I've stayed at Casa MarBella four years in a row now and this was the first time we walked up the short path to Brisas. I can't even explain why we hadn't before but I'm glad we finally did.

We ended up going twice. Once for pizza night on Friday and then once again for the regular menu. My entire family enjoyed the grilled pizza and we hung around until we were stuffed and had to waddle down the hill. I think this would be a weekly event for us if we lived in ST. The regular menu is spot on as well. I highly recommend the seafood tapas and the calamari tacos. For dinner I had the crispy tuna which was a real treat.

This whole place has a really cool vibe with a great deck, some very laid back tables with couches, a funky bar and good music. I also thought the prices were very reasonable for the food served.

One thing I did notice, it did not appear that they had included the 10% service charge on the bill that is customary in most CR restaurants. So tip accordingly.

The view of the restaurant is great and the food is not bad. It could be a perfect night except what happened at payment. The waiter is dishonest. We paid by cash and left 72 dollars for the meal. We did not pay attention and left without counting the cash in front of him. The waiter took the money away and then called us, telling us that we only left 52 dollars, a 20 dollar is missing. All four of us have counted the money and we are sure that we left 72. Since there is nothing that we can prove, we have to give him another 20 dollars. This incident spoiled the night and the restaurant. Do pay attention if you pay by cash.

I recommend coming to Brisas del Mar with plans to stay for awhile - come for sunset drinks and a leisurely dinner, maybe with dessert or more drinks at the end!

They have an exceptional sunset vista, get a seat on the deck for the best view. Happy Hour is from 5-6 with two cocktails for 5,000 colones (usual one for 4,000), a good deal. The whole place is open air, the "inside" seats have a cool vibe with lots of great wood furniture and cozy benches filled with pillows and cushions.

The owner/chef came out to greet us and chat both nights and was so hospitable!

We were surprised by the portions as past reviewers had commented on small portions, we did NOT find this to be the case. The restaurant changed owners 8 months ago, so he may be adjusting based on feedback. Each night we had more than enough food, and were almost too full to finish (see below for what we ate).

First night: appetizer and two mains
1. Mini burger duo - a highlight of the menu! Absolutely get this if you go.
2. Seafood rice - so much food! Excellent sauce/spice and fresh seafood. Our #2 rec here.
3. Crispy tuna - solid, not a standout.

Second night: heavy finger foods and dessert
1. Mini burger duo - again, we told you it was a must have!
2. Tapas for two - fish sticks, fried calamari, fried shrimps, thick cut fried potatoes (the potatoes are so good!)
3. Oreo sundae - never disappoints

A final note - it is more expensive than most places in Santa Teresa, we found, but we also did not find it unreasonable at all, especially given the large portions we encountered. We come from New York City, so it's possible individuals from less expensive cities will find the prices less palatable. Note there is a 5% charge for credit cards (only a few dollars, again, we found it reasonable and not uncommon in the area).

We enjoyed seared tuna and a red snapper while looking out over the ocean. Great service and excellent fresh seafood.

We stayed at the Buenos Aires hotel and it was fabulous. We had breakfast their every day. It was adequate. The service was very, very slow. For dinner, it was good, but it was too expensive and again slow. The view and the architecture were great. The happy hour drinks were extremely weak. We found better restaurants. We were told as hotel guests that we would get 10% at the restaurant. We didn't, and the reason given it had to be in cash. That's alot of colones!
