“Exceptional experience. Best of the best”

Bf surprised me by booking 2 nights here for the final leg of our trip in Costa Rica. I can't get over how beautiful and luxurious our stay was with the phenomenal service and exquisite surroundings. The views from the golf course and rooms were post-card worthy.

We were in a room on the 3rd floor with a great view of the ocean. The bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean and lovely. We chose to swim on the private beach opposite of Playa Blanca where there were plenty of lounge furniture and quick service. The scenery - breathtaking.

On to the food. The hotel has quite a few restaurants on the property and up the road which are pretty good but the room service food is quite horrible...I mean really terrible. However, the Papagayo restaurant was good for breakfast (you must try their empanadas) and the newly opened steakhouse offered a great dinner. Rides are available at any time

Take advantage of the activities they offer (some of which are included) such as kayaking and morning hikes or make a reservation with partnering tour companies.

Beautiful hotel with breathtaking scenery and superior service.

Exceptional!

We will be back.

This resort is exquisite. Nestled at the end of the peninsula and relatively small for a resort of its caliber. The staff is beyond compare providing anything you need and anticipating things that you might not. The concierge staff was very helpful, informative and friendly on setting up excursions, meals, transportation and the bell staff always had a smile when taking us back up to our suite (the walk was a bit steep!). The citrus-infused cold towels were always a wonderful respite from the heat. The iPad video check-in on the ride to the resort a very nice touch as we were whisked away to our canopy suite (an upgrade) upon arrival. I found the food to be exceptional at nearly every meal. My only complaint would be the lack of lower priced options for meals and snacks as you are essentially a captive population when on site. The natural beauty rivals Hawaii and is so much shorter of a journey! This is well worth the visit for couples needing a romantic getaway and looking to be pampered. Think foot massages, sunglass cleanings and cold Evian spritzes by the pool with a delighful frozen cocktail in hand. We had worried about feeling trapped at the resort as it is quite remote, but we found we didn't want to leave!

The wildlife is incredible as well. Be prepared for Capuchin and Howler monkeys on the beach, flocks of green parrots, iguanas sunning themselves by the paths and finding coatis asleep on your lanai when heading out for a morning coffee.

Room Tip: We were upgraded to a canopy suite on Calle de Jaguar which was exquisite. Be careful of the steep...

We came to the Four Seasons at Peninsula Papagayo as part of a group on business. Our expectations were high as we have really enjoyed other Four Seasons properties. We were not disappointed. We took a private FS car with cold towels, water, an Ipad and WiFi from the airport. On the way, we Skyped with the hotel and they asked us if we wanted anything in our room on arrival. Nice! My host, Jean Pierre Hansen was there to greet us upon our arrival. I had been working with him for months on all the arrangements for the group. We were welcomed with cold drinks and then taken by golf cart with our luggage to our room. Formal check-in was done later. The hotel has a spectacular location as can be seen by the photographs and is even better in person. Throughout our stay, Jean Pierre was at every event making sure we were introduced to the staff and that all details were taken care of. Things could not have gone smoother. The golf course is beautiful and at what I would consider a bargain of a price. All the restaurants were great and we enjoyed access to the Beach Club at Playa Prieta as well. There are three pools, two beaches, watersports and service on the sand. Whether you are coming on holiday or on business, I don't believe you could make a better choice in all of Costa Rica. I highly recommend Jean Pierre Hansen for your conference needs. My clients will be raving about this trip for sometime to come!

Room Tip: We enjoyed a One Bedroom Canopy Suite. The only minus may be that you have to be taken by golf cart...

As with the previous review, the property is beautiful, the staff exceptonal. We stayed in a Cielo Room on the fourth floor, it was nice, but really not the luxury that you expect from the Four Seasons. And the food at the resort, as previously reviewed, was "okay". Just Okay. Again, expectation from the Four Seasons, at Four Seasons prices, I should be saying that it was great, but it was not. We had a better meal at Marea at the Beach Club, and our best at Langosta Beach Club in Tamarindo.
The concierge staff, in particular Sara, was terrific in planning our week. She was absolutely lovely and helpful. Funny that a previous post mentioned "Ronald" from Swiss Tours. We also enjoyed our day long excursion with this exceptional young man.
We hadn't realized that this property was very much geared to families and children. There is an "adult only" pool, but the least desirable of the three. The children even had the pool toys in the hot tub, so not nice for two couples. We wish we would have known that this property was so focussed on children.
We were booked under American Express Platinum travel, which gave us a "fourth night free" offer, for which we had two applicable nights. They did not want to honour the offer on check out, and reluctantly honored one night after getting Amex on the phone.
It was unfortunately not a nice ending to our holiday. We've stayed at Four Seasons hotels many times, and I've never before written a review because it has always been 5 star without exception.

