We had a hearty welcome from Corrina the manager, she is such a welcoming person, and treats each guest as though they were her own family, a very caring and attentive, as is the rest of the staff at Jaguar Reef. Great hospitality.
The resort is wonderful, clean, well maintained, the rooms have a beautiful decor, spacious, and comfortable. A great sandy beach, one of the best in Belize, lots to do, kayaking, snorkling, right at the resort. Fine dining restaurant, I loved the uniforms of the kitchen staff, very carribean. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. They have a shuttle service to Hopkins town, we were picked up at the airport and the driver was a qualified guide so the ride to the resort was informative and like having a tour in itself. This is a family freindly resort with a wide variation in the age groups enjoyed by all.

Jaguar Reef was a wonderful place to spend a week in Belize. The staff, housekeepers to guides, were always friendly and eager to please. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The food was very good....nice variety, local ingredients (lots of seafood!), and something for everyone. The tours were well done and give a wonderful overview of this beautiful country. I suggest the adventure package, which includes all but your alcohol ( they have an add on for that too if you like). This was our third trip to Belize and was in comparison, a real bargain. Friends went with us. They had never been to a lodge like this before and they also had a wonderful time. if you are looking for a place to go that will give you a good feel for what Belize has to offer, I think this should be highly considered.

First, I can’t say enough about the staff at JRL. Everyone is so pleasant and helpful – from the front desk staff to the young man cutting and preparing coconuts for the Coco Locos. The rooms are large with lots of room – especially the bathroom which has plenty of space for spreading out. (Pet peeve of mine is hotel bathrooms with no place to put your stuff.) The grounds are beautifully maintained. We really enjoyed that the resorts are so close together and you can stroll up the beach from one to the other.

The food was excellent – fresh and well prepared. We had dinner here two nights. The menu is different everyday & is posted outside the office for the whole week. One night we had dinner at the Belizean Dream resort and it too was delightful. They served more local dishes and vegetables. We also took the 2 minute stroll up the beach to Chef Rob’s (closed Sunday) one night.

Also, I want to give kudos to Maya Air. We had less than hour between arriving in Belize City to our connecting flight to Dangriga and were a bit concerned about making the connection, but as soon as you leave the customs area there were the May Air & Tropic Air waiting for us with a sign to point you where to go next, and grab your luggage. We were whisked to counter checked in and were at the gate in no time. The gate staff was also very attentive & made sure we got on the right plane. The planes are in excellent condition & the 15 minuet flight to Dangriga was the highlight of our travel day.

The tours are handled very well. Sing up sheets at the desk. Our guides were great – Manuel, Charlton and Gabriel. We had a small mechanical problem with our van while going to the Cayo ruins and Manuel our guide immediately picked up the phone and arranged for another guide to meet us so he could go attend to the van. We didn't lose one minute of our day. BTW – lunch at Benny’s in San Ignacio was an added bonus for real Belizean food.

The village of Hopkins is a 15 minute walk up the beach. Buy your Maria Sharp’s hot sauce at the Chinese grocery in Hopkins and your gifts at the Kulcha Gift Shop – great selection of local crafts.

The front desk staff does a great job of coordinating local transfers and departing flights.

Travel note: If you are catching the 11:10 United flight from Belize City to Houston, the 9:20am Maya Air flight from Dangriga leaves plenty of time to check in etc. at BZE. No need for the 7:35am. Enjoy your last breakfast on the beach.

I know we will be back.

Although we did not stay at Jaguar Reef we did hook up for some fun tours and enjoy some wonderful meals there. The manager, Corrina Sawers, was so kind to us and always made sure that we would be transported to tour sites along with the people staying at the lodge. All the staff, waiters, front desk people, and manager, were very friendly, efficent, and kind. If we return to Belize and choose to stay at a resort we would definitely choose Jaguar Reef.

Best review we can give is that we are definitely going back. Belizeans very friendly. Fantastic staff. Gorgeouis setting. Good food, at the hotel and the other restaurants along the beach and in the town of Hopkins. Loved the oceanfront cabana, very pretty and comfortable, with veranda facing the perfect, palm treed beach. Sandflies do come out at times, as in all places in the Caribbean that have a beach, but were not a huge concern and bug spray was effective. One of us suffered a little accident but was well taken care of by the staff. Lots of activities and side trips. Great for families also.. Town of Hopkins very accessible (walking distance or by bike or golf cart). Not a party palace, thank goodness. If you love peace and quiet and unspoiled places, this is one of them! Kudos again to all of the wonderful staff. Tryly and unspoiled paradise.

We spent seven wonderful days at Jaguar Reef/Almond Beach Resort for our 40th wedding anniversary. We stayed in the Honeymoon suite that was beautiful and spacious. We had a private patio viewing the pool and Tika Bar looking straight out to the ocean. Inside our room an very comfortable king size bed, two large lounging chairs, small glass dining table and chairs, sunken bathtub. Their was a huge separate bathroom, double sink vanity, make up mirror, safe, coffee maker refridgerator, iron, clothing armior, and beautifully tiled walk in shower, toilet located in it's own room inside the bathroom. We felt totally pampered and comfortable. The staff are all so friendly and pleasant. The grounds are beautiful and kept up 24/7. The dining experiences from the high thatched ceiling and beautiful open views of the ocean in the dining room to the delicous meals at breakfast, lunch and dinner. We did use the coffee shop for the extra coffee lattes and snacks several times and the wi-fi. Enjoyed and afternoon massage and facial too. We used the resorts kayaks for an early morning exploration seeing, Manatee, pelicans, egrets, giant school of Skip Jacks, star fish. We also used the resorts bicycles to ride into Hopkins to see the village and it's people. The resort offers special side trips, we did the Barrier Reef Snorkel, fabulous. What an abundance of marine life. The Jungle Zipline amazing, the River Cave tubing and exploring even more exciting than imagined and the most special to us the Cayo Mayan Ruins, spectacular. Will be coming back again with family to share our experiences.

Room Tip: Honeymoon Suite even if your not Honeymooning!!!!!

My husband and I just got back from Jaguar Reef Lodge. We had a wonderful time and really didn't want to leave. The lodge staff was great. We did have a snorkeling tour that we had a problem with but the was completely taken care of before we left. We didn't eat there everyday we choose to go into town and spend money at little local cafe. The maintence guys at Jaguar are sooooo helpful we needed a hose and rags to wash rental car we got stuck. They totally went out of the way to help us. I would highly recommend Jaguar Reef Lodge as a place to go. The beach, housekeeping, maintence, breakfast and staff excellent. Anything they can do for you they will. Anyone reading this can e-mail me I will be happy to talk to you. The only thing I would change is the road to Hopkins is hell on the butt . It needs to be paved be careful if your driving. We used Sittee River Rd to get in Hopkins its not as bad few more miles down the road but worth it if you have back isssues like me.

Room Tip: The room was beautiful and cozy. We did find a couple of bugs but I swished them. Staff was told and...
