“Good!!!”
Reviewed February 12, 2013

Stayed in Bayview Beach Resort,Batu Feringgi for 3 NIgthts. Overall, the experience was very good for the price we pay for the resort.

Starting with the room, we booked the standard room and the room was spacious and cleanliness of the room is gd and toilet is average(can find hairs in the bathtub and basin when we entered the toilet)a lot of improvement is needed in this area.Complimentary water bottle is available in the room.

Room service and food, room service is fast and the food delivered taste gd except for one room service person,(didn't notice the name) he pass us the tray when we open the door and expect us to sign the bill while we holding the tray,he doesn't bring the food into the room.He did that twice and the third time,i asked him how he expect me to sign,he just smiled.
Buffet breakfast - the quality and quantity of the buffet breakfast is very very average. The outstanding food was the pancake. We all enjoyed it.

Location and pool, Its situated about 15 mins walk from the night market. The private beach is very gd,with beach acitivites and pool is also gd.

The staffs in the concierge and reception were very helpful and attend to our request immediately throughout the stay.

Overall, its a gd hotel.Everything is descent and neat for the price we pay.

Dear Fairoz83,

Thank you for mentioning that our standard rooms are spacious for your family and that overall you found us a good hotel for the price you have paid.

We have taken note of your comments over the cleanliness in your bathroom and we apologise for the poor impression caused. Further to your comment on our room service staff, please email us via the Trip Advisor message service, the period and the room stayed for us to identify the errant staff so that we can ensure improvement in our services.

As mentioned in our previous postings though we are about 10 minutes’ walk to the night market, the hotel provides a free one way shuttle every evening for guests who opt for a short ride instead. You will be pleased to know in terms of great value for money, we are just voted in at the Trip Advisor’s Travelers’ Choice 2013 as the 7th Top Bargain hotels in Malaysia, so check out our specials regularly!

It was a pleasure to have been of service to you and I look forward to welcoming you back again in the not too distant future.

We have just returned from 11 nights at the Bay View and it was exceptionally good. We booked a Hill View Deluxe Room which looked out onto the road and shops. The room itself was very large , the bed was enormous with beautiful white bed linen which was changed very day. There was plenty of wardrobe space and quite a few drawers too. The bathroom was perhaps a little dated but was clean with plenty of fresh clean towels. The turn down service on a night not only turned down the bed but also closed the curtains , washed any dirty cups and took away wet towels replacing them with fresh clean dry ones - a lovely touch !!!!

The staff from the concierge ,the cleaners , pool staff etc are all without exception very friendly and helpful and will do their utmost to provide a first class service. The hotel gardens and pool area are really nice - the only fault I would mention was that around the jacuzzi end of the pool the tiles looked as if they needed to be scrubbed as it looked as though there was a dirty mark around the edge of the pool.

The reception areas, toilets and bars throughout the hotel are very clean and tidy. It was Chinese New Year while we were there and the hotel put up decorations for this - they were really good displays.

The food and drink prices in the hotel are comparable to English prices but are expensive by Malaysian prices however the food we saw looked very good and people who ate in the hotel were full of praise for them.

The disappointment for us was the beach area - the sand is just ok however a large river/drain cuts the beach in half, no sun beds were allowed on the beach and you cannot swim in the sea as it is full of jellyfish. However none of this is the hotels fault and they have made there pools and gardens such a nice place to be that it does compensate for this.

All in all we really enjoyed our stay gat the Bay View and would not hesitate to recommend .

Room Tip: We liked the Hill View as there was always something to see outside.

Dear brentiesuk,

Thank you for staying with us for 11 nights and we are delighted that you had rated us with an excellent score of 5/5 whilst we have served you well. We are ever mindful (and work hard on) that our friendliness, efficiency, service standards, varied facilities and consistency that will count in winning our guests in recommending us to others and in returning to us.

We will act on the comments you mentioned over the tiles around the Jacuzzi and the edge of the pool. We nonetheless apologise that the recreation team had overlooked in the pool cleanliness on that area.

In case you are not aware we have a new concept of “Happy Hours Dining” to offer hygienic food of good hotel standards in our convenient location with similar or cheaper pricing to those restaurants across the road. We recognise we have to give our in house guests good reasons to dine in house in the evenings and help stretch that holiday budget.

I am sorry to hear of your disappointment with our beach and sea which unfortunately we are located along a busy shipping route that contribute to the presence of jellyfish and the risk of sea swimming. Indeed, our safe and hygienic pool and the restful garden compensate the situation.

Around this time of the year, the undercurrent tides push the sand to block off the canal discharging the hills water, causing our beach head to be split by the diverted flow. By about 2 months’ time, the undercurrent will push off the blockage at the canal head and the beach will restore to its previous shape. There is still sufficient space for safe walking along the public beach.

Thank you for your willingness to recommend us to others and we look forward to welcoming you back for another enjoyable stay at the Bayview Beach Resort.

From the moment we descended at the Bayview Beach Resort, it was magnificent. The view from the resort, the ambiance and the mood were exhilarating. We were given an early check in around 1 pm and our room had a partial view of the swimming pool and beach. Our room was really huge and had a large king size bed with sofas and attached balcony. We were pretty starved and headed straight to the in-resort Indian Restaurant Sagar. The food there was surprisingly delicious and they had a great menu of Indian dishes.. Also, there was a European style restaurant and a coffee house which served the buffet breakfast at morning. Furthermore there was a drugstore/gift shop in the resort which had almost everything a general store would have, and without exorbitant prices. We headed to the beach after lunch, and the beach was quite good as opposed to the many negative reviews as heard on TripAdvisor. Although it was definitely not as good when compared to the beaches at Pattaya, Thailand but the mountainous backdrop and the rocks added a definite splendor to the scenery. The only negative about this beach was that there was a huge board at the resort gate leading to the beach which said “Swim at your risk, there could be jelly fish”. However there were lots of watersports options next to the resort on the beach including parasailing.