My wife, two teenage daughters and I just returned from spending Thanksgiving at one of the most beautiful resorts in the world, Four Seasons Papagayo. The natural beauty of the region makes it a draw for anyone who likes to drink in ocean views. Having coffee in the plunge pool in the morning, and a glass of Chardonnay gazing at the sunset in the evening, were two of the most pleasurable moments of every day.

The highlights of this property include not only the views, but the quality of the rooms and the simply exceptional staff. We stayed in a two bedroom private residence, well appointed with every amenity you might imagine needing. We found the staff to be the best we have experienced anywhere in the world. Not only were they universally helpful, they always had a smile on their faces. It's hard to single out any one person for praise, as every person we interacted with was wonderful. Part of this is clearly the Four Seasons training, but you also have to give credit to the natural persona of the Costa Rican people.

The beaches and water sports were a bit disappointing. Having come from Playa Grande, certainly the oceanside beach is poor in comparison, measured by the quality of the waves and the quality of the sand. If you like kayaking, there are plenty of options. With only two paddle boards available, there was generally a wait. Conditions didn't merit taking out a wind surfer and the Hobies we had hoped for were not in existence.

The tennis center is very nice. Getting fresh, cool towels every ten minutes was really appreciated in the hot sun. The golf course looked impressive, but not being a golfer I'll leave that review to others.

The highlight of our stay was a private dinner on the beach for Thanksgiving. Candle and torches outlined our table on the beach. We selected the Costa Rican family style dinner option and enjoyed every bite of fresh grouper and snapper served up by the Chef, among other local dishes. Pricey and priceless at the same time.

Room Tip: We stayed in 5122, a two or three bedroom private residence, depending on your needs. The views wer...

Four Season's was great. Their service and the property itself was in line with other Four Seasons we have stayed at.

Restuarants : You can't go wrong with any of the restuarants. Caracol opened (remodel) on our last night. Food was great. We really enjoyed Di Mare. The entire staff at Congo's was very, very friendly. They did a great job.

Note : I would recommend checking out the Prieta Beach Club for dinner.

Beaches and Pool : The pool service was great. A little slow but they made up for it with the little extra's. I would recommend a day at the Prieta Beach Club. Stay for the sunset.

Tours : The hotel recommends you use their providers only. We did. Swiss Tours did a very nices job. Swiss Tours and FS provided the river boat tour even though we did not have the 4 person minimum. Ronald was a great guide. I would not go with a non certified vendor. Pay the extra money. The small village across the bay is worth visiting (Coco beach). Tour of the golf course was very nice, as well.

Hotel Service : We were upgraded to the 5th floor. The hotel provided chocolate strawberry's and champaigne. Real nice touch. At every turn the staff knew our name. We really felt at home.

Negatives : The clothing selection was not very good at the gift shop. There were no tee shirts or pull overs with the Four Season's logo. Typically, FS, has really nice clothes to take home to family. The golf shop had a great selection, but much more formal.

Golf Course : Play it! Rod (head pro) was really nice. He went out of his way to make my wife and I feel very welcome. I can't say enough about him. The course was very nice. Nicer than Nevis and Nevis was awesome.

As you enter the grounds of Peninsula Papagayo, one is immediately taken with the grand vista, a a large stand of palm trees, multiple ponds, long, clean expanses of green, and incredible views of both the Pacific and the Bay as one drives toward the "front gate" further out on this extraordinary Peninsula. An incredible sculpture greets visitors as much as do the security guards and the real adventure has still not begun. Entering through these gates, now, one drives through the 18 hole, Arnold Palmer golf course which though not a difficult course, is unsurpassed for the views and abundance of wildlife. Still, having not gotten to the resort itself, we begin to unwind from our flight as we become occupied by the pleasureable journey to the end of the Peninsula. We've arrived, the buildings designed by a Costa Rican architect to reflect an intention to maintain a natural settting, are beautiful and the receiving personnel, a team of smiling helpers waiting with ice cold drinks, soothing chilled towels, and genuine greetings of welcome. Not bad, for a vacation resort. Others have already commented on the food, the four pools, the day trips... all are excellent, the weather fabulous, I'm ready to move in!

Room Tip: Families can take advantage of the Pacifico Suites, including a spacious kitchen, three bedrooms, 3...

“wow” - what a great description of the arrival experience. Thank you. The statues in front of the main entrance are by Jimenez Deredia. Incredible indeed. We feel lucky and blessed to be part of the Peninsula and the views are just breathtaknig. Famous local architect Ronald Zurcher, has done such an amazing job designing the different homes and buildings, blending them perfectly with nature. And if you want to live with us, there are still some opportunites to own, let us know next time you come to paradise. Pura Vida, Pascal!
