The highlight of this hotel is the pool (a child's dream) and its beachside location. Rooms are nicely appointed with good bathroom amenities (we loved the shower gel) and nice to have tea/coffee readily available. All food and drinks are way overpriced, even the 'specials' - just too much for families on a budget. If the hotel offered more reasonably priced dining options we, like many many others, wouldn't have jumped on the shuttle bus into town every day and night. We ordered a cocktail, mocktails and fries by the pool and the wait was ridiculous - bar staff are too slow fluffing around. I watched food and beer sit on the bar for what seemed like an eternity. By the time it was delivered the beer would've been hot (the ice had completely melted in my cocktail and fries were cold!). Staff all very friendly though, greeting us at every meeting. Kids loved the Exec Chef in the pizzeria, Ieda our housekeeper and shuttle bus drivers. The only downside of our stay was check in. The foyer was so noisy with the band playing we struggled to even hear the receptionist (ridiculous that the front desk is where it is, needs to be in a more private location). The receptionist wanted to charge us for a rollaway bed even though we'd made it clear in our booking and upon arrival that our children would use the existing bedding (room would've been too crowded with the extra bedding and an unnecessary additional expense). Being long-stay guests (7 nights), we were disappointed with our room allocation and this could've ruined our entire holiday. We'd booked a deluxe hinterland view room and were placed on the 2nd floor - no view at all, just looking onto a rooftop and concrete, and with a common walkway where workman would walk by every few hours peering in. We asked to move and we were given the same room on the 4th floor which was better, although we shouldn't have even had to request this (again being long stay guests, and considering that most hotels do their room allocation the night before to 'get it right' the first time!). I'd recommend this hotel to friends but only if booking a package including breakfast, certainly not rack rate. Overall a nice stay despite the room hiccup.

When you book a Lil Rock Suite you immediately become a member of the "Kings Club" - this makes quite a difference on the service you get. Due to Kings Club the greeting when you arrive is fantastic and you are given a nice beverage and they take great care of you. One of the other benefits is the ability to go up to Level 6 to the club for breakfast. So what you say - well the regular breakfast area has queues. The Kings Club have waiters, over-abundance of food and the ability to order eggs anyway and real coffee - ah the bliss.

As the website states "Lil Rock Suite, this is a one-of-its kind room designed with the young rock stars in mind. Equipped with all the awesome amenities to keep the little ones entertained, the whole family can enjoy more space, glamour and grandeur. With their very own TV, play station 3, music videos, special kid’s in-room dining menu and a mini bar full of snacks, a true rock star holiday begins here." They obviously loved having their own space and also the PS3. You can get a range of games and we made good use of this.

One of the other benefits of the Kings Club is to have the details of a specific staff member who can organise facilities for you like a very late checkout - loved this service and the kids loved the pool, the PS3 and the food - thank you Hard Rock.

Room Tip: Definitely the Kings Club to add the cream to the really good Hard rock cake.

Amazing family destination for our 5, 3, <1 kids. Spent there 15 nights. Impressed with very well trained staff. My 5 year old enjoyed free kindergarten :). kids loved the swimming pools with the sand and slides play area. Free shuttle busses available every 30 min to the night markets and restaurants-good idea to save money and explore different cuisine.
Did not enjoy breakfast much! Mostly orientated on Chinese customers!

Our family of 5 ( 3 kids under 5) have just come home after a week at the HRHP. Our entire stay was excellent, our kids had an absolute blast. The hotel staff were fantastic, yeah sometimes a little slow but with the number of guests there I can understand why. We stayed in the lil rocker suite and despite our very ordinary view, the room was awesome! Free movies and free wifi. The only fault I had with our room was there was no bath which made bath time challenging for 2 of my kids that hate the shower. Check in and check out was easy. Breakfast was ok, the variety could be better especially the range of fruit, no real bacon, also the eggs were cold. However the lunches and dinners we ate were great. The pros out weighed the cons by a lot, so much so that we will definitely be back!

Stayed for 2 nights with husband and 5 year old child.
2nd visit to premise.

Location
Beach front On Batu Ferringgi stretch of resorts. Usually we will stay at Shangri la but thought of giving it a try w the rave reviews from families. (1st visit was w girl friends).

Room
Stayed on the King's club floor which entitled us to the lounge privileges which was pretty good but at USD300+ a night the room (35sqm) was pretty small for asian resorts. No tub, just a shower too. An odd two-way bathroom that can be opened from outside at anytime from a wooden divider at the bathroom sink. Design or..? On our 2nd night, the invasion of bugs (100+) in our room!! We were told that we shouldn't hv opened the balcony door at night??? What's the point of an ocean view room? Sigh..thankfully we got a new room immediately.

Overall a palatable place if we like crowd, pricy hotels serving mediocre food. Even the accommodating friendly staff of the king's lounge wasn't enough to make our stay an enjoyable one. Definitely not a rocking stay for us.

Dear Sue,

Thank you for staying with us once again and regret that we didn't meet your expectations in a couple of areas.

The bathroom dividers are certainly part of our unique bathroom design concept, with the dividers closed exposes a painting of either Ray Charles or Elvis Presley.

Weather dependant, you will find in most hotels in this region if you leave your room windows or in this case balcony door open at night you're essentially welcoming insects in. I apologise for the inconvenience this caused you with having to change rooms.

Thank you once again and I hope we can welcome you and the family back sometime soon for a better experience.

Rock'n Regards
