You can't go wrong with this trip... We booked the "Aqua Combo Tour" for 30 people to be a great conclusion to a week long mission trip in Costa Rica. This trip was... In a word... FANTASTIC. Carlos (the son of the owner) was captain of the boat on our trip, and took awesome care of us... they were ready to go when we arrived at the beach, and we had a fantastic day of boating, snorkeling, and exploring the Playa Huevos cove... topped off with a fantastic bbq lunch cooked on the beach at Playa Huevos... a lunch which included fish we had just caught. I honestly believe that this trip will be considered by the entire group as one of the highlights of their time in Costa Rica. It most certainly was for me.

Terrible tour agency. They cancel your tour at the time to go onboard. Not because of bad weather, simply because they cannot plan really a tour. Which should be their expertise. In addittion I'll have to wait 3 days to see if I'll get my money back.
In summary, this agency should not be operating.

There was a Charlie's tour office at our resort (Allegro Papagayo) and we found the service there very good. Helpful, informative and not pushy at all. The prices are also really quite reasonable. We booked and went on a boat trip across the bay to Coco Beach. I don't remember his name, but our guide was fabulous and worked so very hard. We all felt really bad for him as he was doing a two-person job by himself. He had to maneuver the bigger boat we were all in, as well as a smaller boat that didn't even have a motor that picked you up from the beach and brought you to the bigger boat. At the same time he was trying to help us all into the boats while keeping them steady. And when we came back after a few hours at Coco Beach, the sun was setting and we realized there wasn't even a light on the boat and so we travelled in the dark for a while. The stars were beautiful but you couldn't help but wonder about the safety issues. And then the poor guide had to go all the way back to Coco Beach (over an hour away) in the dark by himself. So while we had a good time, all of us on the boat felt bad for our guide and wished he would have a helper as it is clearly a two-person job.

We used Charlie's Adventures for a snorkeling trip while staying in the Gulf of Papagayo. We were staying at the Andaz and were picked up right at our hotel beach. The boat arrived right on time. It is a full day of boating and snorkeling and lunch. Our guide, Bruno, was great. The trip to the bay for snorkeling was a bit slow but it was a beautiful day on the water. The snorkeling spot was a bit rough but Bruno made it all amazing, diving for fish and star fish and bringing them to the surface. The beach location was great for swimming and the caves were amazing to explore. We headed for bottom fishing which was really fun and we caught fish for lunch. You are treated to an abundance of tropical fruit. I am still dreaming about the pineapple. Lunch on the beach was actually very good and the staff so friendly. Overall this was a great experience for families or couples. We have done of number of snorkeling tours on vacation and this was as fun as any despite the fact that the snorkeling itself happened not to be great on the day we went.
