Perhaps the best hotel service I have ever experienced. Staff gets to know you and remembers your name and likes and dislikes. We participated in multiple snorkel trips, bird watching, jaguar reserve ( you will not see a jaguar but that is OK), and trips to Mayan ruins. Guides and staff are warm, friendly and well informed. Excellent food. I ate local lobster every other day. Located near the poor town of Hopkins, this hotel displays high level of social and environmental consciousness that goes with their exceptional care of travelers. I have waited to send in this review because I had numerous sandfly bites at the end of our week, a problem not related to the hotel but just to my getting careless. The hotel provides information and even free sprays for mosquitos and sandflies. Remember that you are in tropics and follow their advice.

Room Tip: We stayed in both treehouse and beachfront rooms. Treehouse is larger and newer and more private, bu...

This hotel/resort sets the standard for others to follow. The service, accommodations, restaurant, and other facilities are top notch. The grounds and surroundings are beautiful and serene. And there is nothing forced or fake about the interest staff take in their guests. The many warm greetings and conversations just become another memorable part of the stay and the attitude is infectious. The place was booked and everyone seemed to be having the time of their lives. I know I was!

Room Tip: spend the money on a treehouse--you deserve it!

Our family (2 Adults and 2 kids (13 & 15) spent 5 days at Hamanasi last summer. We have traveled extensively throughout Mexico and Central America and Hamanasi remains our favorite resort. It is a 1st class micro resort. The accomodations are outstanding, from beds, to linens to amenities. The restaurant and food are outstanding as well. The pier and beach offer fantastic swimming and snorkeling. The dive aspect really makes this resort shine. From the moment you arrive, any personal equipment is whisked away and tagged for you. They take your measurements and fit you for any rental equipment. Each morning, you simple roll out of bed, graze a wonderful breakfast buffet and walk out to the pier and climb on your dive boat. Everything is there, clean and ready for you. The diving out of this area of Belize is generally superior to Ambergris. Likely due to the difference between a huge amount of dive traffic over the year and almost none at all. Every reef we visited was completely unspoiled and magnificent. My wife does not dive and she also absolutely LOVED the resort. Extremely warm and attentive service and she had her pick of activities each day including bird watching, Mayan temple exploration, wildlife preserve hike or snorkeling on the actual reefs. Our family could not recommend this resort any more!

Room Tip: We really enjoyed one of the larger tree houses, but that was the only room we stayed in.

I can only echo what else you'll read here. I'm actually kind of shocked that I didn't write a review sooner, as I actually traveled there more than a year ago. Transportation in late-model Toyota minivans was clean and timely. The grounds and treehouse were well groomed and immaculate. The staff were amazingly attentive to the point of addressing us all by name almost immediately.

We spent nine nights there, dividing our time between snorkeling and jungle tours. The dive guides were all great and the exotic fishes and coral and clear water all that could have been wished for. But it was the inland tours where Hamanasi really shone. The jungle hike we went on was not for the faint of heart, and the guides who took us into the sacred caves, the Mayan ruins, and up into the hills were all extremely knowledgable.

And did I mention the food? Dang...never had a bad meal. There's also a nice little bar were folks can congregate for happy hour and compare notes on the day's adventures. So much nicer than a place geared to laying around the pool (which you can also do) all day.

I'm comfortable writing this long after my trip (February 2012) and fibbing about my travel dates to TA because we sent some friends down there just a few months ago and they had a similarly great experience.

Room Tip: The tree houses are really nice and give a unique experience with a private outdoor hot tub, etc. No...

My (new) husband and I traveled to Hamanasi for our honeymoon late April - early May 2013. Once we arrived in Belize City, it was a breeze. We booked the honeymoon package so all air and ground transfers were pre-planned and smooth, and we had a smiling Hamanasi driver when we reached Dangriga.

As soon as we arrived at Hamanasi, we were greeted with a lemon-lime drink and a short orientation from Jo. We decided to have lunch since we arrived before our room was ready, but all of our luggage was carried to our room for us. After lunch we were able to get into our first room, the regular treehouse. It was simply amazing and had a lot of privacy for the newlyweds. On our second day we were transferring to a deluxe treehouse and the Hamanasi staff moved everything for us while we were out on an excursion in the jungle.

