Stayed three nights, but would have liked more. We considered going back to the big resorts we had previously stayed at , but decided to give this one a go. So glad we did. The place is comparatively small and so never felt crowded. We actually went to dinner at the Golden Sands next door and the crowds that were walking around the gardens and hanging around the pool made us glad we chose to stay at Lone Pine. Apart from breakfast which was more than adequate (but not the massive spread you might get at bigger resorts) we did not eat at the hotel, but found food very cheaply not far outside. Rooms were huge with great views of the ocean. Very much enjoyed our stay here.

I likes the environment and design around the hotel, the architectural and interior design is nice, this hotel has been re- furbished with fine details.

the restaurant's food at The Bungalow ( fusion food ) & the Matsu ( Japanese restaurant ) is nice. Some lady waitress at The Bungalow seems unfriendly but the man waiter is better with smiling face and helpful.

For those disabled traveller, this is a good place to stay and dine. As all places in accessible here with facility, ramps and wheel chair friendly environment.

o, if you want to have dinner at the japanese Matsu, remember to book beforehand.

I was very impressed with Lone Pine. I could not help noticing the attention they paid to the design details, even the letter kit, etc. The hotel room was nicely decorated, simple, minimalist yet comfortable. The pillows were comfortable, very. The breakfast spread was also impressive, and it is a great place to hangout just reading in the balcony, enjoying the private bath, looking out at the beach. The Japanese restaurant was average though, the sushi we had were not as fresh as we had hoped. The staff were attentive, and the service was great. But make sure you put on the do not disturb sign if you want to be left alone, housekeeping comes round quite a lot just to turn down, and top up the mini bar. It got a little noisy because it was the school holidays, but overall it was a great relaxing trip.

If I could add more stars I would, I thought Traders in KL was special but this was better. Outstanding friendly staff. Great rooms, great postion, lovely pool.
The beach itself is pretty ordinary. There were warning sings about jellyfish, but the number of inexperienced jetskiers zooming around on the water would have made swimming dangerous.

Room Tip: They are all good

Everthing is just wonderful, but just when my family member insist to confirm something, hence they called up to front desk for assistance; soon another family member make another call to the front desk again, but we get a frustrated reply from front desk saying 'i just said.....'! Hello! Customer called up, must be having some problem and seeking for help, what sort of service is this? Everything is just spoiled because of this lousy service! Public relations please look deep into the problem, don't allow a lousy staff and spoil the good name of hotel.

Alighting from the ferry, we were greatly relieved to find the private driver we had contracted for from the Lone Pine hotel had waited for us even with the hour delay. This speaks highly of Simon, the Lone Pine man for private transportation needs, and certainly of the individual himself. Simon had an older but comfortable Mercedes 500 series which had an excellent air con system and room for the four of us with luggage. During our 45-minute ride to the Lone Pine which is located in the Batu Ferringhi area of the island, we had some conversation with Simon about sightseeing logistics.

Upon arrival at the boutique style Lone Pine Hotel, we were very much impressed with the room type we had chosen since all four of us wanted to keep our close living relationship going. We had ordered an executive-style room which provided a separate room for Alex and Tucker which could be closed off. The main room that Mindy and I slept in was adjacent to the newly completed bathroom with stylish glass and mirror effects. It was never a problem with the one bathroom between the four adults. The second story room also came with a balcony which provided a view of the ocean and public beach. Although the view was somewhat hindered by the mature palm trees, they offered shade during parts of the day when it was welcomed.

After the long train ride and room exploration, a swim in the pool was in order before we headed out for the evening’s adventures. The pool was of a modern style meaning there was no deep end although there was a separate area for youngsters to wade and jetted fountains made it enjoyable for all ages. Luckily, the bottle of McClellan was still intact and I was able to bring my beverage poolside whilst the rest of the party ordered from the pleasant staff at the Lone Pine (LP).

The first morning at the Lone Pine (LP) was greeted with a pleasant temperature for a beach walk. We decided to travel East on the beach toward a large rock formation. The direction we travelled was occupied by other hotel properties and rental businesses that provided all of the equipment needed for an exciting beach experience such as boats, jet skis, parasailing, fishing charters and dogs. The dogs were smartly trained to keep an eye on the assets of the business that were stored outside during the evening. The dogs kept a close eye on any humans that approached the vendor’s business and provided a warning bark to make the owner aware of a guest or potential thief. A group of younger, less disciplined dogs were having a game of chase up the rocks with much sure footed skill on the slippery structure.

After our short walk, and even with the ocean breeze from the Andaman Sea, I was quite warm and ready for breakfast. The Lone Pine provides the best breakfast buffet we had experienced so far on the trip and with the best location consisting of an open air seating area providing the beach and ocean view. As we had experienced previously, the cuisine in this part of the world is as diverse as the populations. The foodstuffs consisted of many diverse fruits and juices, spicy Malay and Indian cuisines, American and British bland meals, and perhaps some Australian favorites since we were encountering the largest group of Aussies we had encountered thus far.

We had rearranged the day’s travel schedule in order to see the Lion Dance at the LP. Just like Clan Jetty yesterday, the Lion Dance was today’s favorite experience. The crowd had started to gather and it not only consisted of hotel guests but also included local dignitaries and a contingent of ex-pats from outside the LP who had come to witness the Lions blessing of the hotel for a prosperous New Year. This performance consisted of a team of two lions with two men per lion and a drummer with several assistants who helped direct the lions throughout the property to ensure a complete blessing. The lions danced to the beat of the drummer and provide quite a performance for the spectators. As part of the dance, the lions get into a crouch position and peel many ‘prosperity’ oranges for the crowd. As they offer their oranges, the lions are happy to receive some Ang Pow in a red envelope. After the lions were finished with the crowd, one of the men had to scale a narrow pole in order to seize the big fat envelope from the hotel. The Ang Pow envelope was tied to the top of the pole hanging 20 feet above the courtyard. Once the lion performance ended, I was surprised to see another lion team approaching the hotel. This team was one lion consisting of two athletically shaped young men would do the competitive portion of the performance. They also had their own drummer and percussion section to provide the lion’s heartbeat. The front man who would be the eyes of the lion had a small body frame and was very light compared to the man in the rear of the lion. This anchor man would have to balance the front man on his shoulders while blindly jumping from pole to pole which were stationed above of the ground at varying heights of up to approximately 10 feet. Not only was this an athletic performance but with the lion’s eyelids, ears and tail designed to blink and wag via manipulation by the front man, it is really a dance art.

Stayed here for a night with my girlfriends for a hen party. Wouldn't have stayed anywhere else! This hotel is absolutely beautiful, very contemporary yet homely welcoming. It's clean and the staff were polite and helpful. There was a wedding reception by the beach which was just amazingly gorgeous - made me want to get married! The hotel's a bit on the pricey side though, so it would be best if you can look for good deals.
