Lone Pine Hotel
Ranked #6 of 10 Hotels in Batu Ferringhi

This hotel is fairly new with a design based on the original, which apparently was the first hotel on this stretch. We were only here a weekend but were impressed with the size of the rooms. We had a standard room but it was huge and the bathroom was huge! It was light, airy with a very modern twist on the 'colonial' theme, which hotels often get completely wrong. The shower was great and all the little treats including free flip flops and free soft drinks in the mini bar were good, as was the breakfast. Our only gripe was that guests were allowed to reserve tables for breakfast, which meant that the best tables overlooking the beach were empty. Reserve for dinner, yes ok but breakfast? The beach was pretty good but the sea is a muddy colour here, however you'll probably want to sit round the pool which is pretty good. We had a look at the other big resorts on this beach and they looked a bit dated, so I'd recommend you stay here.

Dear WalkaboutSussex,

Sunshine Greetings from Malaysia's Premier Boutique Beach Resort.

We are very happy that you are satisfied with the hotel design and your appreciation on the small touches that we provide. However, please accept my apologies if we may given you a wrong impression during our breakfast time. It is not our policy to allow any reservation for breakfast as we operate on a first come, first serve basis. If I can recall the hotel was running very high occupancy and the crowd just came at the same time thus giving us a challenge as we did not have enough seatings to go around. During that time, we had our associates controlling the guests by requesting them to wait at the bar area whilst we prepared the turnover.

Anyway, we really do appreciate your good review and hope that we can be of service to you and your wife again in the near future. Please do keep in touch and I wish you a pleasant year ahead.

Kind regards,
Khoo Boo Lim

We booked Lone Pine first for 10 nights and the plan was move to George town to E&O for 9 nights. After reading the review's we were bit worried about the mosquitos and ants but that worry was pointles. We had a mosquito mat in our room (by Hotel) and we didnt get single bait. Yes there is ants if you leave food on the balcony table but so is everywhere in tropic. So no need to worry. There were also few comments about breakfast table and uncovered food. All the "cold" food was covered and there were no issues with hygiene at all.
Our room was modernly decorated rather smal but were really happy with the cleanines and the decoration. We did not eat at the hotel because the food court was just around the corner (200m) and the food was delicious and cheap. (We tryed the Japanese ones and that was nice). After 10 night we moved to theyr sister hote E&O but when they have to close the pool due sea water we decided to came back for the rest 5 night's. To be honest we did not like the E&O so much. Yes the service is great and the breakfast was the best ever, but for the family with two kids its bit like staying at the museum. The only thing for the kids is the pool and whan they were forced to close it we didnt have practically anthing to do.
Anyway if you like 5 star accomodation in a quiet relaxed hotel concider Lone Pine.

Room Tip: Food court at the right side from the hotel (200-300m) The bathtub at the balcony was great

The Lone Pine is a fantastic hotel - the rooms are modern, great design with all the necessary facilities. The customer service was excellent including the cuisine and all the waiters were very helpful and charming. The pool was lovley, and as the hotel is situated next to beach, you can easily sit on the beach and make sure you have one of the fantastic body massages! The overall ambience is welcoming and friendly, yet relaxed. Highly recommended!

My boyfriend book a standard room here as a surprise birthday stay over the weekend. A few weeks before the stay, he emailed the hotel and told them about the stay, and that it was my birthday and if they can do something special, it'd be nice. When we arrived, they upgraded us to a super deluxe suite! Staffs were super friendly, helpful, and knowledgable of the surrounding town area. Breakfast spread was extensive, we ordered a burger by the pool and it was marvellous! (we could've been starving, but as far as we could remember, it was super delish!) They also had staffs giving ice cold towel at the side of the pool. We received a birthday cake on the second day. On the last day, upon leaving, the manager (cant remember what his name is, but he's Italian) requested to meet us just for a chat! An excellent stay. Worth every penny spent.

