Do yourself a favour - visit Mike & May's lovely 4 star B&B, even if you're not going to Montagu! The rooms are spacious and luxurious, the surrounding garden is paradise come true, the tranquility is divine. '7 Church Street' is probably the nicest guest house I ever visited.

My husband and I spent a night at 7 Church Street in November and only wish we could have spent a week or more! Montagu is lovely, which explains the large number of B&Bs available - but I can't imagine any could compare with 7 Church Street.

May and Mike are hugely friendly and welcoming. The rooms are beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable, with everything you might want provided. Breakfast is a real experience - a feast of delicious, lovingly home-prepared food. May gave us lots of helpful information re what to see and where to eat etc, whilst Mike (who has a wonderfully dry sense of humour) had lots of info on mountain biking in the area. And the garden is simply idyllic - so many beautiful plants and stunningly landscaped with lots of paths to explore, several leading to a pond with lots of friendly ducks living in it.

Everything added up to an overwhelmingly relaxing experience - such a wonderful guest house in such a beautiful little town in such an amazingly stunning location. I am now dreaming about coming back for longer, spending mornings cycling/hiking and afternoons relaxing in the garden/by the pool... Bliss!

If you come to Montagu, really, make sure you stay here - you won't regret it.

That 7 Church Street and Montagu as a whole remain less well know is probably in my interests. No. 7 has a small number of rooms but it stands out as quite the best guest house we stayed in in South Africa. Beautiful rooms and great hosts.

Montagu as a whole has some charming restaurants and a host of activities that should keep anyone entertained for a good few days on any tour of the winelands. It's a superb base to explore a beautiful part of the country.

We had a wonderful time at 7 Church Street. The owners - May and Mike - are excellent hosts with great humour. They really care about their guests and put all their enegy and love into their guest house.

The guest house itself is a very beautiful old building, filled with nice painings from across the world and a very lovely garden. We stayed at the honeymoon suite which was very nice and we received our own delicious breakfast served in the garden in front of the suite.

Mike gave us great tips as to where to go mountainbiking and hiking. It was great fun!

It was a great pleasure to spend 3 nights here and we will definitely come back one day.

Room Tip: The honeymoon suite can be highly recommended.