Our resort was fully equipped and lots of facilities provided for the visitors. The arrow shaped swimming pool in resort needs a special mention as it was really well laid out and catered to every level of swimmers. There was a separate small meditation pool and Jacuzzi, along with a distinct pool for toddlers and small kids. There were huge gardens leading to the beach which had a very good number of beach lounge chairs for sunbathing. The swimming pool also had a sunken bar, which is very common at decent resorts nowadays. Moreover there was another Bar/Coffee house situated in gardens just next to the pool which had respectable collection of cocktails/cold coffees and decent variety of evening snacks.

The resort also had a well-equipped gym and sports facility for Squash, table tennis, volleyball and basketball. Also pool and foosball tables were available in the lobby. There was an indoor gaming zone which had options for PlayStation games. Furthermore the resort had a spa and a separate section for baby sitters with huge collection of toys to keep the little ones entertained. There was a general store (from where I bought the travel adapter – the rooms don’t have them) at front of the resort across the road and just next to the store was the best roadside restaurant I have ever been to. It was not really classy, but the delicacies and the cuisines served out more than covered for their lack of visual appeal. They served anything and everything – Indian, Continental, Tandoor dishes, Local Malay food etc.

Places to see around: Butterfly farm is quite near and you can take the bus 101 from front of the resort which is readily available. Tropical Spice garden is also near by but can be easily avoided, nothing great there. Night market starts by 7 pm but really functional by 8pm. Around 750 mtr from resort but you cant get buses 101 or 102 easily for 2-3 MYR. Also just next to this resort is Hard Rock hotel which has Hard Rock Cafe, must visit for music lovers.

Room Tip: Avoid the hill side rooms which overlook the street, as the noise would be pretty audible in rooms.

We stayed here for three nights while in Penang. The rooms were nice and clean, with a massive bed and lots of room space. Staffs were very supportive and we had no issues during our stay. The pool area was fantasic with more than enough chairs and lounges available by the pool or on the large grassy area.
Room for improvement:
1. In-Room Wi-Fi was very slow –speed can be increased
2. There were only few tea /coffee packs left as supplements. As we were in family room so it has to be more,

Dear Dharma_Suresh,

I am delighted that you liked our large rooms and huge bed. Indeed, our large free-form swimming pool and our spacious landscaped garden offer a perfect retreat for many of our guests.

Further to your comment on the in-room wifi we have limited bandwidth of 2 mbbs for download and 1 mbbs for upload for the free internet (emails) usage and higher speed of 8 mbbs can be purchased on request. As for the coffee/tea sachets we normally provide sufficient packets for a family room but additional packs can be provided on request. I am sorry if the housekeeping team has overlooked this.

Thank you for staying with us and for giving us a 4 out of 5 rating.

We stayed here, family of 5, as part of our relo package. The family room that we stayed in was great; from the spacious and clean rooms to the comfortable beds. The master bedroom had this enormous bed that could have easily slept 3 or 4 adults (depending on size). We loved the pool area especially the shaded kids pool. Also for kids, they had a kids club where they could take them all day, even for naps. The exercise room is good but a little dated. It needs some updated weight machines and a full complement of free weights to make it ok. My kids loved the swim up bar where the bar tender served them little scoops of ice cream, he was very sweet to the kids. This location is at the far end of the beach so it's quieter than the Golden Sands area. This means that it's not as convenient to the main drag of Batu Ferrighi. However, I prefer it as there are fewer jet skis and para sailers and motor boats to disturb the atmosphere. The Golden. Sands is a bit more upscale for sure. It depends on your preferences. Opposite the hotel were a couple of local eateries that cater to tourists and locals, so you can conveniently step out of the hotel for a different, but still tasty experience.
The only downside is the breakfast buffet. It's adequate and relatively reflects the expense of the hotel. It's better at the Hard Rock and Golden Sands, but only relative to the status of those hotels. And as mentioned before, there are options across the street.
We've stayed at a couple places here and I think we'd prefer our room and quiet beach at the Bayview.

Room Tip: A family room has great space and is less formal than a suite.

Dear grdwdgrrrl,

Thank you for your nice review of our large family rooms with the super-king-size 8’ beds that we are well known for and it had accommodated you and your family comfortably. We will be introducing a Fun Pool scheduled before May this year for the children to have a splashing time. We have plans to give the gym equipment an update. I appreciate your fair comparison of our lovely breakfast that has over 70 items of hot & cold dishes that is still well received by many other guests.

It was a pleasure to have been of service to you and we look forward to welcoming you and your family back again in the not too distant future.

We stayed for two nights in a family suite with partial ocean and hill view on the 5th floor. The room is huge, big size bed in the master bedroom and balcony to catch the sea breeze. The room is well maintained and very clean. The hotel staffs from the bellman, receptionist to housekeepers are very friendly. We have had a realy good time staying at this hotel. i definately would come back again to stay at Bayview Beach Resort. Thank you again for your hospitality.

Thanks to the Bayview Beach Resort for their welcoming, smiling and always happy staff. My wife and two teen daughters stayed at this resort which was clean, with spacious rooms and had great breakfast supplied. Across the road there were also other eateries and only a short stroll to the night markets and lots more eateries. The best part was being the last hotel up the road so it was nice and quiet when you did want to relax. The pool was nice and clean but could do with some waterslides and other pool entertainment. All in all a great stay and would definitely go back.
