We recently visited Costa Rica, traveling through out the entire country. Over the course of our travels, El Name was hands down the best restaurant we went to. It's a hidden gem, off the main road running through Santa Teresa, but it's worth seeking out. The food was fresh, the service was great, and the menu was exquisite! The owner and chef really poured their hearts into the food/menu. We tried every dish on the menu and every one was equally delicious. We'd come back to Costa Rica just to eat at this restaurant again!

We got there out of luck and we where so so lucky. Food is incredibly refined and delicious. Kudos for the chef. The place feels very modern and intimate, and that night had a live dj set that really boosted the atmosphere. The very-friendly-staff guided us through the whole experience. Best place we tried in Santa Teresa.

If you looking for a place we’re the know how to make the best food. This is the place. The taste is magically. The price and setting is really good. But the food is Michelan worthy. You don’t want to miss this.

We dined at El Name as a family of four (children ages 14 & 10). It was tapas night; as a result, we were able try myriad dishes at a reasonable price. We loved everything, e.g., the croquettes, gazpacho, burrata salad, octopus, chicken, beef, ceviche, fresh bread, among other dishes. The flavors were intriguing and it’s obvious the chef uses quality ingredients. Oh —and how the caphirinia and michelada drinks were huge & delish! Last but not least, the passion fruit cream dessert and brownie (like a rich flourless chocolate cake) were delightful. Service was prompt and friendly, even though the quaint restaurant was quite full of guests. Thank you for a wonderful meal. Pura vida.

While our taxi driver had a little trouble finding the place, we were very happy that we finally located El Name. We had an absolutely delicious dinner from start to finish. By the time we left we were already raving about the food. I don't write that many reviews but this place deserves attention. We spoke with the owner, a young couple from Barcelona who had a successful restaurant in Ibiza. The husband cooks and the wife runs the front of the house. We had the fresh snapper, which was more than enough for two of us, grilled lettuce salad, gazpacho, and chocolate brownie for desert, along with a nice bottle of Tempranillo wine. The total came to $77, which okay was a little more than you typically pay in ST, but this was truly an exceptional meal, really memorable. Everything was creatively prepared and every bite delicious--and the portions were plenty big enough. In fact the owner warned us not to get too much food. The setting is lovely, too--up a hill away from the dusty main road. They have two seating areas: one in a wooden jungle type structure and the other on a patio under hanging lights in a garden. As I write this, they have only been open for 3 1/2 months, but if you are looking for a really extraordinary, delicious meal, do yourself a favor and give this place a try.
