We loved the Coconut Row Guest House and the friendly, helpful proprietors: Damien and Nisha. We stayed in the two bedroom Sunrise Suite which was right on the beach with lovely ocean breezes to cool us off . It was a charming, comfy casita bright with sherbet colours and very clean. The kitchen and sitting room had ceiling fans and the two bedrooms had efficient and quiet A/C. The roof-top deck was great for ocean breezes and star gazing. The beach had soft sand, gentle waves and would be safe for small children. Nearby there were restaurants, a few rustic grocery stores, a fruit stand and Caitlyn's bakery. Hopkins itself is a very small and very rustic village but we felt perfectly safe. It is a bit off the beaten path (the rough road from the highway) but well worth a visit.

My friend and I stayed at Coconut Row for 2 weeks at the end of
May, right before the rainy season. Damien and Nisha were wonderful hosts. Their grounds keeper, Benny, was very friendly and helpful. Their housekeeper, Claudette, always made sure our guest house was clean and we were not lacking for anything.
Coconut Row itself is beautiful, with colorful houses and a grand view of the Carribean. Our front "lawn" was the beach. The interior was nicely decorated and each bedroom (2) had ACs. The house had a small kitchen /living area and a very nice bath. Also a deck and a roof-top area that was tiled. It had an amazing view of the ocean.
Damien helped arrange many of the excursions we took. We rented a car in Belize City when we landed so it was very convenient to go where we wanted when we wanted. Many of the excursions were nearby, such as cave tubing, zip line, waterfall rapelling, and night time jungle hike. All the tour guides were great. Other cities such as Dangriga, Placencia, Punta Gorda and San Ignacio are between a 1 -2 hr.(or so) drive. This is where renting a car comes in handy. It may seem like a lot of driving but the scenery and small towns you go through are worth it.
The best thing about Coconut Row was we were in the small town of Hopkins where we got to meet and love the Belizean people. Their way of living is certainly not we are accustomed to in the US but it is their way and they are all very happy and friendly.
I would certainly recommend Coconut Row to anyone who is thinking about traveling to Belize.

Our intention in heading to Belize was to get out and do every activity that we could squeeze in, while avoiding standing in a single line, anytime, anywhere....and with the exception of the airport, mission accomplished.

Damian from Coconut Row arranged our in-country flights from Belize City to 'griga and back, and our rides from 'griga to Hopkins and back. Actually, he helped arrange our car rental in Hopkins as well (yes, new rental shop is now operations. It's not a Hertz, by the way), and was very personable and available to us when we needed some advice. Super nice guy and a welcoming family that live on-site.

Coconut Row is an excellent home base for exploring Belize. Resort diving is down the road a couple miles (we dove with Hamanasi), Bocawina National Park is about 6 miles away (hike the Antelope Falls and hit the 10-platform zip line), cave tubing was about an hour away at Blue Hole National Park, Myan ruins were a couple hours away on a drive that rolls thru incredible scenery and thry the capital of Belmopan and then San Ignacio...and, our room was a stones throw from the ocean.

The room itself had 2 beds, little fridge, toaster, coffee pot/coffee, hot water, air conditioning, ceiling fan, we had a ocean facing porch with a table and chairs. We had new friends over several times for drinks on our porch..really easy to hang out looking out to the ocean, past a couple hammocks and beach chairs. We got some pretty serious rain a couple times at night but no problem to have a few drinks outside with friends under the roof.

Super satisfied with our experience with Coconut Row and our new friend Damian.

Coconut Row is a wonderful place to stay! It made Belize that much better of an experience for us! The owner of the guest house is super friendly, pleasant, and full of good advice. He books your taxis, flights, and adventure tours for you. Him, his wife, and everyone working there are great people who put their guests first. The buildings are painted in fantastic bright colours and are kept very clean. The location is also great. You are right in the village close to restaurants and grocery stores, but yet once you enter Coconut Row you're on a secluded beach. The beach is quiet, immaculate, has an amazing view, and is well set up with hammocks and comfortable beach chairs. There were times we sat on the beach all day and wouldn't see anyone. I recommend Coconut Row Guest House to anyone! It is a perfect getaway!

Room Tip: We recommend having a kitchen suite.

Coconut Row has an excellent location, right on the beach but within easy walking distance to several restaurants and grocery stores. Damian was a very nice and accommodating host. He is an agent of Tropic Air, and arranged our flight from Belize City to Dangriga, and taxi service from Dangriga to Hopkins. Make sure to ask Bendicto to cut down a drinking coconut for you.

Whatever your dreams for Belize are...this is the perfect setting for them to come true. Let me speak of the physical first. The landscaping is immaculate yet lush. Benedicto (I recommend getting to know him a little/a very amiable man) keeps the outside a trimmed vision by Paul Gaugin. The buildings fit so well by the Caribbean. A palapa roof tops off one main building with exquisite yellow walls, electric blue railings and other colors that speak of where you are. Columns that are decorated by hand-painted vines, and doors decorated with Mayan priests set off the verandas where you can sit in the shade by your room. Wonderful beach chairs and hammocks await you under the coconut palms at the water's edge. The tides in the Caribbean are slight, so you can lie in the shade of trees no more than ten feet from the water. We were there for four days in mid-May, the end of the high season. The heat was getting going pretty good inland. The cool breeze off the Caribbean was so stunning in it's comfort, I could barely lift a book. The surroundings just carried me away. The rooms were great. Very comfortable and unique. They also gave you a sense of place. Nisha fixed us a delicious, fresh breakfast served on our terrace. Claudette took care of the rooms. She was a delight. She also did some laundry for us. Damien was our Ricardo Montalban. He and Nisha have the answers. You dream up the questions. These are genuine people. They treat you with respect and as an individual. The Coconut Row guesthouse is an island where you can forget time. What's that worth to you?

Room Tip: The CocoCaribe rooms were a delight.

A friend and I stayed here in early April. Damien and Nisha were super friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable, really clean, nicely decorated, located right in front of the ocean. It was a great place to stay and we are glad we stumbled upon it as we wandered around with our backpacks. A little pricey for the backpacker set that we are, but it was so worth it!

Room Tip: There are only 3-4 rooms from what I can tell....you can't go wrong in any of them!
