Cannot fault the hotel. Staff were great and so helpful. Our flight out of Penang was delayed and although we were unable to have the room for as lonng as we needed it as the hotel was very busy, they allowed us to stay in it until 2pm instead of 12 noon. A big help.
Buffet breakfast was the best and I can definitely recommend the seafood buffet on Saturday night. Definitely as good as the Raffles in Singapore which has been my favourite for a few years now.
The room was facing the hills but mattered not aswe did not spend much time in the room...only for sleeping. One thing to be aware of which we were disturbed by at first, but which we did eventually sleep through, was the calling to Mecca or whatever they were doing, at a nearby mosque. At 5-5.30am it was not welcome!!!
The bedroom was large and very comfortable and clean and the staff very good and helpful. We ate at the restaurant and the pool cafe...both excellent. Internet is 10rm per 30 mins. The kids club looked good and the kids seemed to be enjoying it. We spent a lot of time around the pool in the shade and loved the beautiful surroundings. The beach was at the edge of the grounds but a warning that there were stingers or something in the sea put us off swimming. The sports on the beach did not bother us atall.
The sun set at night was superb.
Local bus outside the hotel for 2rms to the main town in a/c went every 15 mins. We usually got a taxi back as we were tired!!! That was usually 30 - 35 rm.
In all, this was one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in and we have certainly done our share!!!

A hotel in excellent location with beautiful pools and most enjoyable buffet breakfast. Friendlly staff always ready to offer assistance. Without the awful incident experienced in the privately run souvenir shop, we will recommend Parkroyal to anyone without hesitation.

Dear Guests,

Thank you very much for your kind comments and recommendation.
Once again, I sincerely apologise for the poor behavior of the shop tenant to whom we have shared your legitimate dissatisfaction, after our discussion on that day in the lobby to see an immediate improvement.
On their behalf once again please accept our sincere apologies.

We look forward to welcome you back in a not too distant future.
Have a fantastic week ahead.
Sincerely,

François Sigrist

When we arrived at the hotel, we were so happy with the choice we made. The place was the most welcoming we had stayed at through our trip in Malaysia, and it smelled wonderful as we ventured through the hotel with the essential oils softly burning. We had a sea facing family room. which was perfect for us, roomy enough with everything you need and the bathroom was a good size and stocked with enough towels etc for the four of us, something that was a problem in previous hotels. The maid and house boys were all friendly and often close by if we needed anything (thanks for the cookies and fresh towels....we love you!) The location of the hotel was lovely... I have read complaints about noise from water sports etc, but my husband and I quite enjoyed sitting on the balcony with a drink at the end of the day watching the parasailers drift around.... we loved it!!! There are lots of restaurants close by, and the market stalls open everynight just out the front. The local bus stops just outside too and is very cheap and a good way to get around... we caught it a few times to go to the big shopping malls and cinemas. The children aged 7 & 9 enjoyed the kids club and the pool area and chatting and playing with the lifeguards who are all very friendly and eager to help. I felt like there was everything we needed to all have the best trip ever... my husband and I were able to have time together and dinner alone thanks to the kids club and we were able to enjoy ourselves as a family too with everything being offered at our door step.... We were truly able to unwind!!!! My husband is still working off the pancakes which the lovely lady cooked fresh for him every morning ..... well stocked buffett... well done to all staff your all so wonderful!!! x ps I bought the oils and a burner from the spa just so I could relive a little of the park royal experience.

ParkRoyal is in a good location, just next to the Night Markets, Restaurants and Bars.
There is a bus station in front of the hotel, you can go to George Town by Bus no.101 for RM3 and from Airport to beach area by Bus no. 102 for RM4 ONLY.
Taxi to beach area from airport costs RM60-70 normally.

We booked two rooms and requested a connecting room. The rooms are spacious with balcony, but not bath tub.
The breakfast buffet is the best in my life! It provides fresh fruit juice and many choices of the food.

However, the swimming pool is small. The lifeguard didn't allow us to having drinks just beside the pool.
The drinks must be placed on the table, but there is a bar next to the pool!

There is a tour counter at the main lobby, but the price and package are different from the booklet in the room.
According to the hotel activites booklet in the room, there is a Tropical Fruit Farm tour and customers can ask for the Poolside Kiosk for more information.
Unfortunately, the staff (lifeguard) said the Tropical Fruit Farm Tour is boring and refer us to the Round Island Tour.
We insisted that we really want to go to the Tropical Fruit Farm. The staff called to the travel agency and asked me to talk directly to the agent for the price.
The price is printed in the booket already, I don't know why they offered us a different price.

Dear Guests,

Thank you very much for your kind comments and we are very happy you enjoyed your stay with us.

In regards of the drink around the pool and in the pool, please allow me to explain, for guests’ safety we are not allowing any glass item in or around the pool as if it fall and break it could injured your goodself or any other guests badly. However we provide plastic glasses for that purpose; I deeply regret any inconvenience caused.

Concerning the tour prices confusion, I have personally reviewed the situation with our Associates for an immediate improvement. I do, once again, offer my sincerely apologies.

I hope this incidents will not deter you for patronizing PARKROYAL Penang again, and if you may need any assistance please do not hesitate to contact me personally. I will be only pleased to assure you r comfort while staying with us.

Have a beautiful week ahead,

Location – fantastic we were allocated a room facing the sea great view.
Staff – very attentive, efficient.
Rooms – very nice, room bright
Ambience- hotel was nicely decorated; entrance.
Food – very good, western food and local food available. Over our 7 weeks holiday we rated this hotel to have the best ever breakfast. Moreover, far superior to most UK hotels!
Food allergy – prior to leaving UK we contacted the hotel by email regarding the necessity for a wheat free diet for a celiac.
We enjoyed the hotel food, and eat there almost every night. The Ship was terrible!
Would we use again? Most certainly
