Lone Pine has all the attributes of a five-star hotel but because of flaws in certain aspects of their service it has yet to attain the status of an Excellent hotel. The staff were very friendly but you are never sure whether they were put on and not as genuine as it seems. We had a few unfortunate experiences like being twice disturbed by staff with the excuse that they got the wrong room...woken at 6.05am when we had just got over our jet lag and expecting to have a little lie-in. Waiting staff at the main eating outlet were not efficient and attentive. Perhaps they thought they were in the 'lepak' room where they could also chill out and not bother too much about guests.

The hotel itself is very nice. Rooms were excellent. Grounds and pools were very nice and maintained well.Food available was good. Free Wifi was dodgy but functional enough.

Room Tip: Must be sea facing. Expect water scooters to be a nuisance in the day.

The rooms and surrounding gives you the resort living feel! Upon registration, the receptionist didn't do a good job. I was given the wrong type of room, l king size bed instead of two twins as requested. I had to request for a room change. Next he called me to go down and sign the registration obviously I was furious !
The food quality was below average. During breakfast the service was not up to par, but when it comes to food quality it was even worse. I was served a burnt egg with so much soot that I returned to d chef!

Dear Chan ML,

Thank you for your positive comments as well as those that were not too favorable during your recent stay with us. Like many other reputable hospitality establishments, we always try do the right things for our guests, unfortunately in you case we seemed to fell short . For that please accept our humble apologies. We hope that we can get another opportunity to redeem ourselves as this is not the kind of service standards we usually provide as you can see from the other good reviews of our guests.

I stayed here for 2 nights before Hari Raya. The hotel was nicely decorated, and the rooms were quite spacious. I liked the tub on the balcony. There are also a few food courts nearby and there was a street market right in front of the hotel. The hotel restaurant was pretty good as well.

However, the noise was TERRIBLE! From one side you can hear all of the traffic from the tiny little town. On the other side you can hear jet skis and boats taking people out for parasailing. I wanted to sleep in and relax, but it wasn't possible. The beach is nothing special and didn't look like a great place to swim (too much traffic and big waves). The car park is not covered, so expect you car to be covered in tree sap and bird crap.

Dear Jinu,

It is with much appreciation to receive your review of your stay with us. Batu Feringgi is and has always been a popular tourist destination for Penang so I can't really offer you an excuse for the noise pollution you had to experience. The surroundings gets pretty busy especially during festive periods like Hari Raya when the tourists throng Batu Feringgi in great numbers. Well I hope that if you are planning to come for another visit again, it would be wise to come during the low season to avoid all this. As for the trees and plants surrounding Lone Pine, it was our desire to maintain them as we believe in the preservation of the green environment. However I have to agree that it does come with its consequences of leafs & bird droppings, ants, insects, etc. We have no reason to provide too many concrete structures at the grounds as it would have defeated our concept of creating a boutique beach resort style property.

Kind regards,
Khoo Boo Lim

It was so fascinating on my first step into the room! The hotel is a colonial building . All the room is sea-facing and can hear sea breezing ~ there is not much hotel room, give u privacy without the crowds. They have a big garden and nice sunset view! Try it when u r there!
