girlfriends through Costa Rica. We had reservations initially at Zula Inn, down the street from Atrapasuenos. We were shown to our room and immediately checked out and refused to stay at Zula Inn. We went in search of acceptable accommodations and stumbled upon this amazing little B & B with amazing owners.

The accommodations were unbelievable. Very spacious bedroom, super clean and with a balcony displaying swinging monkeys each morning. There are places to lounge on the outside patio, a hammock hanging between two beautiful trees in the grassy area with banana plants hanging around you.

They have a relaxing pool and jacuzzi surrounded with privacy. Just when you think this place couldn't get any better, it is a very short walk to a beautiful beach.

It is located near just about everything you need.

Margot and her husband were so accommodating when we arrived and showed us around the entire place. They offer an amazing, filling breakfast each morning with delicious eggs, fresh cut fruit, juice, coffe and toast.

It felt like staying at your favorite aunt's house. It has such a warm, fuzzy feeling. I would recommend this charming home-away-from-home place to all.

Although there was not a restaurant at this location, you are invited to use their kitchen to cook you own meals if you choose.

My husband and I stumbled along this hotel/lodge and were so happy that they had a room free. Its a big house with 6 rooms, two kitchens, a pool and a garden - a hotel but more like a comfortable home away from home.

Our room was on the ground floor, with access to the garden and our very own hammock and private outdoor space. The bed was a huge highlight - we slept very well on the quality linens and super comfy mattress. Also, we totally appreciated the safe in the room as well as large tiled bathroom with great water pressure.

A plus for us was the kitchen, as we don't like to eat every meal out. Large enough to share with the other guests, and had all the things we needed.

Another really great thing is the location of this lodge. A three minute walk to the beach, a supermarket across the street, and restaurants all sprawled up and down the main street - we walked everywhere.

Congratulations to Margot and her husband for creating such an oasis of calm amidst the bustle of Playa Carmen. "Dreamcatcher" as it is called has a wonderful homely feel to it - each bedroom has its own particular style and is equipped with private bathroom and a/c. Margot is super charming and very accommodating she also helps with everything from Spanish / surf lessons to tours and restaurant suggestions. Atrapasuenos is located in the center of Playa del Carmen - you are in walking distance from the supermarket, the excellent new Italian on the corner, the beach and even the trendy D & N bar!! The dusty roads in Malpais tend to get to one after a while though......