I could rave for a long time about this resort, but here are some highlights:
1. Accomodations - highly recommend the deluxe treehouse. It had lots of privacy, wrap around balcony and jacuzzi on the porch.
2. Food - the menu changed nightly so you were never bored with the food selection and offered things both my husband and I liked (I don't eat red meat and was fine). There was also a nightly happy hour that we took advantage of and you can even get the happy hour pricing by the pool.
3. Excursions - it was the perfect mix of relaxing by the beach/pool and going on excursions to see the country. From snorkeling to Mayan ruin tours to zip lining, we went on 6 excursions in 7 days and loved every one of them.
4. Atmosphere - this is a smaller resort so we got to know everyone else staying there, whether it was because we were on the same tours or we talked to them at dinner. Very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

We both highly recommend Hamanasi for any honeymooners and would love to go back!

Room Tip: Deluxe treehouse was worth the money - private and big.

Spent five nights at the Hamanasi Resort outside of Hopkins and couldn't have been more impressed. Stayed in a treehouse, room was clean, spacious, and comfortable with a capable air conditioning unit. Common areas were well-tended and beautiful, staff was courteous and friendly and very helpful without making you feel like a helpless tourist. Wonderful food, nice pool. Location is nice for riding a bicycle into Hopkins to explore. Took a golf cart down to Sittee Point. Snorkeling was top notch but slather on the sun screen. We burned even with multiple applications. Best to wear protective clothing if you are fair-complected. Did Mayflower Preserve waterfall hike, beautiful falls, hike is hot, humid and near vertical at places but with strategically placed ropes for pulling on if needed. The swim in the natural pool near the top was well worth the effort.
Rented 200cc dual-sport motorcycles in Hopkins (Emma at Alternate Adventures) and rode down past San Antonio to Santa Cruz. the southern highway is well-maintained but lots of construction around San Antonio. Traffic was light. The roads around Hopkins were the worst we encountered, recently graded and lots of jagged rock sticking up. Best to stand on the pegs for most of this. Great ride, though, and check out my review of Alternate Adventures. Did not get to do everything we wanted and will definitely return. The Resort seems to make a concentrated effort at being as environmentally and culturally sensitive as they can. All in all, a great resort!

My (new) husband and I went to Hamanasi last week for our honeymoon. As promised, all travel accommodations from Belize City were taken care of and in Dangriga there was a friendly, smiling face ready to take us to the resort. He talked proudly on the way down about the people and towns we were passing though, he told us about the history of the area, and he even carried our absurdly heavy bag on his back up to our treehouse.
We were greeted by name at the main house by Jo, who gave us a key and let us go tour our new living arrangements before we did all the sit down orientation stuff. The room was AMAZING! Clean, neat, room for storage, cute notes and presents. They have a whole book for your FAQ and curiosity, they have clean water for drinking, and all the bathroom products are eco-friendly.
Without getting to long winded, some our favorite highlights are:
-Friendly staff! They all learn your name and room number in less than 2 days.
-Clean! Room staff, restaurant staff, ground crew; all work hard and you never even see it!
-Eco-friendly! bath products are bulk, food is composted, garden on grounds, recycling
-Location! Hopkins is a bike ride, spas are a walk down the beach, and they have the best beaches for miles
- Excursions! we are an active couple so the waterfall hike and cave dive was right up our alley. Snorkeling and diving everyday. And you can not say enough about the staff who takes you. They share personal stories, answer all your questions, take care of any needs, and I didn't meet a single one that wasn't super funny :) Shout out to Pedro who came and checked on me the next day after I cut my foot
- Other couples! We made so many friends that we stayed in contact with to tag pictures and share stories with back in the states. Meal times become fun group events, and happy hour is a great way to meet the couples who just arrived.

On our way out, we hugged all the staff members and promised to see them soon. We would have stayed longer, but we needed to come home and make some money to fund the next trip down. But we have plans to see the other couples for a Hamanasi reunion soon! Highly recommend!

Room Tip: Treehouse! So private and perfect for couples!
