“Relaxing Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2012

This is a wonderful place to stay. All the staff are friendly. Ask and they do their best to accomodate. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the even have free wifi. The night market is on the front step, and the beach is at the back. Great location for a resort. Their buffet breakfast is excellent. I stayed in the deluxe room. My whole family had a great time. I would recommend it for a place to stay. They even organised a birthday cake for my son. Thank you very much,

Room Tip: If you have one child, choose their deluxe room. They have 2 queen size bed in the room. Ask for t...

Excellent in every way, staff were unbelievable friendly and efficient, room fanatstic, facilities in general top drawer.Location great for the beach and night markets. The place was mistakenly named after a pine as it was another type of tree but maybe the pine stands for the feeling that we had on leaving after having such a great time. Thanks to everyone especially Wee, Devi,Razlan,Ishmal all guided by Guido their manager.E pai ana.

Room Tip: level 2 or 3 rooms about 213 to 218 and same for 3rd floor to get good views

Lone Pine doesn't measure up to the elegance of neighbour Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang, or the vibrancy of Hard Rock Hotel down the road. But it has its own charm. Relatively lower density, simple basic (but clean) decor, and decent facilities (gym, pool).

Was disappointed that the promised free (nice) wifi had a weak signal. Very weak in the main coffee house/pool area, and couldn't get it in my room (end of the hall x23). Also, the 'jacuzzi' in the balcony is too small to be used meaningfully, and without a nice view from the balcony (see picture), its not worth it...

Staff are friendly, albeit young and inexperienced. Great that they employ local people from within the community.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms at the end of the hallway (e.g, x23). Couldn't get wifi signal, and as a 'de...

Dear Azran 1,

Sunshine Greetingd from Malaysia's Premier Boutique Beach Resort.

We would like to convey our appreciation for your constructive review on our property and services. It is very unfortunate that you have to encounter some difficulties connecting to our complimentary wi-fi services as we have been having some problems with the equipment we purchased. However, we are taking this to our vendor and they are trying their best to settle this issue for us as fast as they can. As for the jacuzzi you mentioned, it was a designed by our architects as a unique feature of the room and classified it as a plunge bath on the balcony. Again my apologies if you did not get a room at the higher floors as i'm sure that would have provided you with a better view. Well, we hope you can give us another opportuntiy to redeem ourselves so I do hope you will personally contact me so that I can make the necessary arrangements for you.

I wish you a pleasant year ahead and look forward to hear from you.

Kind regards.

this was one of those stays when despite there being a few niggles, one just feels so happy to be staying at the hotel, that the niggles count for naught..
Its probably easiest to address the niggles: there should be more television channels available; toiletries could be of higher quality (NB: nobody likes using a combined shampoo/conditioner!) (we found a stall selling Penang-made organic cold-pressed soap, including one made from nutmeg oil - nutmegs are SO Penang, so why not commission them?); restaurant service was well-meaning, but lacked refinement; oh yes - the DVD selection was miserable!
everything else was stunning! the tranquil ambience, the warmth of the service, splendid breakfast buffet (we loved toasting our bread on the charcoal brazier!), best ever OJ, rooms were decently-sized - I loved the cushioned "laptop lap board" which reminded me of my prep board at school!
The location is, of course, unbeatable and the beach is fine..I didnt really see any guests spending much time on the beach, and who can blame them when the hotel is such a comfortable haven
Its really difficult to place what is so appealling about the Lone Pine - there is no single element that wows you..its more that the combination of subtle touches truly wins you over

Dear WanderingGourm....,

Sunshine Greetings from Malaysia's Premier Boutique Beach Resort.

We are delighted to read from your review that you have enjoyed your stay with us and your appreciation on our services. We are glad that you like our breakfast spread and had a wonderful time "incinerating" your bread on our charcoal toaster!

Please accept our appreciation for highlighting those "niggles" as we value your constructive comments very much. We will definitely look into this and take the appropriate actions. In fact, I'm going on a shopping spree at my local DVD shop this weekend!

We wish to see you again soon at Lone Pine so please take care and wish you a pleasant year ahead.

Wow, what a wonderful week. Lone Pine is one of those brilliant places that you dream about but rarely find. With only 90 rooms it is just the right size to offer an excellent mix of services with a very personal feel. My wife and I were away to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and the staff went out of their way to make it a memorable week. We had wine on arrival, a beautifully made up room and a lovely cake. The hotel's amenities are first class with great rooms, fabulous eateries and bars and a lovely pool - all in a garden setting right on the beach. Thank you to Guido and all of the staff. We will certainly be recommending lone Pine to all of our friends.

Room Tip: Try to get a room above reception to get the best views of the ocean.

Despite being the only Boutique hotel in Batu Feringghi, the newly refurbished Lone Pine hotel has lived up to its standards, to a certain extent, I think they might have out performed their sister hotel at Farquhar Street. We had our son's full moon party at the Batu Bar when the new lone pine opened its doors, my wife had her birthday celebration there for two consecutive years and our experience has been excellent. From the sales team, to the front desk, the staff at the bungalow and Matsu, to the chef, to the banquet manager - they all have one thing in common - Warmth. They've got a team of client facing employees who genuinely greet and interact with you, with much humility and honesty, not the usual friendliness that's superficial. What amazes me is that even the chefs who make their rounds would come over our table and interact with us.

We've never hesitated hosting guests here at Lone Pine and we have not been disappointed. The only challenge ahead of them would be to ensure these values remain their core, even as new staff joins the hotel in the future.

Well done Lone Pine!

Unlike the other beach hotels which tend to be too overly crowded, this hotel is just perfect. It has only about 100 odd rooms and suites which are well designed and guess what, there is a plunge pool at the balcony over looking the sea. The staff are professional yet warm and friendly right from the time you call the reservation dept. to the time you take the taxi back to the airport. Would definitely return here and also recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Room Tip: the higher the better the view