I spent 1 night during the Malaysia festive season at this hotel. I asked for a bigger room but the hotel is fully booked. Although it is one of the smaller room, it is of reasonable size of slightly less than 500 sf. First impression is that the hotel looks quite modern but the lobby is small and not impressive. Certain part of the hotel building give me the feel that this may be part of a old school building as the building is of rectangular shape and the rooms are of square shape. However, it could be seen that the hotel pays a lot of attention on the details of design and ease of use e.g. the design of toilet is quite modern with huge bath tub and rain shower head with big toilet area. Hotel decorative design, restaurant and furniture design throughout the hotel compound is of special design and good quality. The big swiming pool is of uniform depth of 4 feet so that children can enjoy the facility. On service level, the staff are courteous and helpful but there was once I was disappointed as the staff gave priority to foreigners even though I make the request first and it was very obvious. The beach is just outside th hotel compound but there are a lot of public using the beach and during this public holiday, I noticed that the beach is crowded by foreign workers. The location of the hotel is great as the night market starts just outside the hotel main gate and it is very convenient to walk to the night market in Batu Ferringhi. Overall, the hotel stay and experience is good.

Room Tip: The hotel room price is reasonable and if possible should choose room on the second floor and furthe...

Looking for a long weekend break in Penang, we spent a lot of hours researching where to stay. We finally decided on LONE PINE Hotel as it seemed to have the facilities we wanted for ourselves and two teenage children but not to be too big like many of the other hotels along the beach front. The staff were very friendly and efficient upon our check-in. We were shown to our rooms which both had sea views. So clean and tidy; lots of space, fantastically comfortable beds, soft towels, immaculate bathrooms....I could go on. We have stayed at different resorts across S.E.Asia and this has been the best to date.
The hotel is right on the busy main street but you would not know it once inside...so peaceful and quiet.
We enjoyed our buffet breakfasts and also some other lunches and dinners there. We found the food served was tasty and good-sized portions.
The site has security which is an added bonus.
The staff were helpful at all times and very courteous. I would particularly like to commend one of the breakfast waiters, I do not know his name, who was serving at the early time of 6.30.
Even after being up all night and working alone, his standard of service was impeccable!!!
My daughter and I has treatments at the Spa which were luxurious.

All-in-all, I would recommend this hotel very highly.
Thank you again to all the staff who made our stay such a memorable and happy one!!!
We hope to make a return visit.

Sunshine Greetings from Malaysia's Premier Boutique Beach Resort.

We are so delighted to see such a fantastic review from you. It is our mission to offer the best services to all our guests and it looks like we have managed just that for you and your family.

It seems that the designer of the hotel has also done justice as many guests like yourself have found the rooms to be beautiful, comfortable and practical. Nevertheless, we are always challenging ourselves on how we can make it even better.

We hope that we will get to see you again on your next holiday trip and wish you and your family a wonderful year ahead.

We enjoyed this hotel right from the moment we stepped inside. Staff were well trained and very kind and attentive. The hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard.
The restaurant provided a very good breakfast and there is an excellent buffet dinner on friday and saturday nights. Facilities are excellent and well maintained. Shame that the beach outside is so rough, but the pool is a lovely relaxing area to use instead. The spa is the only thing I would criticise, although the staff are very attentive, I did not feel that they offered value for money. Manicure and pedicure was not a great standard, they didn't even attempt to remove the rough skin from my feet and the massage was also only ok, not as good as the price i paid!
Apart from the spa I have nothing to criticise, it was a great hotel.

Room Tip: the rooms facing the sea in the main building have all been refurbished.

Dear Julie B,

Sunshine Greetings from Malaysia's Premier Boutique Beach Resort.

We are so delighted that you have enjoyed your stay with us but most of all is that we have managed to meet and exceeded your expectations on our product and services. The kitchen especially will be delighted to learn that you have found the food to be most satisfying. The Chefs always get a "High" when they learned that someone really appreciate their hard work.

However, it seems that I can't say the same thing about your experience at the Spa as this is the only service in the hotel that we out sourced to a third party. Please accept my apologies on behalf of the Spa management. I have forwarded this review to the Spa owner and have advised her to look into this matter seriously as it does reflect on the hotel image and services.

Thank you again for a fantastic review and we wish you a wonderful year ahead.

Kind regards,
Khoo Boo Lim
