If you want to see Belize- see it through the eyes of Hamanasi. There's not going to be another experience to even compare it to I can guarantee it. Believe me when I say that you will not meet a more friendly or accommodating staff anywhere else. Hamanasi has the edge and style of a five star hotel with the comfort and hospitality of a southern bed and breakfast.

The list goes on. The tours they provide are endless. They make it simple and quaint. There is no feeling of overstuffed tourists in a bus or difficulty getting anywhere you want to go. Adventure seems to be Hamanasi's middle name. I went to the ATM caves, night walk in the cockscombs, monkey river, cave tubing... Truly some of the best experiences of my life. I have traveled all over the world and never had experiences so interesting or beautiful.

Lastly, get ready to be happy if you are vegetarian or vegan. I am vegan and could not go on enough about how impressed I was. I am talking fresh baked bread, soups, numerous appetizers daily, many dinner selections, homemade veggie burgers for lunch, desserts, breakfast cakes... ALL VEGAN. I planned on getting by with rice and beans for a week and left totally amazed. When I said hospitable, I was not joking. Hamanasi goes above and beyond to please their guests.

You will not be disappointed.

Wow, what a delightful resort in such a beautiful setting. My husband and I have traveled the world and I must say this resort is one of the tops in our favorite places to stay. The staff was warm and welcoming remembering our first name from the moment we checked in. The beach room we had was much larger than expected and very comfortable. The view from our porch was fantastic and the sound of the waves at night extremely relaxing.

The resort offers a great variety of activites for every level of interest including just lounging by the pool or on the beach with beverage service.

We had the continental breakfast each morning and the selection of foods offered was incredible. Everything from fresh fruit and juices to meats, cheeses, eggs and breads. We did not eat all meals at the restaurant but those that we had were supurb. The different menu each night was a refreshing change from the usual fare of most eating establishments.

We are already looking forward to our next trip to Belize and our vacation at the lovely Hamanasi Resort.

we were at hamanasi from the 10th to the 15th of august (2adults and our 2 sons). We stayed in a tree house (great except that you have no view) and enjoyed our stay.We did : the mayflower tour (great) and snorkling (fantastic ),the kanoing on the river (great but should be done very early in the morning because of the heat), the jungle tour at night..we have not seen any big wildlife but it was exciting..The food is great ,they are changing the menu everyday so that you have a new delicious meal .The beach is nice but not large.Don't expect a clear blue water in the front beach ,it is really warm but not transparent..You will get it when going to the coralreef and islands with the boat.We really did appreciate the swimmingpool coming back from the adventures. The service is friendly and efficient. They are really honest on the billing (we did experience it).It is a charming resort, clean and comfortable and you just don't want to leave..

The staff at this resort is the friendliest I have encountered at any hotel, and the food, especially at dinner, was consistently some of the best I have eaten. They were very accomodating of different dietary needs. The grounds and the rooms were much nicer than the pictures posted on their website.

  • Disliked — adventure tours offered might prove tame to serious travellers/athletes

A FEW Examples of Five-Star Service:

1. Our driver spotted an adult Red-Rump Tarantula crossing the road on our ride from Dangriga Airport to Hamanasi Resort. He stopped the van and waited for everyone to take out their cameras. When my boyfriend hadn't gotten a good shot yet and the tarantula was almost across the road and hidden by grass, our driver hopped out of the van and shoo'd the tarantula back onto the road. Brian got a great picture of it facing the camera!

2. Not only do they handle all of your luggage for you so that you don't have to lift a finger, but the boat crew for SCUBA excursions take care of all of your gear for you as well. Including attaching your BCD and regulator to the tanks before each dive.

3. Your bed is made twice in one day. Once in the morning after you wake up and then it is turned down for you while you are at dinner.

4. Two hours into our drive to the Mayan Ruins, a three hour trip one-way, a second Hamanasi van quickly pulled up behind us. We stopped and the driver from the other van carried over a huge container of juice for lunch that we had accidently left behind. By the way, we already had one container loaded...so this was extra juice. And gas was $12.50/gallon. Even if that was in BZE currency, it still equals $6.25/gal!

The resort was very private, especially the tree house rooms! No one to either side of, on top of, or below you and you can barely see the neighboring treehouses. A family staying in the beach houses asked us where the treehouses were even located!

The staff was delightful and did a good job of remembering who you were whenever you engaged in conversation.

Our trip could not have been any better!

  • Liked — The dinner menu changed every night. I loved being surprised.

We (husband, wife and 17 year old daughter) spent a week at Hamanasi in August 2008.
We had just received our SCUBA open water certification and did 4 dives, had an amazing tour/hike of a Mayan cave and a tour of Mayan ruins.
The staff was superb, food very good and the location is quiet and charming.
There were a lot of honeymooners so we were the unusual family but we were busy with our dives and jungle trips and were welcomed by all.
The beach isn't great for swimming at the hotel so taking a snorkel or scuba trip is required to take advantage of the clear ocean. The pool and hammocks were very nice.
We used bug spray and didn't have any problems with the bugs.

We did the 6 night/4 adventure package which included all meals and our 2 days of diving and 2 jungle trips.

If you are looking for a quiet vacation with the opportunity for lots of activities, a gracious staff and introduction to Belize culture, we HIGHLY recommend Hamanasi.

  • Liked — Location, staff, opportunities to dive and see the area on planned adventures
  • Disliked — Ocean by the hotel wasn't great for swimming.

We had such a good time on our honeymoon here. The staff is WONDERFUL and the activities are very memorable. You can do many inland tours or marine tours. They take divers and snorkelors out everyday and have very knowledgable guides.
We went on an inland tour everyday we were there, they were very flexible on what tours we went on and made accomadations if we wanted to go somewhere off it's "scheduled" day. We went to ATM (cave), did some snorkeling on the reef, hiked to the Mayflower waterfalls, visted the Mayan ruins, and did some kayaking in the ocean. They had a adventure kayaking on a river, but we didn't go.
We would go back in a heartbeat and actually wish we were still there.
If you are going to Belize, check this place out. We stayed in the treehouses and had a FANTASTIC time with everyone there.

THANK YOU SO MUCH HAMANASI for making our trip so great!
